Alistair in Wonderland: An MM Shifter Paranormal Fantasy Romance (Wonderland Ever After Book 1) Kindle Edition
Alistair falls down the rabbit hole and becomes the new Alice. Can he save Wonderland’s magic by falling in love with his fated mate?
My life sucks until Bianco shows up. He’s a gorgeous albino who promises me a fun adventure while looking like a handsome prince from a fairy tale. I happily follow him down the rabbit hole in the hopes of getting up to some sexy shenanigans.
Imagine my shock when I discover he’s the famous White Rabbit from the books and one of the last shifters left in Wonderland! Even more surprising is finding out I’m a descendant of the original Alice, which means I’m the only person who can bring the missing magic back to their world.
That’s all well and good, but our incredible chemistry is highly distracting. It’s impossible to resist our intense attraction when I’m his fated mate, so why bother trying? But maybe there’s a way to have it all.
What if forming a mating bond with Bianco is the way to make all my dreams come true and save Wonderland at the same time?
Alistair in Wonderland is the first book in the Wonderland Ever After series. This sweet-with-heat MM paranormal fantasy romance features affectionate shifters, fated mates, and a magical gay romance. These books have hilarious characters to adore, a lot of sexy fun times, and no angst love stories that make you laugh and swoon. Escape into this Wonderland full of whimsy, where everyone gets a HEA without cliffhangers. Each book can be read as a standalone but is best enjoyed in order.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 21, 2022I enjoyed this first time foray to the paranormal side by the author and was charmed by the updated characterizations of familiar Wonderland faces. The story is a quirky mix of known comfort and shiny newness at the same time. While the actual timeline in the book is quite short and this contains what is ultimately a fated mating bond, the fall from lust to love between Alistair and Bianco is detailed and feels natural. The character building is well done and parceled out over the course of the story so that all of the “main” characters are well known by the end and while the upcoming pairs seem obvious, the details will likely be a surprise. I’m quite looking forward to seeing Cheshire lead his King of Hearts on a merry, mischievous chase.
4 1/2 stars
- Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2023This book was so sweet it almost made my teeth hurt. And it’s a slow slow burn. That’s the only reason for 4 stars.. once it gets going they go at it like the rabbit Bianco is but it really was about 70% before that sexy times really got started.
Ariella has taken the amazing story of Alice in Wonderland and added a mm shifter fated mates twist to it. Loved all the characters and how they were both true to their namesakes yet had all their own good vibes as well.
I cannot wait to read the next book and find out how Cheshire will get finally get his man.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 9, 2023I've never seen Alice in Wonderland (gasp! I know) but I know who the characters are so this was a FANTASTIC read because I had nothing to compare it to other than the names lol
This book was a GREAT intro into the series and I loved how descriptive it was because you felt like you could actually be in Wonderland. It was also low drama and a fun into to the series.
I'm usually don't read a lot of series but I loved how the other characters were introduced in this book in a seamless and captive way to where it keeps you interested enough to finish the series, because how can you not? I WANT that HEA for Cheshire and Rei❤can't wait for their book next!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 15, 2022I am such a fan of Ariella books and love the Wonderland world, so bringing the 2 together was perfect. I love the shifter, fated mates, insta-love concept even if no one wanted to really acknowledge it was happening. It really fit with the story line. Being reintroduced to the characters in a new way was so exciting, but still keeping with their original personalities.. If you love books with lots of love, magic, and a new take on an old classic this book is for you. It is amazing and a must read. Can't wait for the rest of the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 21, 2022This book is a great start to this series visiting the wonderful Wonderland. Alistair and Bianco's story is so interesting and fun to read. Now I can't wait for King Rei and Cheshire's story next.
I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion
- Reviewed in the United States on October 22, 2022I have always loved Alice in Wonderland and this MM retelling is absolutely frabjous! I love this author’s books and was not disappointed in the least. This is a sweet, spicy, and wonderful story of Alistair returning to Wonderland and returning its magic. No angst sore even danger here. Just exploring a connection and solving the problem of the missing magic. All of the classic characters are here and I can’t wait to hear their stories too. Bianco was perfect as the White Rabbit. Honestly it’s splendiferous! And now I am anxiously waiting for Cheshire’s tale!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 31, 2022Alistair in Wonderland is the first book in the Wonderland Ever After series, a new paranormal shifter take on the Alice in Wonderland tales. I really enjoyed the concept and setting of the series – the retelling and reimagining of the characters was creative and fun – and the added world building was well done and interesting. The only problem is that this book felt more like an introduction and setup for the next book in the series, and the plot was a little slow. Don’t get me wrong, this was still a fun book with a lot of cute and fluffy moments and some super hot intimate moments. It did make me really excited to read the next book in the series, Cheshire in Heartland, because darn it, King and Rei and Cheshire deserve their happy ever after!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 16, 2023What a cute idea to remake a classic from a gay pov. Alistair needed to go down this rabbit hole. His life was crap from head to toe. Who would have thought in another world his life would be just the opposite? Bianco thought he was seeking out Alice to restore the magic in Wonderland, not realizing it would also fulfill the magic in his heart. Although it wasn't clear at first, it became apparent that Alistair would not only be the answer to fix Wonderland but also be the fated mate to Bianco. Two birds, one stone! A fun and steamy read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Adult desires meet childhood dreams
This isn't a serious book, it is light and fun and in that way so related to the original Wonderland books. The story has the sweet fulfillment of childhood wishes come true all while also answering to some very adult desires.
Alistair is related to the original Alice so when he finds himself following a very attractive man to what appears to be Wonderland he is delighted instead of freaked out. There he gets to see Wonderland but also finds that he has his own importance to the land. Bianco, the White Rabbit and a rabbit shifter, is his guide in the land and loves meeting this new "Alice". The two have an instant attraction but Wonderland and its magic come first, even as they keep coming back to each other. It ends up being a very sweet story with the promise of others to come!

