ROMANTIC/SUSPENSE

Hailey Campbell was raised by “Big Mama” in a home filled with unconditional love and foster children. While the love of a family is a blessing, she finds that in her day-to-day struggles of trying to deal with this kooky puzzle called her life, the subject of true love will never hold any priority. Especially if you consider the latest Neanderthal who expected more than a courteous “good-night” after he just shared his two-for-one dinner coupon. Men—who needs them, right?

At her foster sister’s insistence, she attends a formal gathering of important dignitaries, and with a prideful lift of the chin, is content with sampling the high-end cuisine and expensive wine—alone. That is, until a very handsome waiter emerges from the chattering crowd of expensive tuxedos and glittering gowns. Manly is his name—and he has a fatal secret.

From that night on, that kooky puzzle begins to click together into one perfect piece. But in the middle of dealing with these new, mind-dizzying changes Manly is taking her through, she soon finds out that she has a dark secret, too. And it's waiting for her in Sweet Tea, Mississippi, holding her best friend’s sixteen-month old daughter, Abbie, captive.

I live in the deep south where the number four has two syllables. I somehow did not acquire that distinct Southern accent, but I am accustomed to expressions of "Yall", "Ain't", and when I'm really in a mood--"Ain't gonna!".

My daughter is my Queen, my best friend, and also my biggest supporter. I write clean Suspense and Romantic/Suspense/Thrillers with six books published so far.

One of my novels, ‘Cause She’s A Good Girl’, was featured on a popular Nashville Talk Show and awarded a Highly Recommended by BookWoman.

My favorite time of the year is tennis season. When The French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open are airing, you won't find me—unless you know where my 75” television set is. My daughter knows not to approach me during this time unless it's an emergency. Then I would point her toward the neighbor next door. Just kidding, she knows how to dial 911.

I’m also an avid reader, gardener, and I have an expensive habit of collecting crystal. Did I mention I'm addicted to bottled tea? At any given time, there will be at least 3-4 different labels of tea in my refrigerator.

I like interacting with other authors and readers on just about any subject. Thanks to all of you who have added me to their list of authors they are fans of. I'm so honored! And I love when people friend me:) I'm not a big fan of Facebook or Twitter, but I invite you all to contact me so we can talk books or whatever.

Tremond, CA. Vicente Security Firm. Hailey Campbell & Megan (wife/mother, Hailey’s BFF), were discussing the abuse that she/daughter Abbie (13 months) put up with from Ronnie (husband/father).
News flash: The First-Trust Bank (Luca Ave) was robbed & blown up by a bomb.
Later, Hailey was in the hospital recovering from a broken right ankle, 2 cracked ribs, a concussion, & bruised right shoulder.
Dr. Wilson was attending to her.
Big-Mama explained to her the VSF was sabotaged by a bomb. She was lucky to be alive.
Tony Vicente (Italian, boss/owner Vicente Security Firm; VSF), Megan & 2 others were killed instantly.

Malcolm (foster brother, med student), Shondra (14, foster sister), Dorothy, & Vivica (foster sister, Harvard law student) tried to comfort her the best they could.
Uncle Wendall (PTSD, retired military, Desert Storm), John, & Daniel (3) welcomed her back home.
LA, CA. Recovered somewhat, Vivica & Hailey went to a huge fancy party.
Weeks later Hailey got a call from Manley (African, waiter) asking her out on a date.
Brittany (14, foster sister) is the newest arrival to Big Mama’s Hudson foster home.
Another news flash: an African Prince (leader) from Sierra Adembu had been assassinated.
John had gotten a placement with a family, Sara, & Chanelle (1) were the newest foster children.
Manley (African, Sierra Adembu, Prince Ya’Adua) over coffee finally started to reveal to Hailey about himself.

King Amare Ya’Adua (Manley’s father) is somewhere in the US.
What did Hailey go to Tara-Green projects. Apt. # 218C for?
Will Hailey J’Bailey Campbell & Manley fall in love?

Warning: This book is for adults only & contains violent or graphic adult content. It may be offensive to some readers.

I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. Wow, a very well written AA romantic thriller book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great AA romantic thriller movie, or better yet a mini TV series. A very easy rating of 5 stars.

This book tackled a lot of different subjects under the umbrella of clean romantic suspense. It was a good story, predictable at times, but that's not something that keeps me from reading. From domestic abuse to racism to murder to abortion and fostering and more, so many difficult subjects are touched on that I found myself thinking maybe it was too many subjects, that the author should have focused on fewer and gone more in depth, but overall each subject is handled well and the author did a good job of juggling so many topics that, in and of themselves, could have been the sole topic in the story. I found myself cheering for the main character, Hailey, when after so much heartbreak, things turn out beautifully for her.
One note to those looking for a completely clean romance...the final scene in the book stretches the limits of "clean" but it's short and seemed a proper ending to the story.

Well, I really loved this book.
The way the little mini stories kept popping up. I really sometimes go back and find some.
I loved the suspense romance and the hunt. Hailey seemed like a very strong woman and just never gave up
I really couldn't put this book down!
I recommend someone who likes this sort of story and say go for it, you won't regret it
I was given this book in replace for my fair and honest opinon

Colors in the Dark by Groovy Lee has everything one would want in a sweet romance - a pretty girl with plenty of spunk and an interesting history, a gorgeous and mysterious man, some intrigue and adventure, and a happy, fairytale ending. I couldnt help but feel as if the author had put some of her own personal warmth and strength into her main character Hailey, and I especially liked how Hailey's past was not written as something that had held her back or become an issue she had to get over. I also enjoyed the family that Lee created in the story; Big Mama is a fabulously warm and loving character and I could just picture the kind of household that Lee so aptly portrayed. Some editing issues unfortunately cost this one a star, but all in all its an easy, enjoyable and charming read.

This is a romance book. But, inside of the main plot are subplots that bring up hard racial, abortion , abuse and crime issues. The Author, Groovy Lee, handles each issue well and really brings out the problems and, I think, handles them masterfully.

The main characters are developed throughout the book but leaves some mystery to keep the story interesting.

If you like romance with danger, mystery and intrigue, then this book has it all. I am happy to recommend this book to readers of romance and intrigue. You will enjoy it. GREAT JOB MS. LEE. Can't wait for your next book.

Hailey Campbell is looking for love. What she finds is so much more than she bargained for. Groovy Lee sets up a twisting romantic thriller in Colors in the Dark. I really enjoyed Hailey as a character. After meeting and falling in love with Manley, she uncovers a secret that leaves her rushing to save a girl’s life. This is a good pulse-pounder for anyone that loves a little spice to their romance!

This was an interesting novel. It made me think of like a modern day re-telling of Cinderella to be honest. I very much enjoyed the main character, Hailey. She went through a great deal but kept herself up beat and positive. The only problem I had with the book was that the narrative didn't flow smoothly. It felt like there were two different story lines and the first came to a dead stop to allow for the second only to randomly pick up again. Still, an enjoyable way to spend a few hours.

I was gifted with a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. You can see my full review at More Than a Review dot com where I rate the level of sex, violence, language and drug/alcohol use in books.

The first action scene snatches you in fast to this charming romantic thriller set mostly in California, with an excursion to Mississippi. Hailey, the narrator, is sweet and sensible and a loving friend, and you just want everything to go right for her! This causes the reader some considerable stress when Hailey heads off on her own to pick up a vulnerable child from a hostile family – my heart was in my mouth for several chapters. No spoilers, though. Just go along for the ride!
