Awaken Online: Inferno (Tarot #3) (Awaken Online: Tarot) Kindle Edition
A crippling wound. A war looming on the horizon. A demon king to kill.
Finn and his companions barely escaped their encounter with Bilel. But not without a cost - including the loss of Finn's left arm and the magical corruption that now plagues his body.
Despite those handicaps, Finn must keep pressing forward if he is to have any hope of bringing Rachael back. As the Seer predicted, the guilds and Khamsin have formed a fragile alliance. But before they can lay siege to Lahab, Finn and his companions must first find a way to defend themselves and their fledgling army from the effects of the god relic that Bilel now wields...
Which will send them deep into the heart of an ancient workshop. Along the way, they'll encounter advanced magical technology, new friends and foes, and will be pushed well beyond their limits. They will be reforged in the fires of adversity - forced to prove their mettle, even with the odds stacked against them.
Hopefully, it will be enough.
Because soon they will face a demon king and his armies.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 14, 2020...Online Series is a deep, ok, ok, a medium dive delve , into the present psyche, emotionally formative history, and the particular present day emotional crutch adaptions of each series MC.
That the Author does each MC so well, in their individual series, while simultaneously advancing , and gradually revealing that the AO AI is its own behind-the-scenes, MC that spans all of the series, is anabsolute tour de force. A quality m ofelding MC growth, plot development, strong secondary & tertiary characters, and World building on a level seldom seen, or available in Kindle Unlimited.
Thus, isnt dabbling.
Thus, is a seriously talented Author, with amazing skills, and, no grammatical weaknesses (looking at YOU, P.S. Powers!) delivering quality reading at a much higher kevel than KU can usually offer.
Only T. Elllery Hodges "The Never" series is close to as good.
If you are reading my review & wondering if Awaken Online is worth your time? Then,
thus is some of the best constructed, grammatically error free, tastiest, reading, to ever be offered thru Kindle Unlimited AND have multiple books in multiple series, that all build toward a future conclusion.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 11, 2020I love this book series and it just keeps getting better. Learning about the fire avatar and the crazy events that lead up to the conquering of his city has been a great time adding tremendously to the depth of the world and the depth of what motivates players within the world and how they affect it. Travis's writing style has continued to improve and blow me away with both fast paced action and a strong story to push an emotional narrative that breathes more life into the world he's created with each new character and motivation. I'm always waiting for the next installment and even more excited to continue reading his main storyline. At first I wasn't excited about the pause to the main storyline for finn's character arc but it just further cemented my love for this author and the world he's created.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 6, 2020While this side series started off roaring (pun intended), this book was good. It was definitely a finish the series set up the next pieces for Jason. I just found as I read this how much I missed Jason. Finn is great. However this one was less on Finn the man and more on plot to finish out this arc. Still good with it being great towards the end...however yeah time for Jason to come back.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2024Have you ever noticed how the success of completing one of you goals only brings a temporary sense of satisfaction? Which is soon replaced by a desire to do something else; a desire to accomplish another goal of greater significance, or, possibly, of an entirely different kind. Unless we become complacent and "rest on our laurels" it is the nature of human life to constantly seek to improve our place in the world — by whatever metric of improvement out various (and often conflicting) values define as improvement.
It follows that a V.R. game built by, and for human players, would replicate this feature of reality; and so it does. Every success Finn, Julia, and Kyyle achieve has opened a path to greater challenges and this pattern doesn't show signs of changing in the near, or even far, future.
This novel is part of an excellent LitRPG series; which you enjoy much more by starting with the first novel and reading through in order. So stop looking at this book and get "Awaken Online" volume 1 to get started.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 5, 2020Like his other works, this is great, and the tie in to our other heroes is adroitly done. Mr. Bagwell does a great job of connecting reader and character, and the greecian mythos power dynamic is delightful. His characters are all motivated and strong, their motives relatable even to us mere mortals, and his weaving of this story, the way he poses the clash of desires, intrigues and morality without and within the world of Awaken Online will have you binging it as all that came before and leave you aching for more. The man is a playwright who knows damn well how to tell a tale and set the stage for the next one.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 14, 2020First I'd like to say thanks Travis for writing these stories and doing so within a decent amount of time.
