Albuquerque, Colorado Kindle Edition
For the two years since he left high-school, Eric Gray has been working in the Scrubton Diner, casting aside any chance of something better so that he can support himself and his sick mom. Between mopping down tables, serving customers and keeping a watchful eye on the schoolkids who come in to play the arcade machine, he makes just enough to keep them both comfortably housed and fed.
But there’s a side perk to working in the only food joint in a town on the edge of literally nowhere: Albuquerque Robbins. Each day, for an hour at lunchtime, the gorgeous mine worker sits at the counter with his crossword, nursing a mug of black coffee and looking like a literal dream come true. Albuquerque Robbins, who once saved a kid from drowning, who all the guys wanted to be and all the girls wanted to be with, who used to play quarterback on the football team.
And who Eric has been in love with since he first knew what love was.
Author’s Note: This 80s set, sweet M/M romance brings together two of the cutest characters you can imagine. Sprinkle on a little self-doubt, a little angst and a lot of love, and you have a quick, delicious short story that will leave you feeling full of the joys of life.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 25, 2020I loved this short story! The anticipation of starting a new relationship along with the fear of rejection can be terrifying. This story gave me goosebumps in the anticipation of this sweet moment! Its perfect!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 23, 2020Basically a vignette about two guys fantasizing about one another. I'm sure every gay guy has had this fantasy at one time or another.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 11, 2020The story portrays the angst of Eric combating the stereotypes of a bigoted small city. Catching small glimpses of his crush sitting at the counter on his lunch break. What if others notice…what if he notices? The entire story takes place in a diner in a tiny city in Colorado. It is a short story….so do not want to give ANY spoilers away. I am amazed that the author could pack such a powerfully emotional story in so few pages and in one location.
My only complaint…. NOTHING. Unless you count wanting a sequel!
Albuquerque, Colorado is that feel-good, warm-n-fuzzy short story that everyone needs in their life now. Lets face it, given the year we have had…..we all can use a short break. Use this short story to fill the void! It is worth it.
Good read! No doubt about it.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 3, 2020Leaving me wanting more! I guess I didn't realize how "short" this story actually was. LOL Now I need to read the rest! Don't leave me hanging!!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 6, 2020This story is about a cute young man working in a diner and his secret crush, a handsome mine worker. It focuses on the first time they acknowledge their attraction, but ends there, without any development of the relationship.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 21, 2020I really loved this short and sweet story. Eric has had a crush on Al since they were teenagers. Eric has spent so many of his days working at the diner and lusting over the hot and rugged miner named Al. The last thing he would ever believe be possible is happening right before his own eyes when Al notices him in a way that makes his heart skip a beat. Could Al really want Eric like he wanted Al? This was just such a sweet little story! I would love it if the author ever gave these two a longer story. I really enjoyed them.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 21, 2020Albuquerque, Colorado is such a nice feel good read. It made me laugh and smile about the whole way through. I did not want it to end! I really like that the backstory/set-up of the book is in the description so you could hop right in to the main part of the story.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 2, 2020Eric worked in the Scrubton Diner, surviving while taking care of his sick Mom. Al Robbins, was Eric's dream man. He was the superstar of the town. He was the goal of man and women. Eric suffered from extreme insecurity. Al needed his sister to help reach his goals. Does Al find his courage? Does Eric find himself? Navigating relationship can be difficult, until you take the first step. Cute story. I received an ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
