Break Down (Dublin Rugby Book 4) Kindle Edition
I left behind everything I loved to keep my secret safe.
I’ve been a starter for Dublin Rugby since I was twenty. It’s all I’ve ever known.
But after a close call with a secret I’ve spent my whole life hiding, I’m forced to leave the club I love, traded to one of our biggest rivals.
Edinburgh wasn’t the plan. It wasn’t even my choice. But it’s where I’ll play out my final season, whether I like it or not.
I told myself I’d keep my head down, finish strong, and pretend that was enough.
Then I walked into a quiet little restaurant and met Chef Lachlan MacLeod. He’s everything I shouldn’t want—tattooed, stunning, and worst of all, out. The kind of man I swore I wouldn’t go near again.
But I keep going back. First for the food. Then for the friendship.
Until one taste brings me to my knees. Until loving him stops feeling dangerous and starts feeling inevitable.
I want him more than I’ve ever wanted anything. But wanting isn’t enough if I don’t have the courage to tell the world he’s mine.
There’s nothing safe about loving a lie.
I’ve fought like hell to build a life I’m proud of—one where I own who I am and don’t make excuses for my past. For the addictions, the chaos, or the men who broke my heart.
My only rule? I don’t go near closeted guys anymore. Especially not the ones who play it straight in public but beg me to take them apart in private.
But then Liam Donnelly walks into my restaurant—all bruised pride, killer smile, and eyes that won’t stop watching me.
He’s everything I shouldn’t want: guarded, complicated, and deeply closeted. But underneath all that, there’s something real. Raw. Aching.
I try to be his friend. To keep my distance. But when he finally gives in to what’s been burning between us, I fall harder than I ever meant to.
I want to build a life with him, but if he can’t love me out loud, I won’t let him love me at all.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2018Liam always wondered what being with another man would be like. One night he took a chance and got blackmailed for it. His rugby career stalled because of an injury he's not sure what's next for him. A chance to play for another team in another country seems to be the answer to his problem. A start over and a way to leave his blackmailer behind.
Lachlan, chef and owner of a very in demand restaurant, is out and proud of his life. The night Liam walks in and sets down at his bar, his life changes forever.
They both know right away that each wants the other. But Liam won't admit he might be bi and Lachlan has vowed to never get involved with a closeted man again. Can they make it work?
This story is smoking hot, these guys are perfect together. Chemistry between the characters is excellent. The good writing make this a must read. There are 3 prior books in the series but this can be read as a standalone.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 23, 2018I am a big fan of the Dublin Rugby series, and Breakdown was no exception! It has drama, action, and lots of heat. The book and series handle sensitive issues with tact and honesty.
Liam is strong, tough, a natural leader...everything that you would expect of a professional athlete. Lachlan is patient, steadfast, and mentally tough. They don’t seem to be an obvious match at first, but their chemistry is undeniable. The scenes between them are smoking hot. I loved them both, although I wanted to smack some sense into Liam more than once.
The plot was steady and kept me spellbound. I wasn’t ready for Liam and Lachlan’s story to end! I really hope to see more of them in this series.
This was my third book in the Dublin Rugby series. (It seems I missed book three, which I will be reading next.) Breakdown could easily be read as a standalone, and is the hottest yet in the series in my opinion. I highly recommend reading the entire series, though, because you will not want to miss out on the other players’ backgrounds.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 27, 2018Finally a m/f series that branched into a m/m story that I really liked. This felt like the author wasn't just here for the view, but was sold on the property and was here to build. I haven't read the other books, but I've got to admit, the little bit of backstory we got was intriguing and out of all the m/f to m/m authors I've read lately, this one comes the closest to making want to read the other books.
Like most m/m sports themed romances this was heavy on the coming out quandary and of course, heavy on the sex.
I liked Lachlan, he had an interesting past but was stable enough to go into a relationship with a healthy outlook.
I liked Liam, he had his issues but he recognized quickly when his knee-jerk reactions hurt Lachlan and acted like a mature grown up and apologized and made actual changes to correct his behavior.
I liked Angus. More Angus. Please, more Angus in a kilt.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 6, 2018When Liam Donnelly had a new chance on a new team he never expected Lachlan Macleod. As much as they fight it they can't fight the pull they have for each other but what happens when love isn't enough? Will they fight for each other or allow their love to break down? Good story and I was so close to giving it four stars but it just didn't feel quite enough for me. Although it is a good story with hot characters. I give this book 3.5 Stars.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2018"Lets just say you still heard jokes in the locker room sometimes. Hell, I'd laughed at a few of them over the years myself. But now? Well, things had changed. I'd changed"
When your unsure of who you are as a person; how can you ever truly live your best life? This is Liam's and Lachlan's story.
