A Matter of Trust: A Billionaire Workplace Romantic Suspense (London Calling Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 511 ratings

She longs to steal his heart…or is it his fortune she’s really after?

Devon Sinclair is brilliant, beautiful, and poised for sure success.

When she arrives in London, she’s determined to make her own way, apart from her American family and their less than legal schemes.

What she finds is the very last thing she wants—an arrogant, rude boss who also happens to be the one man to awaken her desire and ignite her untouched heart.

Born into a banking dynasty, Bennett Sterling is as cynical about love as he is coldly driven in business. Burned in the past, his number one rule is to never, ever date an employee.

Luckily, rules are made to be broken.

Passion sparks and emotions flare, despite their intentions to stay apart. And as the attraction between them escalates, their ability to fight against it fades into seductive surrender.

But when Devon’s past comes back to haunt them, will Bennett look beyond the lies to see the truth about the woman he loves? Or will he condemn her as nothing more than a gold-digger and thief?

A Matter of Trust is the first book in Kat Faitour’s London Calling, a contemporary romantic adventure series. If you like Nora Roberts, then you’ll love this series that combines sizzle, suspense, and characters you’re sure to fall in love with.

Kat Faitour is the author of romantic suspense stories with a dash of heat and loads of heart. Her characters are brave, daring, and adventurous, just like her!

Well…

Okay, nothing like her.

Kat lives in the upper Midwest of the United States with her stoic husband and two ridiculous cats. She’s never trained in Krav Maga, been a jewel thief, or flirted with an Interpol agent.

She is deathly afraid of bugs.

I actually was looking for another book by Danielle Steele and the title of "London Calling" caught my eye. I had never heard of the author "Kat Faitour" but I want to tell you she is an outstanding writer! I have read all 5 books in this series in one week. You cannot put them down and the love and suspense is superb as well as character development. I am sad to see that book 5 is the final book of this series. Amazing how she begins the first book with the relationship of Devon, an American financial whiz going to London to work for Bennett, owner of the most prestigious financial company in London. Each book following brings you into the underworld of those exploiting child pornography and child slave trade that we do not realize goes on in our world. The main characters devote their lives fighting to end this horrible exploitation. The romance and blend of all the characters throughout the series is wonderful with such a great ending. I cannot wait to read another book by this superb author!

I absolutely loved the book, couldn't put it down. Every time I thought we were going down 1 path, we turned a corner. I prevented myself from reading the ending so I could enjoy every step, twist, turn the book took me. The author writes in a manner that allows your creative mind to develop clear mental pictures of how the characters looks, act and sound like. The visual imagery of the environment is also breathtaking...just like I am there with the characters. I could not put the book down, read it in 2 days, burned out my Kindle battery trying to get to the end of the book. How patiently do I have to wait for Book 2?! I recommend this book to everyone! I would liken this author to Kim Holden who wrote "Bright Side" and "Gus." Fabulous reading!

Great story. Great characters. I do not understand why it was "cheapened" by the X-rated scenes. This could have been so much better without it, and then I could have willingly recommended it to family and friends.

Was hoping I would get a little more of a taste of London in this book, but it is a love story, so....

In the beginning, Devon came across as a strong, independent woman, but too quickly her infatuation with Bennett took over, and in reverse, his fascination in her swallowed his life. I find it a little hard to believe that two highly intelligent, successful people have a relationship in which they do not talk or do not listen. So much of the story was based on assumptions of each other without ever talking or taking the time to discover the truth.

Granted, each character had things from their past which still had an effect on their current lives, but again, when you are as successful as these folks, you can afford a good therapist. I have been told it is beneficial to getting over past problems.

Whatever, it is still a few and easy little read....the kind we often need in between other books.

I received a copy of this book from Love Books. This is a great story of love and trust. It's full of romance and drama and mystery and suspense. I really like Devon, she rose above her family and her past to become strong, independent and ethical. Bennett is too quick to jump to conclusions, always the wrong ones, for me to really like. But I like Bennett way more than I like Dom, his father or her Devon's father. My favorite character is Bennett's granddad. There is so much intrigue and lying going on, you just can't put the book down until you find out what is actually going on. It's intense and engrossing and entertaining.

It didn't really appeal to me. I wasn't keen on the characters or the storyline. Don't quite understand the series name.