I found this story line to be at least as good as Jason's. In many ways it felt as tho Travis as a writer has grown and with it each sentence and paragraph. Some of the more cliche things about Jason's story now feel as tho they are replaced with larger questions. While never taking away from the adventure and excitement. Characters have a depth to them that one can truly feel and empathize with. The characters also feel far less cookie cutter than in other story lines. (I enjoy them too). Over all beautiful story and wonderful job. Thanks again
- Reviewed in the United States on October 6, 2020As the third book in the tarot series, I've come to find myself filled with anticipation and apprehension; To finally see where this story places it's pen to rest, so to speak.
The journey has been an utter delight from start to finish, taking one in a ride through a medley of emotions, insights, and surprises. While I am saddened to see this trilogy end,I also am reminded of the aforementioned quote in the title of this review. And so I place this book down with love and care, eager to see what transpired next in this world.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2020Travis's books have been a huge inspiration for how I consider being a dungeon master and how I encourage my players to be smarter with less.
Aside from that these stories are just incredible. The world setting is beautifully sculpted the mystery and intrigue is just enough to keep you captivated and on the edge of your seat. It doesn't feel like there is any wasted effort or reading to explain or build a character.
Thank you Travis, it is a delight to read these books.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic conclusion to the trilogy
When I first saw that there was going to be another Awaken Online series before any more books in the main storyline, I was a little annoyed. I was wrong. The Tarot books are terrific, not only as a great story with deeper characters than the prime series, but also as a trove of information about the backstory and mechanics of Awaken Online that would have never fit well in the other books but will be critical down the line. Really stuck the landing, can't wait for more

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved the way this ended
I started reading this arc of awaken online while I was waiting for the next book in the series. I am glad I did the Tarot arc is great and opens another area of the world and introduces a great set of characters. This last book was a lovely blend of various ideas plus all sorts of battles and illusions. A lot of team work in this one. The end ties neatly into the main strand of awaken online. A good book that was a pleasure to read.

2.0 out of 5 stars Enemies without personality are bad even as fillers.
The book begins a few in-game days after the battle with Bileal, in the city of the Kamshin. The introduction to the city and its different factions unfolds quickly, but in the same way presents the opportunity to send the protagonist and his team to a dungeon (again).
However, the way he narrates the progress in the dungeon becomes repetitive and boring quite quickly, he barely manages to advance the story towards the outcome and the characters had no development until the moment they end the dungeon which takes at least 1/3 of the book.
His previous book also suffered from prolonging the stay in the dungeon with unimportant enemies, simple mobs without personality. But there were interesting parts where the development of the characters progressed managing to liven up the time spent.
This time around, it feels like a soulless filler, as if he's trying to compulsorily comply with a specific number of words just to lengthen the book.
That said, the second half of the book becomes interesting and manages to regain the reader's attention (not without their doing their part) by returning to the development of its main character.
He finishes in a great cliff hanger but thinking they way he has written the last two books really makes me think twice if I wanna continue reading this saga.
It definitely does not have the quality that it showed us in "Unity", if you told me that the Tarot saga was not written by the same author I would definitely believe it.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE ABSOLUTE BOMB!!!!!
More people NEED to read this book. The entire tarot series was a pleasure to read, and Travis Bagwell has done a great job wrapping everything up in a neat tight bundle in this last book.
I would strongly recommed that you read the original awaken online series(the first book in this series is Catharsis) first though, because that gives you a more complete overview of the game world and its mechanics. It also makes the ending of this book SO much more satisfying. If you're thinking bout reading this, don't hesitate. You won't regret it.
