#Blur: A Hot Male/Male Sports Romance (GearShark Series #4) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 786 ratings

Nothing but a #blur…
There’s a new kid in town, and he’s hell on wheels.
From what we’ve heard, it may be because
he knows exactly what hell’s like.
Lonely.
Scorching.
Unforgiving.
You may know his brother, the NRR hotshot
(and former GearShark cover model)
Lorhaven.
It’s only natural a driver with his background and family connections
has sped his racecar into the newest, hottest division.
But that’s not all.
Arrow may be following in big bro’s tread marks,
but he doesn’t plan to stay there.
He’s swerving onto the road less traveled…
and a lot more controversial.
He’s opening up about his private struggles with sexuality
to tell a story that’s gone unheard until now.
One thing’s for sure; Arrow may have a painful past,
but his foot is heavy on the accelerator.
With speed like this, he’s bound to leave everything behind in
nothing but a #blur.

Review

"Cambria Hebert outdid herself writing #Blur. The characters were raw and strong, loving and I liked that they stand for themselves." - Amazon reviewer

"What I found in #Blur was a book bigger than it's own bindings so to speak. The book had a bigger purpose beyond just a love story; it was a story of forgiveness, family, friendship, loyalty, and everything in between. This book has all the feels; you will cry, laugh, be angry but ultimately you will know why you never regret opening up another Cambria Hebert book." - Amazon reviewer

"#Blur is the fourth book in the GearShark series and I didn't know how it could live up to Trent and Drew but it DID. So what are you waiting for one-click and read this amazing book!!" -Amazon reviewer

"This book broke my heart and then put it back together again." -Amazon reviewer

From the Author

#Blur is book four in the GearShark series. It can be enjoyed as a standalone, but you will get more out of the book if you read the entire series in order, because the main characters in this book are introduced in the previous stories. As always, I would like to thank my readers. I truly appreciate the time you spend reading my work. I hope you enjoy #Blur.

Cambria Hebert is a bestselling novelist of more than fifty titles. She went to college for a bachelor’s degree, couldn’t pick a major, and ended up with a degree in cosmetology. So rest assured her characters will always have good hair.

Besides writing, Cambria loves a pumpkin spice latte, staying up late, sleeping in, and watching K drama until her eyes won’t stay open. She considers math human torture and has an irrational fear of chickens (yes, chickens). You can often find her running on the treadmill (she’d rather be eating a donut), painting her toenails (because she bites her fingernails), or walking her chihuahuas (the real bosses of the house).

Cambria has written in many genres, including new adult, sports romance, male/male romance, sci-fi, thriller, suspense, contemporary romance, and young adult. Many of her titles have been translated into foreign languages and have been the recipients of multiple awards.

This is the story of Jay Hopper aka Hopper, a former bike racer still dealing with the trauma of losing his boyfriend in a bike crash, and Arrow Ambrose, a driver on the cusp of choosing between NASCAR or the NRR or indie racing division but also broken. The story first starts in the past when Arrow was Dylan Lorhaven brother to Jace or Lorhaven and still living at home with his parents. Arrow has always known he was gay but until the day his mother found his gay porn nobody else did. You discover his mom gave him his nickname and she accepted him as gay right away , but she warned him against telling his father who's very narrow-minded. Yet Arrow believes his dad is different so he goes to tell his father and gets sucker punched and told no gay man will be his son so stop being gay, go out with girls, and have girlfriends or no car, trust fund, no college money, and no home. Arrow is stunned and shocked but tries to conform or just fly under the radar until he turns eight, but Arrow finds it impossible. On his eighteenth birthday, his dad takes him to a strip joint and pays some girl to have sex with Arrow. He tries to get out of it, but discovers his dad will be watching on camera to see if he'll do it. Arrow can't handle trying to be someone he isn't anymore and leaves but not before his dad causes lasting damage to his self-esteem. On his way to find his brother to see he he'll help and accept him, Arrow runs into what he was told were friends of his brother, but they turn out to be rivals and what they did to Arrow is heartbreaking. Then the story moves to Hopper's past and we learn he was on the verge of breaking off into the international motorcycle racing division and dating Matt. On the day he wins the last spot on the international team when a rival challenges him to street bike race where winner takes all because the rival believes it was a lucky win. The day of the race comes and as Hopper is getting ready for the race, he gets his head hit accidentally when the door flies open. Seeing that Hopper is having troubles with dizziness and worried about him, Matt offers to take his place in the race and since they are similar nobody will know the difference. Sitting in the trailer watching what's going on with the race, Hopper notices that the rival has someone that is coming up behind Matt trying to fix the race or push the guy he thinks is Hopper off the side of the road. In desperation for the life of the man he loves, Hopper jumps on a motorcycle trying desperately to warn Matt only to watch helplessly as Matt goes over the cliff. The next thing he knows is he's in the hospital and Matt is dead. Fast forward to the present, Ron Gamble tells Hopper to take two different contracts to Arrow for him to sign choosing either NASCAR or indie racing and he has a week to get a signature on one of the contracts. For the last five years, Hopper has been battling insomnia, depression, and survival's guilt, but ever since he's seen Arrow hanging around the racetrack he's been intrigued by him but leery of letting anybody close. Since Arrow was kicked out and disowned by his father, he's been dealing with the trauma of what's happened to him and he hasn't had much in terms of friends or affection from anyone other than his brother. But everything started changing after he first met Drew and Trent then Joey, his brother's girlfriend, now he's been slowly coming out of his shell but still very wary of people's intention. On a snowy night while Arrow is working on his car at home, Hopper shows up to talk to him about the contracts, but Hopper is appalled and furious that Arrow lives in an airport hangar. Arrow has seen Hopper around the tracks, but has not had any experience really with dating since that night. The chemistry is off the charts between them, but each has been broken by the events of their respective pasts and leery of each other. Yet Hopper's fury over his living conditions and the fact that they each recognizes that they are both broken which starts a common ground between them and they both realize that it can only be all or nothing between them. Hopper is stunned that Arrow is accepting of him and sees through to his brokenness and accepts who he is. Arrow is stunned by the care and willingness to both go slow and shows him affection. The story of Hopper and Arrow is one fraught with emotional, physical, and the psychological turmoil that each must go through to be happy with each other and themselves. You will cry at parts and its completely heartbreaking at times the struggle they each go through yet through it all you will be impressed with their strength and fortitude. I hardly ever read gay books but the Gearshark series has the best ones I've ever read and they all truly show triumph and trauma especially #Junkie, #Rev, and #Blur. These three stories show just a portion of what gays go through both in their pasts, present and will still deal with in the future. Excellent series!!!

