- Reviewed in the United States on November 19, 2024I read a lot of books in the romance and fantasy genres and this is a particularly great series. The main characters sparkle and have a hot romance going on but the world they inhabit is intricate and interesting with side characters that you care about as well. Definitely worth a read..
- Reviewed in the United States on May 26, 2022I love this story overall. Fated love, fantasy & magic—All of it is my jam. I think the characters are lots of fun and I’m even enjoying the backstory and side stories. I don’t find that I’m obsessed—sometimes the royal political stuff bores me—but in the end, I still think this series is an amazing read. In this particular read, I found Tori to be super adorable so it was fun to watch him get his happy ending.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 6, 2024Tori comes from a mage clan who have suppressed their magic and live very minimal lives, not trusting dragons because of what he's been taught. He's looking to escape and when he gets help from Baldwin, a dragon, and realizes he's nothing like he's been told, he slowly starts to trust in the dragon. It's a good read with amazing character development, a great continuation of the series, and a loving HEA.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 21, 2021This is a m/m shifter/mage romance (without mpreg). I am so glad I took a chance on this author and series! The covers are kind of gothicly boring, but the words written within are such a fantastic read. This is the second book in a series and really should be read in order to get the context.
It’s been 500 years since the Dragon/Mage War, dragons mourn the loss of mages and their possible perfectly fated mate! Tori has escaped his community, a mage on the run just looking for a day job when he is found. So many adventures commence, woven within suspense and a bit of sweet romance but wowza what a fantastic last few chapters! I’m on to the next part in the series: a novella. What happens next; I have to know! Who needs sleep with such stories to be had?!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 22, 2023This book was really sweet and the couple absolutely adorable. I liked how it showed dealing with misinformation and a belief system based on lies. Baldwin's patience was also fantastic.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2025A mage escapes his oppressive commune, only to get caught up in a seeking spell. Fortunately for him, it was the good mages.
Some wooing, some danger from mage-hunters (and a bit more revelation about motives of said hunters) some facing one’s past, some other mages manage to escape the cold isolation.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 30, 2023Tori is such a beautiful broken soul who deserves so much more than what has been shown to him. Enter Baldewin and rest of the Buchard clan of Dragons 🐉 and he finally had a chance of happiness if he can just give it a chance. Beautiful story looking forward to more from this world

Awwww. Tori and Baldewin were so damn adorable. Their banter and romance was sweet to the core and I adored reading this story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!! Even better than book 1... WOW!
This book 2 on the series is so good, even better than book 1! Now the authors presented us new amazing characters and we learned more about some of the old ones. Between those new characters I think my new favorite in all the series is Tori, he is strong but his big heart made him also sweet and kind. I loved how he was willing to sacrifice everything for friendship and love. The chemistry between him and Baldwin is just perfect! Of course, when you add the captivating plot of the continuing series I cannot less than predict that this series will become, if it is not already, one of the best in MM romance.

El segundo libro de la saga me sigue gustando. La historia no ha decaído y me parece muy entretenida. Espero con ansia la siguiente entrega y saber qué parejas se van formando.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant
Another great book in this series, with more Dragons and mages and more danger. This was full of sweetness and laughter, danger and magical heroics.
I am really loving this series and can’t wait to see what’s next for our Fire Dragons okay and I’m even hoping we get some Ice Dragon tales

5.0 out of 5 stars The safety of a cage
The dragons world continues to grow as they meet Tori and find out more about what has happened to all of the mages!
Tori has actually grown and lived knowing that he is a mage and that magic still happens in the world. His clan has hidden away for centuries to keep themselves safe from the dragons as their clan was allies of the Jaeggi and believes the dragons began slaughtering mages without reason. In this small and insular community mages are not celebrated but are instead becoming bitter and stuck and have created an oppressive and abusive culture. Being male and gay Tori has lived a beaten down life so he runs away to try to make it on his own in the world. Unbeknownst to him, being away from his club's protection not only brings him to the dragons view but also to that of the Jaeggi. Tori soon finds himself thrown into the wider magical world with Baldewin at his side and learns that many of his clans teaches are the furthest things from the truth.
This was a sweet and slow build of a romance for completely different reasons than the first book. While Tori knows he is a mage and knows there are dragons, it is what he has been taught about magic and dragons that has him hung up. His entire life Tori has been told that only female mages are powerful and worthwhile. As a male mage his main purpose is to birth more mages with a female mage, so being gay makes him almost useless. His clan and even his own parents have treated him as at best a disappointing grunt worker who is more of a drain on resources as than anything. Baldewin and the dragons are of course horrified to find this out, but it is not something that can be quickly changed. Baldewin has to take the time to warm Tori's trust, first in that dragons will not harm him, and then in that being a male mage does not make him a failure from birth. It is a lot to relearn for a person but Baldewin does his best to ensure that Tori knows his true worth every moment they are together.
There is plenty more about the Jaeggi and what is going on which them in this book as well. Not only do the Jaeggi find Tori, but having once been an allied clan doesn't keep him safe from their clutches. It becomes clear that something further is wrong with the Jaeggi and Tori becomes integral to the clan learning what is going on, as well as bringing in new magical knowledge to the Burkhard clan. Taking mages isn't just a retaliation against the dragons and it becomes more and more evident that the Jaeggi are not going to stop what they are doing and if they aren't stopped may again threaten the entire world.
This book brings about new characters as well as plenty of information to expand this world of the dragons and mages. Unlike some urban fantasy books it is also bringing up the issue of magic in a world that thinks magic is gone. While this world remembers magic and dragons they have not been seen for centuries. Regardless, as the clans find mages and expand they are ending up more in the public eye and things are starting to be noticed. At some point the dragons will have to reintroduce themselves to the wider world and consider what that will mean for their small but slowly growing clan.
A fantastic book it is well worth the read and promises much more in the series to come!
