GIRLFRIEND, INTERRUPTED, was released by Sapere Books, June 2018.
Her debut novel, AWFUL BY COMPARISON, was released in August 2016.

Patricia Caliskan began her writing career as an arts and entertainment journalist, before joining Reach PLC as commercial editor across a portfolio of magazine titles.
Patricia likes a nice, flouncy scarf, a good pair of boots, and laughter. Lots of laughter. Otherwise life feels far too grown-up for her liking.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 17, 2016What a wonderful book! I will say it was a little slow to start but picked up quite nicely. This book is incredibly funny and quite charming. It also has some deep, meaningful subject matters like sibling relationships.
One sister, Lara outwardly has it all together, or does she? Her model career is all but over at 32. She's also working on her third marriage to a man who is no more than just a friend.
Another sister, Jennifer sees her life falling apart. She's lost her job, her apartment and now back home with her parents just before the holidays and working as an "elf" selling Christmas trees. Her life starts to come together and she meets a Veteran with two children. It's when she travels to New York for her sister's wedding where magic where begins to happen.
Great ending to a fun, light read.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 22, 2016Awful By Comparison brought us the story of two sisters, Laura and Jennifer. Growing up each sister thought the other sister had a better life. After Laura became a model early on in life she moved away from her family and became "Lara". Jennifer and her parents were under the impression that this was a once in a lifetime opportunity, but in the end this story brings to light issues in the modeling world. The unrealistic expectations, eating disorders, inappropriate touching, etc all kept hushed up and not talked about. Lara has had to endure all of this.
Jennifer's recent past hasn't been an easy one. She loses her boyfriend and her job within a short period of time. Unfortunately she was unable to secure another job and was forced to move out of her flat and back in with her childhood home with her parents. Down in the dump she accepts a Christmas job delivering Christmas Trees as an Elf. Throughout this story Jennifer struggles with what she wants.
During the Christmas vacation, Lara announces that she is got engaged for the third time but the biggest bomb is dropped on Christmas day when she lets everyone know the wedding is in a few days. Her parents decide not to attend, but Jennifer goes flies to New York with her. Jennifer feels that she wants to make a change and during this trip she meets a man.
Throughout all of the wedding drama that ensues, the biggest drama occurs minutes from the wedding. What happens, you will have to read to find out. The fall out from the wedding and how it changes Lara and Jennifer's lives is heart warming. So buy this book, sit back, relax, and enjoy a good time. It is nice to see that not every family is perfect.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not for me
This was an OK read, not normally what I would read so probably why I didn't enjoy it so much. Story is good but I didn't get the "laugh out loud" moments. Liked the competitiveness of the sisters, isn't that a normal family? Liked how it ended up though. I wouldn't say it was a bad read but just not what I was expecting but that's just me as it has had a lot of good reviews.

5.0 out of 5 stars Genuinly fantastic!
My wife made me read this after it had her in fits of laughter and tears. Why I gave in and read it I don't know, call me a sucker. But, after kicking and fighting I eventually downloaded it to my kindle. Damn it, its really fantastic! If you're not sure if you should spend the measely £2.99 on an author you may not have heard of...let me put that thought to rest...buy it!! You will not regret it, that much I can promise you!

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting read
I liked the book but found some of the characters odd. Do they really have such regimes in rehab, it's inhumane 🙂