4.5 stars — I will start off by saying that this book should contain a HUGE trigger warning. I don’t have triggers, but I really don’t get why more authors aren’t putting them on books. You can be vague, you can just say trigger warning and not explain what kind, but give people who have triggers at least a mini head’s up.

This book broke me, particularly the past sections. I was trying so hard to contain my bawling in bed because my hubby was sleeping, but even though I wasn’t making any noise, I was shaking so hard he woke up anyways. And didn’t even comfort me, the bastard. So yeah, be prepared for a bit of an emotional rollercoaster in parts.

I’ve been fascinated by both Arrow and Hopper from previous books. And their book was both really fulfilling and left me wanting a bit more at the same time. We’ll see how I feel after #FinishLine, but this book was a strange dichotomy. It’s why I’ll end up rounding down, even though I had mega feels while reading it.

I loved both characters. I felt like we really got to delve into what their shattered souls were like, and I loved seeing them develop strength both on their own, and derive it from each other. I really loved them together. There were so many lines that just got to my heart, I loved how they recognized the brokenness in each other, but weren’t put off by it…rather they were drawn to each other almost because of it.

I freaking stood up and cheered with Arrow’s confrontation with his father at the end. That was ridiculously satisfying.

There were so many scenes that just pulled me in and grabbed hold of me. I loved the way they loved each other, how they both resisted, were unsure, were afraid, but the connection was powerful enough to keep drawing them back. I even enjoyed that they had stumbling blocks, but that they overcame them. And I really felt their chemistry, I especially enjoyed their first explorations of each other.

I will admit that there were things that didn’t quite work for me. I thought the stuff Arrow dealt with from his father at the beginning was a bit over the top. I was disappointed that we didn’t really get any resolution on the aftermath of Arrow’s past (I really thought we’d find out more details on what happened when Lorhaven found him, and what happened to the guys). And similarly I was disappointed that we got NO resolution from Hopper’s past. What happened to those two guys? What happened to Arrow’s mother? She just kind of fell off the radar, that seemed odd. And while I loved the connection between Arrow and Hopper, it felt a bit rushed at the beginning… And quite frankly, I thought the development of their physical relationship moved too fast to be believable with Arrow…I wouldn’t have minded something more there. It seemed like a missed opportunity. I know people heal in different ways, but…

So yeah. Those are some mega missed opportunities, but I guess that goes to show how much I loved the parts that I loved. They overshadowed those things that on a different book would have brought my rating down much farther. Super curious to see what we get from the final book…

I've read all the hashtag and gearshark books, but this one is just wow. The beginning is heart-wrenching, but when you see how the characters develop, how they become what they want to be, how they face life. It's an emotional book (you may shed a tear or two), it's so lovely. If you've read anything from this author you must read this one, and if you haven't, well, read it anyway.

    4.5 Infinity Stars!

“How in the hell could you have given me your heart?” I wondered aloud. “Because you’re the one who taught it to beat again.”

#Blur is the final book in the GearShark Series and Arrow and Hopper's story.

This story should come with trigger warnings...on page rape, hate crime beating, sexual abuse.

This was a very emotional read - especially the first 30% of the story.
It was wonderful to see the journey of two men who were both so broken and battered, find each other and fight for their love.

"He fit inside my hold perfectly. He filled in all the hollow places so even though it was me who surrounded him, he made me feel full."

#Blur contains everything that we've come to expect from Ms. Hebert: solid writing, a fast paced story with enough twists to keep things interesting, hot sexy times and lots of emotions.
I really enjoyed Arrow and Hopper's story.
    Highly recommend the series.

Cambria is one of the most amazing author's with an amazing talent. You find yourself engrossed in her work from beginning to end.
I have read all of Cambria s work and I fell in love with the hashtag series and gearshark was know different.
This is the story of Arrow and Hopper and the journey to HEA. We first meet Arrow early on in the series and I always wondered what his story was and now we have the chance to find out about him.
This is amazing story that i honestly couldn't put down and I found myself engrossed within the story and let me just say it sets your emotions going.
If you have never read one of Cambria's books then you are missing out.

    whoa! Where to start.....
This book had everything we have come to expect from the #hashtag and Gearshark series.
this one went up another notch, it was by far the most emotional and possibly confrontational book in the series to date.
i laughed, cried, wanted to throw my kindle in anger towards Arrow's so called father and swooned with the intense love between Arrow and Hopper.
Arrow was adorable and i just wanna cuddle him up and protect him from the world. Hopper surprised me, I'm glad he fought his past to see how perfect he was for Arrow. To show Arrow that he was enough and that his love was without conditions.
This was a beautiful love story, these two amazing but broken souls could find a love so fierce that could break through their own baggage was perfect.
Once again Cambria has knocked it out of the park.
