Any Way You Fight It – Book 3

Sometimes helping other people find love is much easier than finding it for yourself.

Successful realtor, Cherie seems to be the only person she knows not dating and it’s time to get some skin in the game. Cherie had the perfect love once, in Luke, or so she had thought, but that was a long time ago. Now all she needs to do is balance what she wants (a Luke-alike) with the demands of her crazy Italian family (a good, Catholic Italian boy).

Luke is back in town and he and Cherie have some unfinished business. Despite what her Nona’s visions predict they both have history to deal with before they can move on.

Can Cherie and Luke make peace with their pasts and look forward to a new life together? Or will this be the final good-bye?

If you like second chances, well-meaning friends and big crazy families you’ll love Any Way You Fight It.

Very interesting story about second chances - even if it takes 10 years! It was nice to meet the rest of Cherie's Italian family. It was good to see the matchmaker matched up! I like the series - and catching up on the characters from the previous books. I love Cherie's grandmother.

Anyway you Fight It by Monique McDonell is a sweet story that gives background and a future love arc for Cherie, who has been a significant character in the first two novels in the Upper Crust series. I was a bit distracted by the typos but the story was great. I like how Ms. McDonell keeps giving more details on the other characters from her books, as the new principle characters' love story is developed. I liked the characters a lot, especially Nona! Very inspiring to see love blossoming at such an age. I also liked how Cherie's relationship with her mother and father changes and matures throughout the story. I kind of wished we could have gotten some of the story from Luke's point of view. His solution to their dilemma was so quickly related and wrapped up. Plus he seemed like a very interesting person. I loved the "Luke-a-like" bit! :) I'd better stop before I give too much away. I highly recommend this book.

So, I liked Cherie & Luke, and the premise of their 2nd chance at love.

Still some editing issues but not like the last book. Still too much repetition of the characters' angst.

The main characters have serious communication issues - I realize a story needs conflict, but it needs to be believable to work, & Luke's too unusually mute.

The author went a little further than "sweet" romance this time & dipped her toe over into peeping tom porn. If it continues, especially if it worsens, I'm done. It's not particularly considerate of the readers who expect the content in a series at least to be consistent.

*Clean romance level: passionate kisses & several sex scenes with some minor details (on the border between PG13 & R)
*Religion: cultural Catholics (ie follows general forms but spiritually secular), more use of the Lord's Name in vain than previous stories, unfortunately
*Language: minor use of common curse words

This delightful romantic comedy had me laughing out and reading extracts to my husband as they were so hilarious. I loved the dialogue both verbal and internal, and the characters were full of life and exuberance. Luke left town 12 years before at a time when Cherie's family had strict rules about dating non-Italians. However when the only girl in the family finally reaches the ripe old age of 30, Mama realises that she needs to adjust her rules. If only those rules had been relaxed 10 years before, perhaps Cherie could have found her happily every after. When Cherie's beloved Nona starts dating, Cherie realises its time to shake off the dust. Luke makes a surprise reappearance, and Cherie has to decide whether or not to give him a second chance, especially as he is less than forthcoming about his past. This delightful romance has all the markers of a good romance and despite the roiling passion between Cherie and Luke, is surprisingly clean. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

I was given this book to review. A charming contemporary romance. The characters are realistic, hard working people. Second chances in a multi generational family. A lot of love and friendship and a little bit of angst. Love wins out over self doubt. Good read!

Another great read. Love this author and love love this series. Gripping story from the get go. Felt like I was in their world. Loved how the characters from other series still important in this one. I hated putting this book down. It was fun, sexy and relatable. Can't wait for the next book in this series.
