AUTHOR's NOTE: Please read before purchasing this book. This is a "what if" book. It is not Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. This story is NOT cannon. If you are looking for that type of book, then perhaps this is not the book for you. If you are not, then please continue ...

What if….Elizabeth Bennet outranked Fitzwilliam Darcy?

The familiar love story featuring two of the most celebrated characters in our history comes to life again in a “what if” story with a twist. Elizabeth and Darcy are in love and plan to marry, until Elizabeth comes face to face with Lady Catherine De Bourgh. Although standing strong during the worst confrontation of Miss Elizabeth’s life, she soon realizes that she cannot marry Mr. Darcy and refuses him. Futile attempts by Mr. Darcy to win her back fail, until he finds out the most astonishing information about Elizabeth Bennet.

Amy Cecil is an award-winning Indie author of both historical and contemporary romance. Her penchant for Austen fan fiction, won her the title of Favorite Historical Romance Author (2016-2017) while her MC series has won several awards throughout the Indie community. Recently, she has expanded her repertoire to the thriller and erotic genres.

For as long as she can remember, Amy always had a book (or two) that she was reading for the love of getting lost within its pages. Amy has been heard to have said, “I’ve never given much thought to becoming a writer myself until I realized that if I hadn’t written my own version of Mr. Darcy, I might have run out of material to read.”

And thus, her first novel was born, A Royal Disposition. In the words of Miss Austen herself, “I wish as well as everybody else to be perfectly happy; but, like everybody else, it must be in my own way.” Ms. Cecil writes to do just that.

She lives in North Carolina with her husband, Kevin, and their four dogs. When she isn’t creating her next masterpiece, or traveling the country for book signings, she enjoys spending time with her husband, friends, and of course her fur babies.

Fascinating story in which Elizabeth Bennet is really not Mr. and Mrs. Bennet's child. Somehow Lizzy didn't think she belonged to the Bennets. Could it be that she was disliked by her mother and was shamed by her two younger sisters? Age ten, being curious Lizzy, she asked her father. He explains that they indeed are not her birth parents, but he is her uncle and that her mother died shortly after birth, and her distraught father killed himself over the grief. She came to them at three months old to be raised by the Bennets. At the infamous Meryton Assembly, Darcy makes his awful statement about her beauty, walks away but returns to apologize. Stunned by the comment, she is still seated where he stood. Remaining to talk to her, he assures her that he did not speak the truth, and she was beautiful. They did not dance, but they enjoyed talking. When she walks four miles to Netherfield to take care of Jane, he is completely enamored with her, and they both share some secrets that they've never shared with relative strangers. Love immediately happens, and he requests her hand in marriage. This happens so quickly in the storyline that Mr. Collins is still at Longbourn. Bingley's ball is quite the affair. Darcy's aunt and uncle, Lord and Lady Matlock, Bingley's aunt and uncle, Lord and Lady Murray, and Prince Frederick, the Duke of York and Albany. Prince Frederick accepts because Netherfield means something to him, and he is trying to reconnect. Mr. Collins' proposal was rejected the day after the ball, and now she is engaged to Darcy. He is angry, mad, furious, and vindictive. He immediately returns to Rosings to blab. The evil witch from Rosings shows up and really does a number on Lizzy causing her to break the engagement. Collins, with a smirk on his face, is pleased with himself. Both are in London by design of Georgiana and Richard, but after months Darcy is rejected again. Hurt, he feels destroyed, leaves on horseback to Pemberley. When his horse returns to Pemberley, a search party finds him five miles from home. Georgiana sends a message to Lizzy, panicked that her brother will not live, and she needs her as well as Darcy. Lizzy is shocked when she sees Darcy and when the doctor says there's no change in his status, there is little hope. Lizzy refuses to leave his side, praying to God, reading to him, talking to him of her undying love, and when that fails screaming at him that he can't leave her. When he finally wakes and opens his eyes, he is staring at his beautiful Lizzy. He now refuses her when she wants to leave and after hashing everything out, she tells him she will not leave and run anymore. Darcy now recovered, sets the wedding in London for three weeks. Lizzy, Georgiana, Mrs. Gardiner, Lady Matlock, and Colonel Fitzwilliam travel ahead of Darcy, Mr. Gardiner, and Lord Matlock to buy her wedding trousseau and dresses that she'll need in the next couple of weeks. Darcy also tells Georgiana to order a particular color dress especially from him to match the heirloom necklace given to her by her birth father. When the gentlemen return to London, at the same time her receives a blackmail letter from Wickham, and Lizzy a letter from Mary telling them that Lydia has run off with Wickham. The plot thickens. Darcy, Colonel Fitzwilliam, and Lizzy's birth father take off for Ramsgate to deal with Wickham's treachery. I'd love to see his face when his demands are thrown in his face, and he finds out that Lizzy is not a Bennet, and Darcy's terms will be accepted or the Tower of London will be his home until his death is decided. At their Wedding Ball held by the Matlocks, Mr. Bennet, her birth father, her uncle on her father's side, and her uncle on her mother's side are all present for the invited TON to see. Caroline's remarks throughout the ballroom throw Lizzy into the same rejected feelings that she'll destroy the Darcys, but Darcy reasons with her, and with chin up, faces the naysayers. At dinner her heritage is declared and the naysayers are stunned to silence. Wedding day arrives, and Lady Catherine and Mr. Collins try one more time to stop Darcy from marrying Lizzy. When her birth father steps in, his threats far override hers, and she is silenced forever. Yes, good story and a great read.

