What would you do if your life was a lie—and everyone knew but you?

Jane has come a long way from the dark days of the horrific car accident that robbed her of many memories. Living the life of a shopgirl with a charming boyfriend—a handsome, green-eyed doctor named Derek—is so satisfying that she doesn’t want to revisit her past.

But the past insists on revisiting Jane. People keep thinking she’s Samantha, a dead girl who looks exactly like her. Now, Jane is determined to discover her connection to the girl, leading her to question everything from her relationship with Derek to her own sanity. Should she believe Rory, the man who insists she actually is Samantha? Or should she depend on Derek, who offers her love and shelter…but who may have other reasons for keeping her under wraps? Who is telling her the truth—and what are the others hiding?

The first question is, what did I just read? It was mind-boggling!

It's hard to write a spoiler-free review of this amazing book, because you just HAVE to experience it on your own. So, here goes nothing!

Our heroine's life changes when she's stopped on the street by a total stranger. She's Jane, he calls her Sarah. She doesn't know him, but he knows her. Or, at least he knows Sarah.

Jane can't stop wondering who Sarah is so, she starts looking her up on the internet, as would any one of us do. What she finds makes her second-guess everything and everyone in her life. Her job, her friends, her perfect fiance.

Now, this was a pretty intense books, that kept ME guessing and second-guessing everything and everyone, just like Jane does. My mind was reeling from everything; I didn't know what or whom to believe anymore. Exactly like Jane. One moment, she believes and trusts Derek, the next, she doesn't. Of course, I kept hoping Derek wasn't the bad guy because you can't help but fall for him. Tara Brown seems to have the gift of make me fall for her anti-heroes. It has happened before.

So, just when you think you know what's going on, what has happened, what caused everything, you get smacked with a dose of what-the-heck. The biggest is towards the end.

If you feel confused or frustrated or it's giving you heart palpitations, don't worry, just keep on reading because the ending WILL make total sense.

5 stars because what can I say, it's brilliant.

This book was a real mind bender. You have to read it all of the way through to even begin to make sense of it and honestly if you could read it all the way through at one time it would be even better. Picking up on small details within the book are worth remembering as well. What I mean by that are things like these weird trigger words that Jane seems to have. It makes certain memories come to her to help reveal certain aspects of the story later on. I got about 2/3 the way through this one and decided I was good and confused. I almost quit reading it, but am glad I didn't because much was revealed in the last 5% of the book.
This novel is about a woman named Jane who seems completely normal until two different people call her Samantha Barnes on the same day. It weirds her out and she starts looking online for answers to who this girl is. Apparently she looks just like her, down to the scar on her chin. This scares her even more and her boyfriend, Derek, who is a doctor, tries to calm her down. Eventually he tells her she was Samantha until he made them disappear. It appears that Jane has some unsavory little practices that she does while sleepwalking on occasion. She feels like a monster once he tells her all of this. But then a guy named Rory shows up and tells her how Derek is lying and has manipulated her so much. He tells her that the doctor she has been with for so long is a killer. He kills people and is dang good at it. While she goes through all this she is also dealing with her childhood memories of her father, things she would as soon forget. But nothing is as it seems in this game of "to catch a killer". Beware! This book will give you whiplash from this chick going back and forth on how evil she thinks her boyfriend might be! And there are adult situations so it's not for children! Happy reading! And good luck through the labyrinth of this girl's sick and twisted mind...

I could have easily given this novel 4 stars just for the writing skills shown by the author but the things that bothered me about the plot, really bothered me; so in spite of all the good things about this read I'm going to stick with 3 - 3.5 stars

It's very difficult to leave a review of this novel without giving away any spoilers so I'll just say that the book is a real page turner full of mistery and turns but many facts do not add up along the story and to make it worse the conlussion/ending made me feel a tiny bit cheated.

I really enjoyed the writing style, the story flows pretty nicely and I couldn't put the book down even if I was constantly distracted from what I was reading by mulling over all the previous things I have read that didn't add up.

I understand that the main goal of the plot is to keep the reader confused by giving lots of confusing facts and leaving loose ties along the way in order to do so, but some of them don't really add up to the plot and seem like they were left there by the author with the only purpose to add to the confussion and (as the story is so fast paced and there are so many twist) counting on the readers to not register the fact that many things are incongruous and gratuitous and there is not an explanation for them; This really bothered me and detracted me big time from my enjoyment of this story.

HO-LEE CRAP! This book is insane! In a fantastic way! This is one of those books that just when you figure it out (notice I said "when" not "when you think..."), you're wrong and it changes direction again! But not in a crazy you can't follow what the heck is going on way. Such a fantastic story! I swear Tara Brown has the most amazing mind and imagination! I couldn't possibly even try to tell what this story is about because of the crazy weird twisty story that has been woven here. But by the end of this story you are in awe of Jane and what she has been through and what she does. And I love Derek....Dash :) I love that this crazy story has an ending that leaves you satisfied and fulfilled, not empty and broken and sad, because throughout the entire book, that's the only ending that could be possible! And also does not leave you hanging but definitely leaves you wanting more, which the amazing Tara Brown has hinted there will be! If you are looking for a pretty love story that has some excitement, this isn't the book for you! If you are looking for a book that will blow your mind, this is it ;)

This is an absolute brilliant read, so well played out & keeps you turning pages. I had to back peddle a chapter or two at the end, as the ultimate twist dawned on me. BLEW. MY. MIND. I wasn't expecting an ending like this and am now on my way to buy the next book. Keep reading right to the end & if you're a thrill seeker, you won't be disappointed. Good bloody job Tara, you've won me :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Intriguing, dark twists - loved it!

Wow, this is one seriously messed up mind f@$k of a book and it totally captivated me. I've listened to the audio book in the car and I can honestly say this week has been the first time in a long time I've been eager to drive to work, so I could find out what was coming next.
There are turns and dark twists and just when you think you know what's what....bam!! Until the end, I had no idea what was truth and what was lies, who could Jane trust when even her own memories are screwed!

Blood and Bones probably isn't an easy beach read, it does require concentration, but for me it was so worth it. It has some very dark moments, but is full of suspense, intrigue, murder, mystery and some hot sex. It's not exactly a romance, but there are some tender loving moments amongst the mayhem. It's warped, well written and the author certainly didn't allow me to predict where it was going, I loved it. So if this is your thing I'd definitely recommend. It can be read as a standalone, but the epilogue does set up book two very nicely. I'm now off to listen to it because I'm sure there are a few more juicy twists to come

Great storyline which twists and turns you can't understand why you like the so called villain , I found the miss spelling of "you" to "ya" quite annoying throughout however the finale is unexpected and refreshingly different .

4.0 out of 5 stars what’s going on here?

This was an interesting kind of cop drama. Agent/amnesiac with two partners, both here lovers. She only remembers one. Serial killer/doctor? murderers/lovers? mission/escaping? It’s crazy town population unknown!
Narrative near the end got a bit confusing. However,if you still haven’t figured out whats going on by then the epilogue spells it out for you.
I was entertained, enjoyed enough of it to happy.
