Coloma, California – 1850

Upon being released from jail on account of his good behavior, Benjamin Pickett is ready to start a brand new life and set up roots in the town of Coloma, California. The former bandit has begun to form a friendship with Franklin, the town sheriff, who warns him that although he is reformed in the eyes of the law, that the townsfolk may still be wary of him.

With Franklin’s help, Benjamin acquires a job at the neighboring lumber mill, and after gaining the trust of his new boss and his fellow workers, he is given a chance to build the home of his dreams. He longs for a wife to share his life with and places an advertisement in the newspaper, and before long, he is sending a ticket for Miss Maybelle Fields to travel from Maryland to join him in Coloma.

Only one problem remains. How can he propose to Maybelle until he has confessed the truth about his past? Will she ever be able to see that he is a changed man, worthy of her trust? Will the reformed bandit ever have a chance at love and happiness, or will his past condemn him to a life of solitude?

***This is the third book of the Brides Of The Coloma Gold Rush series. Each book within the series is a standalone clean mail order bride romance novella and may be read without having read the other stories first.

    This is a book about Benjamin who spent time in jail but turned himself around, It is about the transformations & changes & recommendations from the sheriff & his wife that backed him up & finally convinced the town to accept him as a changed man. Also about a mail order bride that was afraid to accept that he had changed until he proved himself to the town & unto her. It is about forgiveness & change.

    Once again a very splendid story by Charity PHILLIPS I love it so nice to get some of the old characters back in this books I just love it and that again against all odds their is a happy ever after we'll don with this one.     I enjoyed the many varied characters as well as the historical details. I feel the pressure of Benjamin's changed life; pressure to prove that he will be an honest man who deserves a second chance. The town's people are well described in their reaction to a man with a criminal history, will they ever give him a chance? Is there a future for Benjamin? This is a good read.

    this is a lovely book, strongly written with good , honest characters. these feel like real people that we are reading about and the situations are believable all the way through. it reads well, moves along at a good pace and is well proof-read. i received this arc for review concideration. the historical details are lovely and they make the book lively and make the characters come to life.

    A young couple decided to go west when they married, the traveling was rough and not what they had expected finding where others had met their demise due to illnesses. After a while on the way the husband became ill and passed away leaving the wife alone as the wagon Train left them. She tried to go on coming to another wagon where she found another family dead. A man came along and helped her to the next town. A must read for those who enjoy historical western romance kindle books from Amazon at a special price and from a delightful author who keeps me wondering what next for the characters. A collection of stories is included within the book.

    This by far was my favorite book in the Brides of the Columa Gold Rush series. It's a good example of how people can overcome wrongs they have done and make a future for themselves that is honorable. Benjamin had to prove to a lot of the tow people that he could be trusted after being released from jail - and he did - but I think the person he needed to convince most was himself. When he writes to a young lady who answered his ad for a mail order bride his biggest fear when she comes is how to tell her about his past. Rather than tell her in a letter he decided it was better to tell her something like that in person. Good mix of not only clean romance but lessons in life.

    I thought "A Mail Order Bride for Benjamin" was the best book in the "The Coloma Gold Rush" series I've read so far. I enjoyed it from the beginning to the end. Benjamin's determination to turn his life around in the very town that he was known as a criminal showed his true character. Why didn't he just go to another town where he was unknown? The sheriff that arrested him said he would help him. Did he? The mail order bride that he sent for had some soul searching to do when she learned of his back ground. Would she stay? This was a very good story of a courageous man that made me keep cheering for him with each challenge he faced. I received this ARC for review consideration.
