Editorial Reviews
Review
"I realised that the main characters were graduating high school and I was worried, they would be immature, but they prove themselves over and over as sweet, intelligent and mature beyond their years. I adore friends to lovers and don't often see it done this well, but my favourite part was definitely the end, that really got me in the feels." -- Sara, Five Star Goodreads Review
"Captivating ... enthralling and heartwarming." -- MiDouradoP 4.5 Star Goodreads Review
"my god, that first kiss was perfection!!" -- Katy, Five Star Goodreads Review
"Leslie McAdam has created an absolute treasure of a book. I loved everything about it from Audrey's auburn curls to Tate's brothers advice on sex." -- Karen, Four Star Goodreads Review

- Reviewed in the United States on February 3, 2021Audrey was cautious about taking a chance that could destroy one of the best relationships she has in her life however Tate shows her by word and deed that some risks are worth the reward.
Over time Tate’s feelings for Audrey have turned into love and he wants them to be a couple rather than just friends. He is the perfect mix of sweet and sexy as he shows her that together they can overcome anything.
This is a heartwarming story about life, love and family that is sure to touch your heart.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 3, 2021This was one of the best new adult books I've read.
It's hard to capture thoughts and feelings of late teens, without making them seem older than they are. The thoughts and feelings rang true here...and that feeling, when you're leaving high school, that a year is eternity. That things can derail in an instant. That the future you didn't envision is no future at all.
Tate & Audrey are lovely. Go forth and read this!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 8, 2021It made me want more. Of him. Of his lips. Of our dreams. Of everything.
This was a very quick sweet read about two best friends who are both in love with each other but can't get the nerve to voice it. Until one day as Tate is leaving Audrey’s place and he leans in and gives her the sweetest kiss. Thus their romance begins and they dream of seeing the world together until Audrey’s family gets some news that may see all her plans fly out the window. Will they figure out how to stay together or are they doomed before they even took off?
This really was a sweet read and I did enjoy it but I wished it was longer and that everything didn't end up being so easy. Overall a lovely read.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 4, 2021I really enjoyed Boy on a Train by Leslie McAdam. The story follows Audrey & Tate with their first love. They have been friends but then their feelings start to turn into more. I love how caring Tate is towards Audrey. Audrey has so much going on with her home life that changes everything too. Plus Tate is getting ready to leave soon too. I really enjoyed this story. Great Job Leslie McAdam on another story!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2021This was a sweet and funny coming of age story. Tate and Audrey are so cute. These two have been friends for years and they have both been secretly in love with each other. With graduation coming up Tate decides to make him move. I listened to the audio and I really enjoyed the narrators tell the story. Tate is makes such a great boyfriend as he goes to great lengths to find out how to pleasure his girl and the interaction between him and his brothers when he asks them for advice is funny. Loved this story.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 3, 20215 ridiculously adorable STARS, plus MORE!
If I could go back in time, I’d have Tate give my first boyfriend a few pointers! *swoon*
I don’t read a whole lot of coming of age books so I’m no expert, but this story, this story felt a lot more grown than what I would expect from this age and it was glorious. I swooned people! This story is one you don’t want to miss. #trust
- Reviewed in the United States on May 11, 2021I absolutely loved the slow burn between Tate and Audrey! It reminded me so much of my own first love at that age - sweet and nerve-wracking and deliciously anticipatory. Leslie McAdam did an excellent job of writing from the perspective of their age bracket.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet & Sexy Coming of Age Story
My first Leslie McAdam book won't be my last! Such a fun and touching love story with memorable characters. I loved Tate and Audrey! Couldn't put it down.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet story about young love
I was thrilled to read a new book by Leslie McAdam and this one was just beautiful. I enjoyed Audrey and Tate's realisation that they were in love ... but overall reading this story reminded me why NA (New Adult) is not really my jam anymore. I love it when characters get a HEA but I always feel that unless you get an epilogue set in the far future, NA couples can only ever be HFN (Happy For Now). This is nothing against this story in particular, just a whinge in general.
Boy on a Train is a sweet story about first love and what it all means.
