Releasing the Wolf: Dark Paranormal Fantasy for the Call of the Wild in Us All (Eye Of The Storm Book 1) Kindle Edition
(Book One of the Eye Of The Storm series.)
Lydia Martin has always had dreams, the weirdest and hottest of them all involving a faceless, muscle-bound man that speaks like sin and smells like sex. Like any sane person, she always put the dreams down to an overactive imagination, coupled with a higher than average libido.
One night, however, instead of their usual, erotic encounters, she finds him in her dream, chained to a wall and screaming in pain. Not only that, but she thinks she recognises the building he's being held captive in as one that's just a few streets away.
Awaking with an irrepressible need to save her fantasy lover, Lydia decides to humour her dream self and head on over to where she thinks he's imprisoned.
What unfolds is beyond even her wildest imaginings, as she's sucked into a dangerous and deadly world she never knew existed ... and it turns out that the man who inhabits her darkest fantasies, isn't the only one that needs releasing.

About the author

Dianna Hardy is an author of cross-genre fantasy fiction, most notable for her explicit-yet-soulful, dark-yet-light style, and the raw, intense Eye of the Storm werewolf series. But her heart-warming Once Times Thrice series proves she can weave her way through contemporary romantic fiction as well as fantasy.
She loves to bring you stories that are action-packed, fast-paced and not short of heat, with the focus on character development, relationship dynamics, and the plot. She writes full-length novels and short fiction.
Since 2012, a number of her books have reached the top 30 of the Fantasy, Romance, and Horror charts on Kindle and Apple Books.
In her private life, Dianna loves anything paranormal (she doesn't really consider it "para"), organic food, coffee, walking barefoot, the smell of the woods after rain, and summer days.
She lives in South Hampshire, U.K., with her partner and their daughter, where she writes full-time.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 13, 2014Having read the reviews for this I am reminded of the fact that reading is subjective but still I am puzzled by how different we readers see things. I love this author. She has an ability to dig her way into all of our senses so that the story comes alive and we need to keep reading and know more. It doesn't matter the story line, well, yes it does in that this is about wolves and if you don't like paranormal you may not read this because of the subject matter, but ultimately it is about the writing and if it is well-done then the subject matter is more than acceptable. This is what happens when you reach for the pages of this author.
I won't do spoilers but it is sufficient to say that the mating this series revolves around is an unusual one with very hot sex and multiple players involved but do not dismiss this as some little erotic novel thrown out by the writer. This book is about belonging, confusion of identity and the family you are not necessarily born into, and about love, deep, strong and abiding.
There is a strong plot building and believe me Lydia is a character we can easily get attached to as her life changes in some highly charged ways. The book however is short and although there isn't a cliff hanger as such, there is a continuance into the next book that is hard to ignore and sometimes readers can be annoyed by this. Trust me it is worth every moment to continue. This is a great series from an extraordinary writer who pushes us into accepting situations simply by a clever manipulation of language and emotions, and this is what reading is all about.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 5, 2015This is a hot and steamy romance, full on werewolf story, that led me straight on to books 2 & 3.
Looking back now I find this book not nearly as fabulously written as those ongoing books. It wasn't a must for me to move on to the next book, but it was certainly worth it.
This novel is well written and definitely has an action driven romance solidly inscribed into the book.
I believe the most difficulty I'm having with this review is that book 2 is so very much better. The tale becomes immaculately superior and the story line is a much more delicately drawn out story, with more relevant mood setting material and a truly twining tale. Book 3 once again creates a tale where we truly stumble over our own feet with the tangled web others around us weave.
The bottom line is that I'm positive I've read these first 3 books before and I've solidly worked through them again. I'm pretty sure, however, that I haven't read book 4 which I'm now holding possessively to my chest. I expect the timing for the release of book 4 is why I've missed it pulling into the station.
I grade the sexual content in novels by what I would or wouldn't read on a work day commute, so my most ardent advice here is don't read this on the train. The sex has jumped into be with my hot & steamy rating. Sounds good to me.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 16, 2016I wanted to like this book completely. It started out well. Lydia was a bit snarky but still likeable for the most part. She had an amazing mate Ryan that she shared dreams with for ten years. Still good. Then a twist had to be added where she ended up mated to three guys who she didn't share a real connection with. I just could not get that. She was also a little hard headed for me but that was still not a deal breaker.
With the whole four way coming, I will exit the series now.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 30, 2015Lydia is a young woman struggling to make a life for herself. Strange things are beginning to happen to her. Strange dreams about a man loving her have become increasingly more frequent. It is a shock to her entire way of thinking when she finally finds out what it all means. This is really a terrific tale that I didn't even consider putting down. There is a glitch when turning some pages the continuity of the sentences is lost. Some words just didn't make the turn of the page. Not a real problem because you can surmise what is missing. I will be reading the rest of the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2017Good pace, nice writing style. It doesn't have a stupid heroine, healthy attitude towards sex, different characters with different personalities so they don't blend in together. Overall a great read and I'll be diving in to read the next parts as soon as possible.