I'm always a sucker for original storylines. So I loved the idea of Elizabeth actually outranking Darcy. The story was very sweet and certainly had its share of angst. I loved Frederick and his story and enjoyed reading about his great love and eventually his love for Elizabeth.

However, a couple of things kept me from giving it 5 stars. 1) the story was very simplified. While I do believe an author can go overboard with descriptions, this was just straight to the point and things were resolved in like a page. Not the worst thing in the world but then I get to my next reason for the 4 stars. 2) the grammar/spelling. I can deal with some mistakes here and there but this story had errors all over the place and the majority had to do with the wrong word being used. I don't know who was to blame, but it was very distracting.

I'd definitely recommend this story for its originality (if you're willing to suspend reality), and wouldn't mind reading it again.

What if Elizabeth listens to Lady Catherine's tirade about how Elizabeth's low rank and connections would disgrace the Darcy name, and they would be shunned by family and friends? Would Elizabeth break their engagement to protect Darcy and Georgiana from disgrace?

That is what happen's in Pride and Prejudice: A Royal Disposition. Early on in the story, we learn that Elizabeth is not a Bennet, but the daughter of Prince Fredrick, the Duke of York. She is of royalty and out ranks Darcy. Elizabeth doesn't know this, and she thinks she is the daughter of Mr. Bennet's deceased sister. Mr. Bennet has kept this secret even from his wife.

Elizabeth, fearing that Darcy will come to resent her, believes she is doing the right thing by breaking their engagement. When Darcy learns the secret of Elizabeth's true identity, he patiently waits to reveal the truth for the right time. The question is, will the truth bring them back together or will it drive them further apart?

I liked how the first time Elizabeth sees Darcy at the Meryton Assembly she is drawn to him. She is able to discern that underneath that proud, disagreeable surface is a strong and honorable man. She was also able to see right through Wickham's lies.

I liked the Duke, and his story with Lady Sophia, Elizabeth's biological mother. Lady Sophia was the Duke's true love, but to build an alliance with Prussia, King George commanded that the Duke marry his cousin Charlotte. That was a decision the Duke would regret the rest of his life.

The storyline was enjoyable. I liked Elizabeth being royalty, and the obstacles that Darcy and Elizabeth face, but, unfortunately, I felt the story lacked emotion, and obstacles that Elizabeth and Darcy faced were removed too easily. I would have like to see Mr. Bennet or the Duke get mad at Darcy for interfering. Everything just went along at an even keel.

I did enjoy the story. There are some interesting twists and turns. I look forward to reading Amy Cecil's next novel, Relentless Considerations -- A Tale of Pride and Prejudice.

Miss Elizabeth Bennet is considered impertinent, but she is always kind. Not a true Bennet she is not always considered or treated kindly by Mrs. Bennet . For Mr. Bennet, however she is " his Lizzy " his favorite and most intelligent daughter. We have some of the usual antagonists taken to new heights of arrogance.. Wickham thinks he has played his hand well and can make Darcy bend to his commands when he compromises Lydia Bennet, but the way he is thwarted is absolutely masterfully achieved with the help of both of Elizabeth's Fathers . I found myself cheering in several spots. I thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful story, I'm sure you will too.

I think some of the reviews were a bit overly critical. It’s fan fiction, not War and Peace, and the writing is not written in perfect regency style. If you can get past that, you’ll enjoy it I think. I liked the storyline and premise of the book very much. Even though the beginning chapters followed much of canon, it does skip the misunderstandings between ODC, and Elizabeth never falls for Wickham’s charms or lies about Darcy. I get so tired of that. Even so, Lizzy has to be stubborn Lizzy at some point, but it it all works out eventually. Minimal proofreading errors are a plus as well.

A new way of retelling the story of our beloved couple Elizabeth and Fitzwilliam Darcy. It is my great joy of reading more new approach of my favorite Pride and Prejudice variations. Loved every bit of this story. Will love to read more if The story starts from their childhood and mutual love growing as child couple that will always be their happily ever after union.

    Sehr unterhaltsam

I have now read this story twice now. I loved the fact that Elizabeth is part of the royal family. Revenge on Caroline Bingley, Lady Catherine and Wickham was very funny. I loved how the duke went with Darcy and Fitzwilliam to sort out Wickham revealing that Elizabeth is his daughter. At the ball Caroline Bingley is left looking very silly when the prince regent states that Elizabeth is his beloved niece. Lady Catherine gets told off by the Duke when she tries to stop the wedding.

All in all a very funny book and a exceptional read.
