Joan Reeves, Writing Happily Ever After—Time After Time, is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of Romance. Regardless of the sub-genre, all of her novels have the same underlying premise: "It's never too late to live happily ever after. Her novels have been published in half a dozen languages, and her books are available in audio, ebook, and print.
NOTE: Since Joan has been writing for several years and had print books published with many publishers—American and foreign—be sure you choose a print book with a copyright date after 2011 because Amazon shows all of her old print books here. (Authors have no control over this.) The new print editions have been expanded and show new cover art.
When not writing romance—or nonfiction to share what she has learned in life—Joan divides her time between the hustle and bustle of Houston and a house in the Texas Hill Country where she and her hero, her husband, sit on the porch at night, look at the star-studded sky, and listen to the coyotes howl.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 2, 2019I enjoyed reading Joan Reeves book, Brianna's Season for Miracles. It was a beautiful holiday story of a woman who overcame a difficult reading disorder and made changes in her life to make it better. She returns home to try and make amends with her father, and meets a man who changes her life even more. A beautiful story of acceptance and love.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2018If you love, Love Actually, you’re going to love this anthology just as much. Released in time to set the mood for the holidays ahead, Love, Christmas (Book 2) gives you
that much-needed feel good rush. So far, I’ve only read one story, penned by Joan Reeves. The title of her holiday treat is, Brianna’s Season for Miracles.
So, the review I post
will cover this warm, winter tale, only.
When the beautiful and cultured, Brianna Walker returns to her West Texas home town, she does so with much trepidation. Who she was and who she’s become find a difficult
time finding their balance as she deals with past concepts of herself. She finds herself staring dead-on at the persona of her childhood, of her current self, and into the clear sighted
eyes of Daniel Kelly. She’s no stranger to the stares of men, but Daniel seems to see her more clearly than most, his gaze touching more than the passion inside her, moving past that to her inner self.
In this story, Reeves gives us insight to the far-reaching impact of pain inflicted on those who are young and carry the scars forward into adulthood. The inner child syndrome plays long
and hard in this story, adding depth to the tale, giving it grist along with the welcome dose of things finally coming right.
This tale will probably hit a chord with most of us. Parent’s play lasting roles in our lives, whether they’re still living or passed. So do long-standing childhood wounds. And coming home
for Christmas can be one of the most painful, as well as joyous feelings, we’ll ever experience. In this tale, you’ll experience them all. But, I can guarantee, at the end, you’ll be glad you
came to West Texas with Brianna, because after all, Christmas is the time of miracles, and all of our inner child’s, along with the adults we’ve become, love Christmas So, cuddle up with
some hot cocoa, a snuggly blanket and enjoy this delightful trip to West Texas.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 19, 2019Or is he going to double-cross her when they get married and commit her to an insane asylum since her father thinks she's dumber than a box of rocks? Daniel's secret should've been revealed to the reader before it was revealed to Brianna. As it is I don't know if he's honest or a schemer. Did he take her father's money at the end? Her father to the very end still thought Brianna was an idiot so where did the love and pride come from? Daniel obviously didn't tell him anything that he supposedly knew. I doubt his love for Brianna because the story was too short and there wasn't enough conversation between him and her father to believe he was honest. As it seems it's hard to tell where he stands. Especially since her father knew about the engagement before she did and just 5 seconds before (at the end of the book) he still believed his daughter was an idiot and couldn't read. So did he want Daniel as a son-in-law so he could make his "idiot of a daughter" committed so she wouldn't be around him to shame him anymore? The emotional blackmail Daniel used with Brianna to accept her father's verbal abuse about her was wrong and again adds to my suspicion he doesn't have honest thoughts about Brianna.
He wanted money for his grant and I feel he would use Brianna to get that money from her father. His "the money doesn't matter" was never put to test. The author never once told us the outcome. Daniel only cared about sex. Even at the end when she was still confused with his deception his answer was to have sex with her. He refused to give her time to process his deception and just accept that he "loves" her. Well I don't. He was too much of a schemer and there was too much sex that had no emotions and no love. He used her on so many levels and his double-crossing with her father who never believed she was worth anything doesn't put him in a big light. He kept using emotional blackmail to make her accept her father's verbal abuse but he never once championed for her with her father. If he did then her father wouldn't have thought she was so stupid at the very end of the book.
I'm sorry but I don't believe in this love simply because of the erotic sex in the book. His deception and his real motives should've been revealed to the reader before Brianna knew about it so we could forgive him and understand that his "fight" for her was more about sex and getting her daddy's money no matter what he had to do to get it.
Brianna so desperately wanted someone, anyone, to love her that she blindly is accepting Daniel. Well sorry I don't. He was too deceptive, lying and used sex at every turn for me to believe in his honesty. Sure his "fight" for her was nice but it was all words without action to back it up. And I don't mean sex which the author used at the end.
It also would've helped believe Daniel's motives if her father actually came around and showed a beating heart existed at all throughout the book. As it was he had a heart of ice to the very end. With the fact her father never changed his feelings about Brianna and that Daniel never had to back his words with action about not taking the grant if it meant keeping Brianna I still have a sinking feeling that he and her father will commit her to an institution once they sign the marriage certificate. Since as her husband he would have the power to do whatever her father wanted him to do at the end. As long as the money was dangling for his grant in his face I fear he would do it.
The author did a big disservice with this book. It was too short, and not played out very well, and at least 5 chapters too short for the purpose of the book. Since I was supposed to root for Daniel the author did an awful job on making me do so at the end.
Also Dyslexia is not a disease that deserved the hatred Brianna's father displayed on her. And his complete stupidity all the way to the end on how he never thought she was worth anything showed he was the idiot and that Brianna was smarter than him on so many levels. She fought for herself and she overcame her disability and her father never once grew and remained a heartless rich man that cared more about his reputation then he ever did about his own daughter.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2018Brianna’s Season For Miracles. It’s a charming, inspiring story.
Brianna Walker is a beautiful, intelligent woman whose confidence has been crushed by a childhood stigma. She was let down, not only by the system but her wealthy parents as well, and she spent her youth living down to everyone else’s expectations. She’s managed to turn her life around, but the past comes calling. It’s the holidays, and her widower father wants her to come to the family ranch in West Texas. Her return home after years of estrangement is not what she expected, however. Things have changed, and the addition of sexy house guest Daniel Kelly is disconcerting if intriguing. Daniel is a published author, there ostensibly to do research and write. Yet his presence is not all it seems.
As I was reading two things struck me. Small town West Texas is an iconic Christmas setting, a bit like stepping into another more tranquil, pastoral time. Snow drifts and horse drawn sleighs and hot chocolate chip cookies from the oven. My favorites. The other was−at least for me−the theme of the story, the all-too-common angst that exists in families and how it’s highlighted during the holidays. Who hasn’t had to deal with that? The romance is front and center, of course, but there’s healing going on, forgiveness. I Love multi-layered stories, not always easy to do
in a novelette’s shorter format, but Ms. Reeves delivers in spades.