5.0 out of 5 stars thinks it’s my favourite re-imagined story so far!
I’ve always love wonderland and the characters, but have got to say this is my favourite so far. They’re-imagined story is low angst, with enough spice and romance to meet my wants, and as a bonus I get to fall in love with more characters too. Can’t wait for their stories!

4.0 out of 5 stars a fun read
i never imagined i would like this book so much because i'm not even a fan of alice in wonderland. but the characters are so adorable and fun i read this book within two days. it's a slow burn and can be a bit tiring because some things are written all over again but i don't regret reading it and i'm claiming part two right after i sent this 🍬

5.0 out of 5 stars A fun fantastical read
This book was so much fun to read. As a massive fan of wonderland, it was a joy to be introduced to the characters in a new and unique way. I loved reading Allistar and Bianco finding their HEA. Like all of Ariella’s books, it contains low angst, a sweet love story and fun s*xy times. Can’t wait to read the next one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Low angst and full of quirky magic
3.5/5 rounded up. This book definitely delivered on the promise of low angst. I would have preferred a little more romance/wooing and a little less sex, but I enjoy fated mates as a trope, and it often leads to some shortcuts in the relationship building because the characters know it’s “meant to be” (sometimes subconsciously to start).
The immediate sex between Bianco and Alistair made me uncomfortable, though less for the actual BJ (though it definitely was fast!) and more for Bianco plastering himself to Alistair from behind at an event. I just found that creepy between strangers and especially awkward because Alistair is basically working the event for his job. I guess I hadn’t suspended disbelief to a magical connection yet and it was just too close to how someone could have been put into an extremely uncomfortable position IRL (especially given how uncaring Alistair’s boss was).
All the side characters helped fill out the richness of this world (and create a bit of drama), and I was definitely invested in Cheshire/Rei, Vivalter/Hatter, March and Renner (together?), etc. The shapeshifter twist definitely added to the fun of Wonderland. Twinkle and Cheshire were hugely appealing and entertaining—I guess I would have liked a bit more cuddles and talking with the two MCs. It was fun to contrast the “real” Wonderland with the books and see Alistair’s surprise as he got to know the real people.
I’m looking forward to seeing more in this world and watching more characters get their HEAs.
