A Favor for a Favor (All In Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 14,591 ratings

An Amazon Charts bestseller.

From the New York Times bestselling author of Pucked and A Lie for a Lie, a new stand-alone romance about trading favors, battling wills, and winning love.

When I joined Seattle’s NHL expansion team, I thought it was the start of something great. But nothing ever goes the way you expect. Take my introduction to my new neighbor. She came rolling in on the hot mess express at midnight, making a racket while she tried to get into my team captain’s apartment. Did I mention that he’s married to a woman who definitely was not her?

Imagine my surprise when I end up with an injury that has me out of the game for weeks, and she’s the one to offer to help me. I should probably add that she’s not the captain’s mistress. She’s his sexy, pastel-haired younger sister.

So we come up with an arrangement: she rehabs me so that I can get back on the ice sooner, and she can add a professional athlete that isn’t her brother to her client list. Seems simple enough. As long as I can keep my hands to myself and my hormones in check.

Love Helena Hunting’s hockey rom-coms, despite the fact that I’m not really into sports romances
5 out of 5 stars
Love Helena Hunting’s hockey rom-coms, despite the fact that I’m not really into sports romances
I have never been and I am still not a fan of sports romance (hockey or otherwise). I have tried to read some other sports romances since I discovered Helena Hunting quite by chance, they all seemed to have flaws (in the writing) and none of them really resonated with me. So I have come to the conclusion that it is really Helena Hunting’s “narrative voice” that makes her stories stand out in my mind and that makes me pick up her books again and again. I also think she is at her best when she lets her funny side rip and does her unfiltered inner monologues (or in the case of Violet the unfiltered thoughts that she utters out loud on a regular basis). That’s why I actually consider her Pucked series some of the best of her writing. A Favor for a Favor is book two in the All in series, which is a spin-off of the Pucked series with an all new team, but also featuring some favorite characters in a supporting role, as Alex is the head coach of the new team. Stevie is just on the other side of a bad break-up, so when her brother RJ (from A Lie for a Lie) offers her his apartment (that has been paid for by the team until the end of the season and he doesn’t need it anymore as he bought a house and has moved in with Laney), she jumps on it. Too bad one of her neighbors is this grumpy, impolite hunk. To say they don’t hit it off on the first encounter is kind of an understatement. I really liked how their relationship developed from this adversarial beginning, over them being friends and working together to becoming lovers. I think Bishop “Shippy” is one of my favorite heroes of Helena Hunting’s. Even though in the beginning he comes across as kind of an abrasive, bunny-hopping dick, it becomes clear that he Is actually a very decent and caring guy who is in a difficult spot in his life and has taken on responsibility for his careless younger brother who has a serious medical condition. It almost felt like Stevie didn’t really deserve him as, because of her own baggage, she almost tanks their relationship. At times I felt very cross with her and her angst, that seemed to be a bit childish. Luckily she comes around in the end and gets her hunk. 4 ½ stars. Helena Hunting’s signature combination of bawdiness and humor never disappoints.

    Audible review:

I loved this book. I’ve listened to it multiple times and i can never get enough. The story is hilarious and the narration is supreme.

One of my favorite things is the newspaper wars. Who can shock who the most and i cracked up every single time.

I loved the progression of this book, how they went from mutually beneficial reasons to help one another, to friends, to more. The story line was great and i wanted to smack Rook upside the head a couple of times but other than that, i seriously loved the story!

It was definitely full of love, laughter, and funny banter.

The grump and the hot mess. ❤️

Not like it's a surprise or anything as Helena Hunting quickly rose to one of my favorite authors from the 1st book I read by her. Working on her back catalogue now and enjoying myself immensely!
This followed the little sister of Rook(Rookie) RJ and his new teammate Bishop whom he does NOT get along with.
Stevie always felt like she lived in her big brothers shadow and did her outmost BEST to disassociate herself from anything RJ related! To the point that she was missing out on his life and her family time. It took Bishop to bring that all together!
Bishop had something to prove being moved to this new expansion team in Seattle. He did not have time for a relationship with this puck bunny moving in to the penthouse next to him.
They go on a journey finding themselves and each other in the process. A truly feel good story with TONS of heat per usual for Helena!
Erin Mallon is a new narrator for me and she did a great job bringing Stevie to life! Of course, one of my TOP favs, Jacob Morgan rocked Bishop too, but I never doubted that he wouldn't!
All in all I was a happy camper. I've never been disappointed with her work and don't see it happening anytime soon. With a lot of stories once you get to the 2nd and 3rd book the author has lost their steam.
Each of these books in this series is better than the last and THATS saying something.

A Favor for a Favor is the second book in a spin-off series from Helena Hunting’s Pucked series. It is a slow burn enemies to lovers, sports romance told in dual pov. I loved the first book in the series but this is in a class of its own!! What will she have in store for us in the third book Kingston’s book!!

One of the things about Helena’s books you can always count on a funny, quirky, laugh out loud “meet cute” and she did not disappoint on this one.

Helena opens the story up with Stevie (RJ's younger sister from A Lie for a Lie) arriving at RJ’s empty apartment to stay. This is due to the fact that she was going to surprise her boyfriend at their new apartment, but she is the one that is surprised finding him plowing someone else on their brand-new couch!! Arriving at her brother apartment really late after having one terrible day, she looks a mess, she broke her suitcase, and she can’t get the key in the door. The door across the hall opens and this good looking but rude man starts yelling about all the noise she is making. What a way for her day to end her birthday no less!!

