Beverly: The Butcher's Bride: A Clean Historical Western Romance (Stewart House Brides) Kindle Edition
Beverly Nelson is young and smart, with a vision for how things should be at Stewart House, the Western eatery where she works as a waiter-girl. Her sister Carrie is sweet and obedient, but Beverly speaks her mind, which seems to be a bit of a threat for their supervisor, Rita.
When she is told to stop meddling in the boss’ business, Beverly can’t help but spend time with the butcher next door. She has an idea for how things should run and lets the butcher, Mr. Wilfred Maddox, know what she’s thinking.
Instead of being angry with her, he is captivated and thrilled by her ideas. Can Beverly successfully help change things for the better at Stewart House, or will she end up losing her job? All she knows is that a friend like Wilfred Maddox is a valuable thing for her to have… But perhaps Wilfred will see her as something more.
Beverly: The Butcher's Bride is a standalone 20,000 word clean historical Western romance.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 15, 2019Beverly has settled in to her new job at the Stewart House as one of the waiter-girls. Taking over the position her sister Carrie has left for her marriage as that is one of the conditions of working at the Stewart House, that the ladies be unmarried and sign a contract for one year. Beverly has always had a great sense of business and one of the things she notices is that the steaks they serve are frozen! What she doesn't understand is why they don't use the meat from the butcher down the street, almost next door? She finally decides to try one of these fresh steaks, and can't believe how good it is! She strikes up a friendship with Mr. Wilfred Maddox and after awhile tells him of her plan. Rita the head hostess finds out what she is doing and encourages her to let the men make the decision of how they want to proceed. So she decides to leave things alone and let Wilfred and George (Mr. Stewart) work things out. Hardest decision of her life since it's her idea that they are deciding on. When Wilfred finally comes to talk with George she is a nervous wreck. The next morning Rita tells her Mr. Stewart wishes to speak with her so when the breakfast crowd slows down, she knocks on his door. She is very pleased that the two men have come to an agreement, however when he tells her of the second condition she is somewhat shocked! To find out what that second condition is and how Beverly reacts and when Wilfred actually talks to her about it you will need to read this great story by Charity Phillips!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 3, 2018I received this as an arc for an honest review, but loved the story so much I bought the book.. I enjoyed Beverly's forward business thinking for a woman of those times. Her understanding of what was more logical thinking of working together with the town's butcher then getting frozen steaks on the train. It helped The Stewart house restaurant and Mr. Maddox as well.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 9, 2018Can a head strong woman make changes for the better ? A wonderful read that you will be cheering on the main character because she's powerful in her own way. I loved all the other characters because they intertwined wonderfully. The storyline was very interesting till the end.
Unfortunately it says 20 bonus books included my copy did not.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 2, 2018Beverly: The Butcher's Bride
Beverly is Carrie’s sister and she took he spot at the restaurant after Carrie got married.
She notices that the steaks are frozen that the train passengers come to enjoy. Why would they want to eat frozen steaks when they have a butcher right down there street?
Beverly asks Rita and she is told to stay out of it. Not one to give up so easily she goes to see her sister and talk about what is going on.
Wilfred the butcher can’t believe Beverly has come to see him. She doesn’t think he is a brute and wants to help him.
I enjoyed this story and it was nice to see Carrie again. Wilfred is not as bad as people seem to think he is.
It was nice to see Mr Stewart have a heart as well.
The characters are getting better and better and your want to see what happens to them.
I voluntarily read a copy of this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 3, 2018Another really fun new book by Charity Phillips in the Stewart House Brides series. Beverly comes west to take her sister Carrie's place as a waitress at the Stewart House Restaurant which serves the passengers from the trains. She has ideas of how to make changes to how things are done but some do not think she should be so bold as to rock the boat. The restaurant serves steaks brought in frozen on the trains but there is a butcher right on the same street who sells good fresh steaks. It is a very interesting story of how change can be for the best and lead to romance. The book is very good and keeps you involved until the very end. I enjoy Charity's stories because they are so varied. This is another very good story which I highly recommend. I received this ARC book for my honest review.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 18, 2018This was an interesting collection of stories about people finding real love after traveling across this great country. The stories are sure to keep you interested from beginning to end. A must read for those who enjoy historical western romance kindle books from Amazon at a special price and from a delightful author who keeps me wondering what next for the characters.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2018Oftentimes books of this nature portray the woman characters as being rule followers but that isn't the case with Beverly. While at the Stewart House as a waiter she realizes there might be a better way to provide good meals to the patrons of the restaurant and isn't afraid to suggest it to Rita, the person who is training her. She is admonished but doesn't let that get in the way of seeking out Wilfred, the butcher. Her plan to eliminate competition between him and Mr Stewart becomes more than a business plan.
Although I received this ARC for review consideration, it did not in any way affect my review. It's an enjoyable read and I look forward to the next book in the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 4, 2018Can Beverly help the Steward House make changes? Will the owner Ben listen to her?
Why about the butcher? Would he be willing to help, and with what?
So many questions and the best way to have them and more answered is to get this
