His suspicions are confirmed when his dog discovers another body buried in the garden, and a monk's body is found floating in the duck pond. About the author

Ms. Bohart kills people for fun and profit (on paper, that is).
She holds a master's degree in theater (directing) and has taught both acting and directing. She has been published in “Woman's World” and "Dead on Demand", an anthology of ghost stories that was on the Library Journal Bestsellers List. She also wrote for the Renton Reporter and has taught writing classes through Kent Parks & Recreation and currently through Green River College.
As an avid dog lover and canine rescue advocate, she weaves dogs into all her novels. In fact, they play major roles. "I want the dogs to be realistic, though," she says. "I don't like books that make animals seem like cartoon figures."
Ms. Bohart now has ten paranormal mystery novels on Amazon, along with two short story books, and two nonfiction books. Her most popular series is the Old Maids of Mercer Island. The first book in that series, "Inn Keeping With Murder" remained on Amazon's top ghost story list for over ten months.
She recently launched the NO ALIBI ZONE on her website as a resource for both mystery writers and mystery fans. The No Alibi Zone takes a deep dive into how homicides are investigated. Through her newsletter “Let’s Talk About Murder,” she interviews police officers, mystery writers, forensic technicians, and others who work in the field of murder investigations. She also writes the MURDER BRIEF, which are blog posts on topics like the serial killer gene, the Body Farm, whether eyewitness testimony is reliable, and more.

I LOVE the line about how the guy's lips looked like glazed donuts...laughed out loud!!! The author has a wonderful and colorful way with writing and expressing herself!! The twists and turns in the story line held my attention. This book is recommended to all. I hope this author keeps writing, as I'd love to read more mysteries by her! Thank you!!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 28, 2013Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI enjoyed reading Mass Murder - and after getting into the book, I laughed outloud about the name of the book, perfect! The book grabbed me on Page 1 and I was drawn into an excellent set up of the characters in the book, each well defined and likeable. I also appreciate the fact that being a "detective" type book that the author steered away from the harshness and cursing that could have bee the lead character. Also the side-trip of the detective being an actor was fun (I also act) and actually worked into the book well. In my opinion, the book got a little wordy for me around the chapter describing the brothers growing up, but I pushed on through and quickly was drawn back into the action. The outcome of the book was not expected and when everything was tied together, I was extremely happy that I read the book. I will look for more by the author and will say, once again, I appreciate fun, exciting and clean reads .. so if that is also for you, this book is for you!

- Reviewed in the United States on November 12, 2012Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI'm not sure how I ended up wit this book on my Kindle. I must have purchased it and forgot about it, but there it was. So I decided to go ahead and give it a shot. Very glad I did.
This is a well written mystery with very distinct, fully fleshed out characters. At first, the story starts out with scenes of sudden cracks of thunder and gusts of wind at just the right moment to accentuate something that has just been said or done. It was very much like an old radio mystery or the novels of Agatha Christie, full of cliché, noir plot devices. I wish it would have continued to have those elements throughout the story, but somewhere along the way, they disappear.
However, the story continues to develop into a complicated and detailed mystery worthy of Alex Cross or Jane Rizzoli. If you like a good murder mystery, likable characters and good writing, give this book a read.
My only complaint is that nobody in this book seems able to eat neatly. Almost everyone had grease dripping down their chins as they eat. I look forward to reading other books by this author but hope that in the future she manages to develop at least one character who has some refinement.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 27, 2014Format: KindleVerified PurchaseMass Murder is a really fantastic murder mystery with just the right touch of paranormal intrigue. Detective Georgio Salvatori has his hands full when the local monastery serves up a twisted tale of murder in the present and a history of murder in its past. As the bodies seem to pile up Detective Salvatori must figure out who killed whom and why. All while experiencing his own family tragedy. Miss Bogart creates very colorful characters and the entire book is so full of descriptions I could see the characters in my minds eye. If you like a good mystery I would definitely recommend this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 29, 2012Format: KindleVerified PurchaseBohart does a fine job of describing the various story locations and cleverly introduces Detective Giorgio Salvatori through his hobby, he's an amateur actor who loves doing Agatha Christie plays. However, once he arrives on the murder scene the pace slows. At chapter ten I started skipping ahead. Bohart makes Giorgio more human with subplots about his wife's pregnancy and his brother's alcoholism, but I was looking for what made solving the case vitally important to Giorgio, outside of it being his job. I didn't see it. All the necessary elements required of a murder mystery are present, but it lacks unique twists and turns. For patient readers and fans of the genre it is probably a good read. I wasn't hooked into finishing it.

5.0 out of 5 stars New series
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI have read and enjoyed Lynn Bohart's Old Maids of Mercer Island series. This new series , with Detective Salvatori, came as a big surprise. It's not a cosy, but rather a police procedural and rather dark. I liked it a lot once I got over my initial surprise. The main character is very human. I have gone on to read the next 2 in the series. They are dark and sometimes rather graphic, but I did like them and will read more if there are any.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a great book.
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseMASS MURDER
What a great book. A real murder mystery, great characters, plenty of police action,
murder, mystery and even spooks, set in California the action takes place in a monastery and a writers conference, how apt.
As the lead detective is a budding actor, theres plenty of thespian drama too.
Giorgio Salvatore and his brother Rocky thought they'd got away from the vilonce of New York coming to a small sleepy town. How wrong.
A great story with special mention of my favorite character Grosvnor.
I'll leave you with the immortal words. Chaaaaaaaaarge !! ( Yes I'm a thespian )
Very Highly Recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great story, vivid characters, and help from unlikely quarters
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseGiorgio Salvatore moved to a sleepy California town to escape the brutality and stress of New York. He can see more of his wife and even has time to participate in the local amateur dramatics society. He likes the quieter life. Then what seems suspiciously like New York brutality suddenly turns up in the local monastery.
All of a sudden, Giorgio has to draw on his previous experience and knowledge of bandits to get to grips with the murder which takes place during a writers' conference being held at the monastery. Who is the woman and what is her connection to the other participants, or indeed the monks?
Giorgio is helped in his pursuit by his newly acquired Bassett Hound who is one of the stars of the book, and the ghostly spectre of a boy who seems to be guiding his research. The dog finds another body freshly buried in the grounds, and then a third body is discovered in the pond. Are the murders connected?
What with sub-plots and secret passages, this book makes for a highly entertaining read. The protagonists are well-rounded and likeable, and the action just keeps coming. Well written and full of suspense, this novel does not disappoint. I hope to see more from Giorgio and the Bassett sleuth.

3.0 out of 5 stars Murder in a haunted monastery
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseA New York detective and his brother both with problems move to California for a quieter life but run into a series of murders at a small monastery.
There follows a series of clues and puzzles and an adopted dog as well as the problem of the detective's wife.
It is a pleasant tale told well, and the haunted bit is kept to the background (I don't do ghosts).
It doesn't really make the grade as a genuine detective novel - the police are more like boy scouts promoted for the day, and the chief detective seems more preoccupied with his home issues than he does with the case.
So it's amateur hour - but good amateur hour, and I've read a lot worse by the pros.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping whodunnit.
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseSince I found this book as a free offer, when I took the chance of downloading it I was pleasantly surprised that it was far better than most freebies. A gripping whodunnit introducing a likeable cop with a believably complex personal life. Thoroughly enjoyed the twists and turns of the investigation until the end.