This one gets you in literally all the feels; you cannot help but fall in love with Liam and his vulnerability as he finds his way. "Yes, I'm bi, that became my truth". As Liam goes on his journey of self discovery, falling in love & coming out; Lachlan is on his own journey as well. While Liam is experiencing everything for the first time, Lachlan is forced to really look in the mirror and acknowledge what he will and won't accept for himself and in his relationships. Can these two find their way to a happily ever after? Or will their love stay in the closet?
Breakdown was everything and more; all of Rebecca Norinne's words are so beautifully and tastefully written you will not be disappointed with this book. This was my first MM Romance so I wasn't so sure of what to expect but I can honestly say that I truly loved this story; Liam & Lachlan's story. It was amazing! Rebecca Norinne popped this book genre cherry for me and I was not disappointed and you won't be either! Do yourself a favor and read this book! I promise you'll love it.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 2, 2018I connect most to characters when they are the most vulnerable. Until you see someone -- fiction or real -- struggle with real pain, you don't really know them. This is something I love about Rebecca Norinne's writing: she never gives her characters an easy out. Liam, on the surface, seemed like he had everything going his way, but when you can't admit to yourself or to anyone else who you truly are, you can't ever be free. He lives in such a macho world that it's hard to see how he'd ever feel free to be himself and still have his career that he loves.
He and Lachlan were like a pile of tinder with their physical chemistry, but it's their emotional journey that drives the story and makes you root for them. There are times when it felt like it couldn't work; how could it work with Liam is still struggling in the closet and Lachlan never wanting to go back to being with men who were closeted? You feel Liam's struggle, but you see how far Lachlan has come, and you never want him to go back to those darker times.
When they get to their HEA, it feels truly earned because they went through so much hell for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 stars - Liam’s heart is in the red-zone!
Break Down is Book 4 in the Dublin Rugby series by new-to-me author, Rebecca Norinne. Say whaaa? *nods head* Yes, I am capable of reading a series out of order when they can be read as a standalone. Let’s not dwell on this too much, or my OCDs will kick in, and I’ll start twitching. Oi! *wags finger* No laughing #thestruggleisreal
Anyhoo, I digress... back to more important matters, THIS BOOK (squee!).
Liam Donnelly’s life has gone to hell in a hand basket. I can’t even begin to imagine the strain someone must be under trying to deny a fundamental part of themselves. If we can’t be true to ourselves, how can we expect to be with others? *shrugs*
Transferring from Dublin to Edinburgh may not have been in his plans, but maybe a fresh start is just what Liam needs. At least he’s still playing his beloved rugby. His desires will just have to take a backseat. After all, he still likes women. Exploring his attraction to men will just have to wait until he no longer plays professionally. Yeah *shakes head*, like that’s gonna work! *palms face* Once that box has been opened, it’s not so easy to shut the lid...
Out and proud (plus smoking hot!) Scottish (whoop!) chef, Lachlan MacLeod has battled and defeated his own demons. His restaurant a roaring success, and happy in his own skin. He knows what he wants, and what he doesn’t. He won’t hide for anyone, but his immediate attraction to Liam is a complication he couldn’t have foreseen. With Lachlan’s heart on the line, he must decide if the passions Liam ignites is worth the cost to his soul.
Wow! I vacillated between wanting to go ‘tonto’ at Liam, and in the next breath, wanting to hug the crap out of him as he wages war with himself. I will say this; it is my most fervent wish that during my lifetime who we love has no impact personally or professionally on our lives.
This is no sweet romance, it is raw and gritty, but Liam and Lachlan’s connection speaks for itself. I’m slightly *pinches fingers* in love. Again?! I hear you cry, lol.
One teeny tiny thing that irked me, more a footnote really, because I bet you stopped reading ages ago *winks*. But, not enough to change my rating, was the intermittent use of American words when the story is set in Scotland. OK, sorry, *puts hands up* you are still reading. Please don’t shout at me, I just had to tell you...
So, can someone tell me if Aidan is up next? Hello? Someone, anyone... see? I knew you’d stopped reading - harrumph. OK, shutting up now.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ruck Me. Maul Me. Make Me Scrum
An Irishman and a Scotsman meet in a restaurant.
No, there is no punchline, I just want to be sitting between them listening to them talk. Sigh, those accents .
From the minute we meet him, you can't help but fall for the adorable Liam Donnelly. He is unsure of so many things in his life. Changes in his career, he is unsure of himself - who he is, what he wants. He is stumbling his way through life at the moment.
Enter Lachlan and oh my! This is the start of Liam's bisexual awakening, and we are taken on his journey of attraction, lust, confusion and hopefully, love.
It is not all easy for Lachlan either. He has his own crosses to bear when it comes to Liam, and I for one was glad that he does not let himself become a doormat. He sticks up for what he wants ,no matter what.
Break Down is a beautiful, heartwarming story, and definitely my favourite in this series so far.
Can't wait to see what Ms Norinne brings us next.
