Blood, Brains & Bullets: A Zombie Apocalypse Anthology Kindle Edition

4.0 out of 5 stars 16 ratings

Witness the zombie apocalypse in all its bloody, bullet-laden glory! Inside this tome you will find ten original stories from some of today’s best horror and speculative-fiction writers from around the globe.
Join the likes of twelve-time Sir Julius Vogel Award winner and Bram Stoker Award® nominee Lee Murray, not to mention her fellow Bram Stoker Award® nominee Jake Bible, as they, and a host of other dark minds, take you on a journey through this hellish maelstrom of the macabre.
Viral outbreaks, eco-tastrophes and divine judgement await for any of those foolish enough to brave the pages contained within.
Welcome to the apocalypse, b******!

"Blood, Brains & Bullets is the sort of anthology that is so desperately needed to ensure that the zombie apocalypse genre doesn’t disappear under a deluge of bland and generic titles that fail to engage with the core concepts of the genre. Each of the stories in the collection delivers enough high-quality, blood-soaked action to sate even the most jaded and blood-thirsty zombie fan; but they also provide readers with a series of unique, engaging and original takes on the undead and the social ramifications of corpses coming back to life. This is all thanks to the excellent work by the editors of the anthology, who gathered together a first-rate cast of authors to help breath (un)life back into the genre. Blood, Brains & Bullets is a deeply impressive debut for Screaming Banshee Press, and I eagerly look forward to what they publish next in the Horror genre – I will certainly be watching them closely." - Sci-fi & Fantasy Reviewer

Most of the stories in this are mediocre, with one or two that are pretty enjoyable or unique. Two are just plain dreadful though and it made it hard to enjoy the rest of the book. One story written from the perspective of a dog was both unique and original yet.. Confusing and some-what boring. The first story is written with by a Brit with a political axe to grind who couldn't help but make his feelings about Trump known (seriously, I come to fiction stories to get away from that crap) and his knowledge on firearms is nothing if not down right ignorant. Like seriously, how hard it is it to use google these days?

Lots of Zombie undead action to get your teeth into. There was only 1 story which didn't bang my drum hence the 4 stars. Otherwise 5. Great compilation.
