Niel Bushnell is an award-winning science-fiction and fantasy author based in the north-east of England.

As well as writing a number of Doctor Who audiobooks, Niel is the author of the Arkship Saga, a science-fiction series set in the distant future after the Earth has been destroyed along with the rest of the solar system in a cataclysmic event known as the Fracture. He is also the author of two time-travel children's books called Sorrowline and Timesmith, and a Young-Adult novel called Altitude.

An accomplished artist and animator, Niel has worked in the creative sector for over twenty years, across film, TV, online, games, advertising and publishing.

    The Kenric-Draig Alliance had been around for a while, not because they liked each other, but because Prince Halstead cared for his people. But things are changing and not for the better.

    The saga continues with the solar system in total chaos. The Prince is still having issues with everyone and the Church is trying to crush anyone not aligned with them.
    I hope the final book, Omega, provides a lot more drama and action than Prophesy did.

    This book carries the story of Halstead and his people along nicely. There is a point where compromise for peace becomes untenable and Halstead may have reached his break. Bushnell has painted his characters with depth and passion using human failings and consequences realistically. I look forward to the next book. I received this book for free and wished to leave a review.

    Book Five is better than I expected. I hope Neil Bushnell keeps finding more avenues to advance the storyline.

    Arkship Prophecy is a much more philosophical novel compared to the first 4 books in the saga and I missed more of the exciting action. However, it had a great twist at the end and many lingering questions were beginning to be answered.

    The release of a new book in the Arkship saga is always a preorder and then a welcome read. Book 5 begins with a tragic start as a much loved character is unexpectedly killed early doors, before jumping 5 years for the rest of the story. The main characters separate for much of the book; An older Prince Halstead has to juggle closer links to the Church despite a terrorist bombing from one of his own. Scribe Mori is using his Church to pressure the alliance to accept their doctrines and take The Devotion. Gorfal the sentient bot who has seen the future, has his own following and embarks on his own quest; Bara, Halstead’s ex-wife also is also keen to avoid the rising church and runs into the the mysterious Merred family. In particular, the secretive Merreds are great new characters and look forward to seeing more of them. More Arkships, more locations, more characters and more twists leading up to the next (possibly last?) book.

    This was a great book as were all the previous ones. What is disappointing me now is "where is book 6 - Arkship: Omega" - it was available for pre-order and disappeared and there has been no sign of it since. I check constantly.
