Blind Warrior (The Weavers Circle Book 3) Kindle Edition
Grey Ackles
The Soul Weaver feels useless.
A burden endangering his brothers.
The last battle with the pestilents cost Grey his sight and powers.
Now he’s dependent on his vision rehabilitation therapist Cort to learn how to function on a daily basis.
But as he grows closer to Cort, Grey is left wanting his powers back for a new reason—how will he ever know if the man he’s falling for is actually his soul mate?
Cort Newton
There is some really weird stuff going on at that house.
Spell books, guns, and a giraffe in the backyard?
But no matter how strange it gets, Cort is not going to leave the grumpy writer.
Adjusting to sudden blindness is hard for everyone, but Grey clearly has deeper reason for needing his vision back at any cost. Cort just wished Grey would confide in him.
Even with Grey’s secrets, Cort has never been drawn to a man like he is with Grey and he will do anything to keep this man safe.
Blind Warrior is the third book in the Weavers Circle series. It includes fast-paced action, running through Savannah, secrets, shapeshifting, brainwashed assassins, a gorilla, sexy times, fun with water, insecurity, three crazy old ladies, and magic!

About the authors
New York Times Bestselling author Jocelynn Drake loves a good story, whether she is reading it or writing one of her own. Over the years, her stories have allowed her to explore space, talk to dragons, dodge bullets with assassins, hang with vampires, and fall in love again and again.
This former Kentucky girl has moved up, down, and across the U.S. with her husband. Recently, they’ve settled near the Rockies.
When she is not hammering away at her keyboard or curled up with a book, she can be found walking her dog Ace, or playing video games. She loves Bruce Wayne, Ezio Auditore, travel, tattoos, explosions, and fast cars.
She is the author of the urban fantasy series: The Dark Days series and the Asylum Tales. She has recently completed a gay romantic suspense series called The Exit Strategy about two assassins falling in love and trying to create a life together, as well as a MM paranormal romance series featuring a family of vampires.
She has co-authored with Rinda Elliot the following series: Unbreakable Bonds, Ward Security, Pineapple Grove, and the Weavers Circle. She has also co-authored with AJ Sherwood the Scales 'N Spells dragon series. She can be found at JocelynnDrake.com.
I write MM, MF, and MMF romances. Love is love! Some are paranormal, contemporary, and space opera. While all of my books are romantic and sexy, most lean toward erotic. But three of these books-Foretold, Forecast, and Foresworn are MF Young Adult novels. A complete trilogy that I'm rereleasing after getting my rights back from Harlequin Teen. Dweller on the Threshold is sexy, but not erotic. I love unusual stories and credit growing up in a family of curious life-lovers who moved all over the country. Books and movies full of fantasy, science fiction and romance kept us amused, especially in some of the stranger places. For years, I tried to separate my darker side with my humorous and romantic one. I published short fiction, but things really started happening when I gave in and mixed it up. When not lost in fiction, I love making wine, collecting music, gaming and spending time with my husband and two children.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2022I kept book 1 and book 2 of this series in a stack of books, not thinking they'd be very good, continually reading authors I was more familiar with.
When I finally began reading them, I realized that I really liked the story and the characters, and so had to continue with book 3.
All were quite good, the story enticing, the many exciting parts page turning, and many times i found myself unable to stop reading.
The authors are pretty good at creating well rounded characters that often engage the reader.
The descriptions about the romance and relationships were pretty good, although sometimes a bit too much. A reader can only take so many; I love you. I love you too. I love you. I love you too. I mean come on!
And... I'm not sure what it is with a lot of authors, especially female ones... They must think that the only thing all guys care about is sex. True, we tend to think about it often, but it's not like we are obsessed and controlled by it like some female authors seem to depict or think.
I mean, I'm not a prude or anything, and I don't mind reading about the specifics of love making between two characters in the middle of reading about their blossoming relationship and romance. But, too often I have to wade though pages and pages and sometimes chapters and chapters of play by play graphic descriptions of sex act after sex act. Oh My God... If I wanted to read porn I'd buy some other kind of book!!!!
But I digress... There are not too many sex scenes in books 1 to 3 so it didn't actually ruin the story, and most of the time it kind of enhanced reading about a blooming relationship.
I had previously thought that book 3 was the end of the series. But it wasn't until I was halfway through with book 3 that I realized the story could not end as there was too much of the story left to tell. So, I got what I thought was book 4. It however, turned out to be book 5, and I then had to buy book 4 in order to continue the story. And, by the time book 4 came in the mail, I'd already finished book 3 many days previous. So was excited to continue the story.
UNFORTUNATELY... I struggled to read and even complete book 4 of this series.
Like i said before, I'm not a prude. However, I am pretty traditional minded when it comes to sex and relationships. And although I wasn't bothered in the least by the racial mix of the relationships of the main characters. But, I do believe in Monogamy, because, I don't believe any other kind of permanent relationship actually will work.
So, I was bothered by the 3-way poly... whatever... relationship that became the main focus of the story of book 4. I read gay paranormal romance cause it's nice to briefly escape to another reality sometimes, and reading about 2 gay guys falling in love and being happy. I guess in a society that is still not very accepting and often degrading and oppressive against homosexuality, it's a also a nice escape from the reality of living as part of a minority that is still often viewed as repugnant.
Anyway... this 3 way relationship became the main ingredient of the story in this entire book! That, and the MANY chapters of play by play descriptive and graphic sex scenes... ruined this entire book for me.
I mean... how many times can you read chapter after chapter of sex scenes again and agin and again? There were a few exciting scenes in the book, where the story went back to the actual Weavers Circle story... but not enough to make it worth the time i had to spend wallowing through the story of this 3 way relationship and the constant sex scenes. I was extremely disappointed! Book 4 could have been half the size and been a much better story for it.
I haven't read all of book 5 yet, but so far it is very good and promises to be much better than book 4, thank goodness... and is the conclusion of the Weavers Circle story. Although because of how awful book 4 was, I'm not sure I'll read another book by these authors again.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 23, 2020I can honestly say, I was a little weary going in. The last one was good, but not great. However, I really wanted to see what would happen with Grey because yeah, losing his sight was a big deal.
I feel like as a group, they finally started to come together in this book. We get the whole Clay/Grey discussion about the journal, which was so freaking sad. We see them interacting more, being more open about how they feel about each other, Grey especially. I also really enjoyed the relationship build up between Grey and Cort. I thought their personalities were well suited for each other.
What I didn't "like" ? So there were times when the characters are together and talking and laughing so hard, they're bent down or in tears or it takes them a bit to catch their breath. Ummm, I'm guessing it's one of those "you had to be there" moments because I didn't find what they said that funny. I also felt like they're doing stuff in public but it's not ... how do I say this .... there is a scene at the mall, a really big animal (Baer) and they act like it's not a big deal other than something to roll their eyes at. I mean this series has a lot of let's just ignore the fact that security cameras exist moments. Not a big deal, just something that irks me I guess. Still, really good read, looking forward to the next ones.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 29, 2020This is the third book in a fantastic series! I’m a sucker for well written M/M books with supernatural fantasy and action plots and this definitely has met and surpassed what I was expecting in terms of how great this story was. I fell in love with Baer in the second book and wasn’t quite sure how I felt about Grey as a character (I just didn’t know if I would like where his story went when he had his own book), but this book made me love him just as much as the other characters! His story is not a particularly easy one in some parts, and it’s a true credit to the authors that they were able to write about his experiences in such a real and vulnerable way. I LOVED Cort! He is such a sweet character and really brings a new dynamic to the already existing group of characters. The way his and Grey’s relationship unfolded was great in that it wasn’t instalove, but you could tell right away that they had a connection. I’m so excited for the next book in the series!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 30, 2020This series is so great.
I loved Grey from the first book and so glad he got his mate. Grey is super grumpy which makes him such a fun character to read. Grey is a Soul Weaver which means he can manipulate thoughts and read people's thoughts. But, unfortunately, he has had an injury that has made him blind.
So Mr Grumpy is a bit more grumpy and depressed as he cannot use his powers as they are connected to his sight.
He has a Visual Rehabilitation Therapist come to his house to help him with learning to do things on his own. Cort, the VRT, is able to get through to Grey. They get along really well. Then Cort gets pulled into the was between the pestilents and the Weavers Circle.
Cort won't leave Greys side and Grey can't see to protect Cort.
I loved the characters. Their love story was well written.
These books are full of action, love between friends and mates. A whole lot of fun!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 23, 2020I’ve really enjoyed this series and this book was no exception. The found family aspect to these is really heartwarming. Grey has been a really interesting character and his struggles with his vision were really well done here. His person Cort was a sweetie and a really good match for him. I think I gave the book 4 stars because it felt a little lifeless compared to the first couple of books for me. We have two unmatched Weavers left, with another on the way, and I’m interested to see what happens next.

