There's no force greater than a parent's need to protect their child.

Rhys is overworked, underpaid, and out of shape. Although, when he comes face to face with a plague spilling out of the Alpha Tower, none of those things matter. First and foremost, Rhys is a father.

The Alpha Plague is a fast-paced post-apocalyptic series that starts with one man's need to save his son, before accelerating into a thrill ride than spans decades and generations.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 11, 2024This is a post-apocalyptic story unlike others in that we get to see its origins. Although, throughout the story, there are some flaws in the present/past/present jumps, I found the story intriguing and engaging. The interplay between the characters of Rhys, Vicky, Larrisa, Dave and Oscar/Branden is well crafted. I must say, however, how any of these screwups manage to survive any part of this saga is amazing to me.
The premise of this story is really unique in that I could really see this scenario happening! With the powers that exist in government these days we could well find ourselves in just this world. God help us should that be. Having said that, I 'm not sure I can wade through another few (or several) books in this series because these have taken such an emotional toll!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 26, 2024Zombies is what makes the world go round, and this was no surprise. It took a little bit to get to them but once the story did, it was a bit different than the regular zombie story. And what was it with Brenden?
- Reviewed in the United States on September 12, 2024A bit reminiscent of Resident Evil, but not by a Corp, but by the UK government this time, to win a Cold War. The characters are believable, although they seem to have horrible luck most of the time.
None of the characters are white knights or high ladies, but the author succeeds in making you get behind them, and cheer their survival on.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2016Too much stupid repeating of one swear word, both male and female. I am 74 yeasrs old and I used to swear when I was young and my friends swore but we used other words not just one. the story line was interesting I liked that part.

To finish story
- Reviewed in the United States on February 24, 2019I read lots of Zombie books. This is set in a future I don’t like. Not only is it sad to listen to the daily life, the government control is awful. The characters are all flawed humans that have to reach inside and pull hard to get through this day. I already got the next three in the series. I’m interested enough to see what happens next.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 16, 2016I believe it necessary to start with this - I absolutely HATE the zombie hype that has saturated the market for quiet some time now. I simply can't wrap my head around idiots running from, or subjecting themselves to, mindless beings that bite. This said, I was skeptical when picking up the Alpha Plague series. True to Mr. Robertson's style, he added his own flare and twist. With the Alpha Plague series 1-3, he presents a fabulous depiction of what could be if biological warfare became more creative and sinister..... I am hooked and those who know me can't believe it.
Alpha Plague begins with Rhys, an out-of-shape pathetic desk jockey, focused on seeing his six-year-old son (Flynn) more often. Suddenly, his world is severely altered with an explosion, screams, and a beautiful stranger breaking through his funk to save him. Vicky hesitantly teams up with Rhys to escape Summit City's rapidly growing diseased population and reconnect with his son. Once out, they learn the diseased have escaped the Summit City, Flynn is saved, and then the words "what about mum" are uttered..... Back to the city Rhys goes while Vicky babysits Flynn nearby. Rhys saves his ex Larissa with the help of a mysterious limping liar who calls himself Oscar. Finally, each are pushed beyond their physical limits to reconnect with Vicky and Flynn while avoiding becoming one of the diseased.
It was the consistent use of "diseased" instead of "zombies" (actually mocking the zombie genre in a way and making a East vs West Cold War more serious and dramatic), the fast pace, and the unexpected twist of sympathy and pact mentality between the diseased that keep me reading. On to the 4th installment .....

2.0 out of 5 stars a read, but not a depth read
The story featured shallow character development. Was a read, but allowed me to skip paragraphs and miss nothing.

5.0 out of 5 stars High octane and gripping
New to this author and I must say...I WILL be reading more. High octane thrills throughout. Our 'hero's faces dilemma after dilemma . I read the first there books in two days, unable to wait how he'd survive his latest predicament. Well worth a read in my humble opinion

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent read
Great plot. Left me wanting more. Perhaps more swearing than needed? Fresh take on zombie theme. I would definitely recommend it
