Almost Innocent Kindle Edition
As a teenager, Gabriella Forte had no intention of getting to know the town's most dangerous brothers. Once Dustin set his sights on her, she was trapped. There was only one way out of her personal hell.
Declan was determined to break away from his family's shadow. Until he fell in love with the one woman he couldn't have. She changed everything.
Life isn't always kind. Love can hurt. Sometimes you need to sacrifice yourself to protect the people you care about.
It's been twelve years since Declan did the unthinkable and went to prison. He promised to stay away from Gabby and his nephew. That's one vow he can't keep.
Things aren't always what they seem. Facts are only as credible as the person stating them. The truth doesn't always set you free.

About the Author
Thankfully, fate stepped in and granted her the ultimate wish - a life full of men. Carina lives in a picturesque New England town with her husband, the man who ruined the thought of all others, and two amazing sons who always keep her on her toes.
Carina received her MBA in May, but would much rather play with her imaginary friends (the voices in her head) than work her 8 to 5. When she isn't trying to juggle being a working mom with karate and drama practices, surprising her children with her sci-fi movie knowledge, or writing, you can find her with her nose pressed against her kindle, on the back of her husband's motorcycle, or living life vicariously as her Derby Girl persona, Writers Block.
Carina is currently writing Unfinished Business, the next installment of the Bastards MC novels.

About the author

Carina Adams, a USA Today Best Selling Author and Amazon Top 100 Best Seller, is an avid reader who loves the epic and unconventional, has an unhealthy obsession with Stanley Tucci, loves the sounds of Johnny Cash, is the crazy friend your mom warned you about, has a heart and soul as black as the coffee she drinks, and believes she’ll go through the stones and find Jamie Fraser.
Carina has been writing and creating characters for as long as she can remember, allowing her to fall in love with the next man of her dreams with every new story. None of which are anything like boring Prince Charming.
Thankfully, fate stepped in and granted her the ultimate wish—a life full of men. Carina lives in a tiny Maine town with her biker-turned-businessman husband who keeps her on her toes and their two heathens who made her realize that wicked chicks do, indeed, lay deviled eggs.
Carina is currently working on two novels: Echoes of Us, the final installment of the Dreams Trilogy and 'Stones' a heartbreakingly beautiful tale of second chance love.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 4, 2017For every book by Carina Adams I pick up I am overwhelmed with her talent. Her books are so multi dimensional that though they touch subjects most of us will never experience the realness of them is undeniable.
Reading this book I was breathless with emotion.
How it builds momentum through throwbacks, all through the story, giving away details and truths of the characters little by little, is remarkable.
The pure strength these characters must have to get through heartbreaking abuse and how they go on even when everything seems lost is awe inspiring.
Lastly how you're guided through the story feeling like you yourself are solving the great mystery of "what truly did take place, and why?" keeps you on your toes and glued to the pages.
I don't say this often but this book is truly a piece of art that is going to stay with you, not just because it broadcasts a very real and very heartbreaking issue but because it real does make you feel. On top of that it makes you really consider what is write and wrong when a person is pushed to their limits.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 14, 2016This is a difficult review to write and I hope you can make sense of my ramblings. I don't want to spoil anything because it's best going in without too many details.
While there is no graphic detail, this is about a woman who suffered domestic violence and abuse.
I absolutely, without a doubt loved this book. From the first page to the last, I was hooked; I couldn't wait to see what would happen next. It's a little angst, with some interesting twists and turns (some you might see, some maybe not). It's told in dual POV, both characters are in their early 30's, and begins in present day with flashbacks of when they're teenagers..
This was easily a 5 star read......so why did I give it 4? Well......I wanted to see them spend time together and fall in love all over again. Now don't get me wrong, this is definitely Gabby and Declan's love story and without a doubt you know they loved each other but couldn't be together as teenagers. The author did such a good job of conveying their love as teenagers that I really wanted to see how it was recaptured as adults. Unfortunately we didn't get to see that and it disappointed me. d:(
Having said that, I still enjoyed it, I'm glad I read it, I highly recommend it and I sincerely hope this doesn't discourage anyone from reading it, because it truly is a fabulous read!.......d:)
- Reviewed in the United States on June 8, 2016Nature vs. Nurture? If you have ever looked around at your friends or enemies you wonder why some people do things while others don’t. In Almost Innocent you get to read the dark story of Declan Callaghan and Gabriella Fortes.
Both have had rough upbringings and backgrounds. Declan is the good boy who strives for success but his name and family strike fear and respect in his community. Can he overcome his name and the darkness that comes with the respect of his powerful family or will he fall into the dark side of the family business?
Gabriella finds herself with the wrong man but struggles to find her way to the man who has become her best friend. Falling into a powerful family with dark secrets that some are willing to kill for.
This story helps remind us that Domestic Violence doesn’t happen to the weak. It happens to strong people who become broken by their abusers. In many cases it takes something big for those being victimized to fight back, finding the strength and power that had been stolen from them.
Bravo! After reading the Bastards MC box set I couldn’t wait to read another of Carina’s books. Albeit a dark read I enjoyed this story very much. I thought it was well written. She did a great job showing the ugly side of Domestic Violence but she also doles out justice for her character. Gabby rises from the ashes, transforming to a stronger, better version of herself.
Carina Adams warns you from the beginning this story is dark and far from a light and fluffy read so if you can’t or don’t want to read a story like this I suggest you grab another novel.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 6, 2019A book that could have been dark and disturbing, because of the manipulation and brutal violence of Dustin and Mark on Gabby and Fiona. Instead a story is told of how certain of life's circumstances can cause such turmoil, misunderstandings and destruction and thru love, hope, strength and determination can bring about a light at the end of a very dark tunnel.. This is a deep and insightful story that contains some domestic violence, a subject that many authors refuse to touch. Maybe in fear that it will upset or cause a loss of fans. Author Carina Adams took a very difficult subject to talk about and in many ways an even more difficult subject to write about and as always told a story that kept me engaged from the first page til the last. This is also a story of enduring love and of love's binding anchor that can become a life preserver and a life saver. Carina took a hard subject to tackle and created a stirring story of love, life and all its possibilities.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 8, 2016I can't say enough about how this book touched me. I don't typically read darker, more emotionally twisted books, and I couldn't put this down. The love story of Declan and Gabby will gut you, and heal you. Touching on some very serious themes including domestic abuse and violence, Carina explores the lives of her characters as they make choices and sacrifices for each other, for better and for worse. I have read all of Carina Adams' books, and by far, unequivocally, this is her best writing to date. I felt that I got to know the characters and I suffered their sorrows with them, and I celebrated their joys as well. I cannot wait to see what she has in store for my heart next. You absolutely must read this book, you'll thank me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Read!
This book is not like Carina Adams other books. This one is darker and touches on a very serious topic that is often swept under the rug, an issue that no one wants to face or talk about. She does it in such an amazingly real way that you will be left in tears before you finish the book. I experienced an array of emotions - anger, sadness, hate, to love and happiness and much more. I can highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good story told by an amazing Author!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!
This is a raw and gritty romantic suspense, that’s centred around domestic violence, crime, secrets, and lies. I don’t always enjoy flashbacks in a book but in this case I felt it worked well. I loved Declan and Gabby, their’s is a heartbreaking story that’s for sure. It’ll stay with me for a long time to come.
It’s my first book by Carina Adams but it won’t be the last. I highly recommend it.