5.0 out of 5 stars Purpose and hope
Excellent book! With the concerns of the last book of Grey's injury and what it meant for the Circle we get to see both Grey and the brothers work to overcome the most recent hurtle in their quest to protect the world and also meet a new Soul Mate.
As Grey is the Soul Weaver and able to see those people that are tied together as mates, it always was a concern how he would approach his mate. After all, both Clay and Baer fell quickly for their mates but their was uncertainty still. If Grey met someone and immediately knew that person was his soul mate it would put undue pressure on him to create that relationship immediately. As Grey's injuries had left him blind it opened up possibilities, even as it blocked his powers and brought new concerns. Without his powers Grey could take the time to get to know his soul mate for the person they were, though it did bring about concern as to whether the two were actually soul mates and what it would mean for the return of Grey's sight of it happened.
There is so much pressure on these men for what they must do. Between the centuries of history and the knowledge that the last incarnation of themselves died so tragically, figuring out their powers and new spells is paramount. With Grey's injury suddenly a power is lost. Grey even wonders for a time of the loss of his powers will be permanent and whether this puts the Circle at a loss that cannot be fixed until his next reincarnation. While Grey feels like a burden, his brothers all feel that this is a challenge they can overcome together.
Cort is an excellent addition to the family. When he and Grey meet there are instant sparks, but Grey is at his worst. Grumpy, angry, and depressed about his lack of ability, Grey doesn't really want Cort's help as a vision specialist. But Cort is caring and empathetic and works his way into the hearts of not only Cost but the entire family as he works to make Grey's new circumstances more normal. Cort is a bridge for Grey to his family but also a safe haven for Grey to retreat to. At the same time Grey is a loving and safe space for Cort, and his family opens up to become Cort's family as well. They fill in each other's spaces so well even in the difficult and trying times.
This was another excellent story in the Weaver universe that brought more love and hope even as things grow more uncertain for the Brothers. There is no new clearer path to victory for the Weavers, but they all have the resolve to protect the world and their new mates to be able to live with each other for a long time. An amazing read I look forward to the next book!

You ladies have yet again come up with another truly fantastic story. Book three of this series was absolutely brilliant. Loved every bit from start to finish. Grey and Cort's story was thoroughly enjoyable to read and can't wait to read book four.