Misunderstanding on both of their parts, him thinking she is sneaking into his married team captain's apartment, so he is rude and disrespectable to her. Her thinking he is a womanizer who seems to have a constant stream of women in and out of his door and extremely grumpy.
Stevie does not know he is a member of the new Seattle’s hockey expansion team, the same one her brother is the caption on. Bishop does not know Stevie is the little sister of his new captain…the one that he does not see eye to eye with!!

These two start a love hate relationship that is so hot is could just combust. With all the tempers and snarky attitudes, full of banter and humor and one-liners with sizzling chemistry. There is this cat and mouse game in the hall in the mornings as they pick up their newspapers with him in his boxers with sayings on them and her wearing sports bras and yoga pants. They antagonize each other but all it is doing is arousing them both!! Their reactions are so hilariously funny!

During one of Bishop’s game he suffers a groin injury and is worried about being off the ice for too long. Even thou this was not funny some of the scenes you could not help to laugh out loud, him struggling to get into his apartment. Stevie finds him passed out in the hall and allowed him to stay on her couch overnight. She discovers he is a hockey player and eventually they make the connection!!

Stevie offers to help, she's a is physiotherapist specializing in sports therapy and would love to get some experience rehabbing an NHL player without her brothers help. She could get him back on the ice faster so he finally gives in. This is where the fun begins and boy was it fun!! Their friendship/relationship was a slow and steady build, they seemed to bring out the best of each other. But they were not without obstacles on their road to love!!

I enjoyed this story from start to finish and can’t wait for the next book coming.
I loved spending time with the Pucked family, and oh boy I’ll just say omg Violet!!

This is definitely a “read in one day” kind of book. I couldn’t stop reading, it was so cute! For once the characters didn’t annoy me with dumb decision making or unrealistic problems. The characters were very likable and the author did an amazing job portraying them as if you really knew them. Great little read and extremely cute story line.

This one was a KU read with the audio attached. I started one way but quickly fell into the other. And things just went smooth sailing from there.

Rook and Lainey had tied the knot and moved to a new state. Now it's time for some time together and away for a while. So why not allow your sister to stay at your place. Stevie was not your typical female. She was young, strong and determined to make it on her own without using her famous brother for anything. That was until she walked in on her leave-in boyfriend banging another girl on the couch that her brother bought for them on her birthday. This makes life take on a whole new meaning. Then to top it all off she had a late night run-in with her neighbor Bishop.

Bishop knows he has no right to be all up in his teammates ' business. He does not even like his new team captain. So why does he care that he had a side chick on the side. He doesn't. Or does he. This was fun from beginning to end. I found it to be filled with rich characters, chemistry, sass and charm.

Overall      4 out of 5 stars
Performance      4 out of 5 stars
Story      4 out of 5 stars

Erin Mallon and Jacob Morgan bring the characters right off the pages and in vivid imagery. I loved having this narration done with two different and both equally strong narrators.

I'm really enjoying the All In series, and A Favor for a Favor is my favourite. Bishop and Stevie's story is a slow-burn, fun and sexy read, but it doesn't shy away from emotion either. Stevie is a sports therapist and the sister of Bishop's hockey team captain. They do not have the ideal first meeting, with Bishop making some assumptions about Stevie, but when Bishop is injured, Stevie makes him an offer he can't refuse. The 'favour for a favour' brings them closer every day and soon they can't deny their real feelings.
Not only am I loving this series in it's own right, but getting cameos from Pucked series favourites is just the icing on an already pretty awesome cake!

When a rehab therapist just out of a bad relationship meets a grumpy hockey player who's enemies with her hockey player brother, sparks fly. She thinks he's the biggest man who*re around based on the constant parade of hot women in and out of his apt and the fact that he always wears loud and usually crude underwear to answer his door. He thinks she's an amoral puck bunny and a home wrecker because she's staying in his team captain's apt not realizing she's his sister. Despite all this they strike a deal: she'll do extra rehab to get him back on the ice after a severe groin injury and he'll write a great reference for her to support her new career as an RT. Despite her brother's fervent objections to the relationship and her truly obnoxious ex who just won't take no for an answer the two of them fall in love, of course. The best part of this book and what elevates it above others of its kind is the great bantering relationship. They're a one of a kind couple and just meant to be. Read this book. You'll love them as much as I did.

A Favor for a Favor is book #2 in the All in Series by Helena Hunting.

    It's Stevie and Bishop's story.

This book is hot and hilarious.
At first Stevie and Bishop don't like each other, but the constantly bickering between these two is so funny to watch (or read).
Who doesn't like to look at an almost naked pro athlete in ridiculous underwear, and with a lot of muscles on display every morning!? (I wouldn't complain🤷🏻‍♀️)
After these two finally giving in to their mutual attraction, this book gets a lot hotter than it already is.

I'm a sucker for sports romances, especially if hockey is involved, so this book is just perfect for me.
I already loved The Pucked Series, and after A Favor for a Favor i'm in love with this series as well.
I can't wait for the next book.
