- Reviewed in the United States on October 13, 2016So many books, so little time to read. I listened to this audio book over a 3 day span, it would have been quicker but the battery on my Kindle Fire wears down quickly when listening to audio books! I was given a book by the author, not this book, and when I discovered there was a prequel to the series I decided to read it first. I'm glad I did. Now I'm 4 books into the series and it just keeps getting better! I'm a character reader, I get into the characters, their story, who/what they are. The author has done a great job of developing Georgia quickly & thoroughly throughout the first 3 books. The significant characters in her writing are developed similarly along the way. This book is in all senses of the word, a thriller, beginning with the revelation that Georgia has a sister! That’s it, no more spoilers from me though I can see more about this character in the future. As always, an outstanding listen, the narrator does a wonderful job as well!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 26, 2018I definitely enjoyed this Georgia Davis novel and will read more. I hope she ends up with Jimmy! Now if I could just post less than 20/words I would be great!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 5, 2016I love the character development in this book, and the way the point of view switches among characters. Georgia is a fierce, private, independent women who is very private due to her grim childhood. When she receives a mysterious note on the edge of a napkin with blood on it, a plea for help from a supposed half sister she hadn't even known existed, Georgia, a private investigator, (and former cop) pulls out all the stops to find this sister, Savannah. In the process of the investigation, Georgia becomes involved in a seamy underworld of Russian mafiosos and a sex ring of stolen young women forced into prostitution and even more evil doings. It's by turns, suspenseful, extremely frightening and a real page turner. I couldn't put it down until the very end, one I could not have predicted, and it left me anxious to get the next book in the series, wanting to know what happens to the protagonist, her half sister, and the former colleague, who has become her sometime lover.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 8, 2024The book has 2-3 page chapters which feel like interruptions in the story. That is one problem which takes away from the storyline. A retail store is robbed by "gang grab" thieves who run out of the store with arm loads of merchandise. Then drug sales enter the same picture. Plus we get drawn into missing sister, sex trafficking and finally murders! top it off with Russian bad guys!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2014So good to have another book featuring Georgia. Hellman addressed human trafficking in an earlier book featuring Ellie Foreman. I especially like reoccurring characters. I must have missed Georgia's dyslexia in previous books, and I was somewhat mystified that she could do so much research on the computer despite her reading challenge. William Kent Krueger also wrote about trafficking in Windigo Island. The two authors came at the subject from different directions, and I thought they both cast light on a disturbing prevalent problem. Hellman matures as a writer with each book she writes. I look forward to her next book.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 28, 2024This book bc caught my attention a chapter in. After that I had to keep reading all the time wondering how it could possibly come to an end. I think young and old will enjoy tremendously.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2015I bought this book last year on a recommendation from an email service when, it was on sale. After reading the first chapter I was convinced that I would have happily paid full price for it. I know that many of these free or inexpensive novels are introductions to new authors and attempt to get the reader hooked on a series character. Nobody's Child is certainly not the product of a rookie author, but it definitely has me hooked on her series and I plan on purchasing the rest of the Georgia Davis books as well as the Ellie Foreman mysteries (Ellie is a minor character in this book, but is the protagonist of her own series)
One of the earlier reviews claimed that this was a "teen novel", which had me scratching my head, It is definitely not young adult material. This is a dark, dark story involving very disturbing subject matter which, in less competent hands, could have become lurid and exploitative. Ms. Hellman has produced an exciting, extremely well-written book, that is very respectful of its subject matter. I won't go into plot details as they have been well covered in earlier reviews, but I will add my hearty recommendation to buy this book. You can thank me later.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 5, 2018This story grabs hold of you from the very beginning to the end.Mystery, suspense and thrills. But at the center just one really good read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nobody's fool
Why did it take me so long to read this book? Especially as once I started I couldn't put it down. I loved it. The story is told by two sisters and does jump around in time but this really works because Georgia works out the clues and Savannah explains how they were left. It was very cleverly done and everything gets explained nicely. There is a lot going on and you do get emotionally invested in what happens to the characters. It's a very serious subject (so don't go reading this is if you are expecting a cozy mystery) and this talented author isn't afraid to tackle the things people don't like to talk about let alone imagine, such organ harvesting, baby adoption rings, prostitution and even drug abuse. Off to see what other book by this author I have missed.
Private investigator Georgia Davis has always had a troubled family life but even she is shocked to learn she might have a half sister out in the world needing her help. The only clue she has is the wrapper the pleading note is written on and the fact that she is pregnant. Oh and the bloody smeared in the corner. Could somebody be setting her up? The possibility that she could have a half sister out there mean she has to try, even if it means going up against the Russian mob because for somebody like Georgia who has nobody the possibility of family is everything.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Real Thriller
An excellent and exciting story that is difficult to put down. The author has given the characters individual personalities which makes it more intriguing and guess what will be the outcome to escape the dangers that controls them. Look forward to another of her books as I closed this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sister found, Sister lost, Georgia Davis has a huge case to follow up on
I've had the privilege of reading several of Libby Fischer Hellman's books over the past few years and I have never found one I didn't enjoy! Her main characters are amazing, well-fleshed out, and comfortable to know. One thing I found interesting was how her characters interacted between books at times, sort of like brief cameos. Through all the various genres she has written, this one really stands out, perhaps mainly for its tone and subject.
Well written as always, there are so many different lines we could follow and never get lost. Georgia is an unusual person for having been a cop previous to becoming a private investigator; she has a few personal traits that hold her back from fulfillment, particularly friendly communication, but within her work abilities she definitely has the spunk and invaluable investigating gene. The subjects covered are unfortunately very real and very difficult to deal with, trafficking possibly most common whether drugs, artifacts, babies, young women, body parts, etc. Yet this happens all too often in the world of today. Libby definitely knows how to get acknowledgement of crimes found in many large cities, even smaller towns. These things don't just happen, these crimes are worldwide and she handles the content with feeling. Cleaning up any of them will be a long hard road for all fields of crime busting and freedom seeking. Friendly helpful conversation between Ellie Forman and Georgia Davis here and there in this story-line is brilliant. These are two characters who have their own books by this author, it isn't usual that you will find them in the same book, but personally I thought it was genius.