I can’t express how much; I fell in love with the story and characters! I love them, I want more! And the men? (Yeah, there are 3 werewolves!) They are pure Hotness! So, any doubt in to reading this? Just Go!

4.0 out of 5 stars Diamond in the rough!
So I’ve had this book for quite some time and just never picked it up but I’m glad I did.
Releasing the wolf is a novella and first in its series, so it’s quite quick to get through. It’s also a paranormal fantasy RH, a slow build as the love interests aren’t accustomed to sharing.
It’s written well and sets some pretty big building blocks for future books. Whilst it doesn’t end on a cliffhanger per se, the series must be read in order and probably a good thing that it’s a complete series so you can read them back to back.

5.0 out of 5 stars A HOT READ!
Review 6*****
I love reading paranormal romances, so when I found out that the author was releasing this one in December last year, I quickly got myself a copy. Unfortunately, I have only now just managed to get to read it. I am kicking myself for not reading it sooner, because I absolutely LOVED it!
Lydia Martin is a fantastic character. She thinks herself to be a normal woman, with a very high libido and who dreams of a mystery lover. However, she soon finds out she is not who she thought she was, and her world will never be the same again. I loved her character growth as she discovered who, and what, she was.
It is difficult to do a character breakdown of the other members of this story without giving away any spoilers, so I'm not even going to try. However, I will say that Ryan, Taylor and Lawrence are H.O.T.!!! and leave it at that. *Fanning myself here!!* ;)
This an extremely fast paced story that is full of danger, mystery, intrigue and sexy scenes! I struggled to put it down! In fact, I read it in one sitting. There are a few twists and turns that surprised me, but there is a huge twist near the end that completely threw me! I loved it, but I may never look at wolf packs the same way again! The cliffhanger at the end has me looking forward to reading the next book in the series, Cry Of The Wolf.
Dianna Hardy is on my favourite authors list, and I would read anything she writes. Her books are well written and extremely entertaining. The characters are extremely lifelike and likeable. However, a word of warning: this story contains scenes of explicit sex and some violence. Therefore, I do not recommend this book to younger readers (16-). I do, however, highly recommend this book if you love erotic paranormal romances. - Lynn Worton

The Review
Well I saw the author talk about this on facebook and I thought mmmm sounds just up my street and do you know what? It was, I really loved this book, I am so looking forward to Book 2, I cannot wait to hear more about The Pack, Ryan, Lawrence and my favourite tortured soul Taylor, The little teaser at the back of the book, OK, The epilogue, promises there will be a lot more to look forward to, This is definitely only for over 18's, Lydia was a very complex character, who did not know what she was, she actually made an appointment to see a therapist, she was having doubts about herself, but pulled herself together when she needed to, She could stick up for herself when it was called for, her dreams were wicked and I hope I get dreams like that, *Hot* I loved all the main male characters, each had their own complexities, Lawrence (the researcher and muscle) Ryan (The Muscle and Leader) and Taylor (The male with issues and the muscle) Did I say Muscle? Yeah there was a lot of it, I could picture each of them in my head and saw the whole book play out as a film, I love when I can picture a book like that, Book 2 will be highly anticipated on my kindle, recommended to all my friends, 5/5
