About the author

Escape into addictive, sexy, emotional M/M romance.
A.D. Ellis is an Indiana girl, born and raised. She spends much of her time in central Indiana as an instructional coach/teacher in the inner city of Indianapolis, being a mom to two amazing teens, and wondering how she and her husband of over two decades haven't driven each other insane yet. A lot of her time is also devoted to phone call avoidance and her hatred of cooking.
She loves chocolate, hot tea, sweet wine with friends, pizza, and naps along with reading and writing romance. These loves don’t leave much time for housework, much to the chagrin of her husband. Who would pick cleaning the house over a nap or a good book? She uses any extra time to increase her fluency in sarcasm.
A.D. uses she/they pronouns.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 14, 2021Friends Brody and Nick are both looking for a way to save money on their living arrangement, so - Bingo - they decide to get married and live together. What begins as a marriage of convenience becomes much more, and I really enjoyed the MCs and their sweet, emotional, pretty low-angst story. Add to the story one BFF, a zany Mom, a homophobic Army CO, some personal doubts and insecurities, mix well, and you have a great stand-alone MM romance.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 23, 2018When I started reading again A.D. was one of the first authors I read and I couldn’t stop with just one. By the end I finished her whole first series and then the spin off... now going into her series of male male... AMAZING!!! With each series you fall more in love with her characters and her but more importantly her writing style!
I had my ups and downs with Brody and was sure how things would turn out but my understanding soon won out and waited. Nick I loved immediately and wanted things to progress quite rapidly with his future and Brody. Addie was such an awesome best friend and to see her stick with Nick was so heartwarming.
I loved this so much and even though Brody pissed me off and I wanted to yell and scream at him, I just kept reading. This author writes with such passion you can feel, speaking true issues and how things affect life outside of books. She’s inspiring.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 14, 2017Don't get me wrong, the characters are nice, but it was a pretty slow slog with some unnecessary drama thrown in at the end to set up the HEA. I feel like it missed a lot of opportunity too, no conflict between them (other than the last) and very little outside interaction (mostly just them hanging out). I would have liked to see Nick and Brody attend an Army ball, or something where they had to "pretend." It was obvious from the start where it was going to end and it seemed to take forever to get there.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 5, 2016I like this story, but come on, did they really expect things to go the way they thought it up in their head? They had to know that the (two) hearts wants what the heart wants. Brody and Nick hatched a plan to save money. Get and stay married for a year they can both have hookup as long as it was no secret, then go on their way when the year was up. But love have a way of sneaking up on you especially when hearts are involved.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 4, 2019Addie and Brody had been best friends for the last 5 years. Brody's father had thrown him out of their house when he came out as gay. Since he couldn't pay for college on his own, Brody joined the military. Nick was the roommate of one of Brody's short-term lovers. While on duty overseas, Brody and Nick started texting & sexting.
To make a long story short, Brody proposed a marriage of convenience with Nick when Brody had 1 more year 'til leaving the military & Nick had 1 more year to graduate from college.
From partners to lovers to falling in love with each other, their relationship kept evolving closer & closer. And Addie was there supporting, chastising and loving them all along their journey.
A surprise ending adds the cherry to the sundae deliciousness of this book!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 8, 2017I don’t know where the author comes up with the ideas for her books but getting together to gain a monthly housing allowance is a very original reason for two to get married. There is so much to this story. Addie who is Brody’s BFF always pushing for the details of Brody’s love life. Brody who doesn’t think things through just acts impulsively. Nick who is an all around nice guy, and Renee, Brody’s mom who really gets him. Put this all together and what a story. This is another book I could not put down. I wanted to yell at Brody and cry for Nick. I love Addie and she is much more than a friend. And who wouldn’t want a parent like Renee. I was surprised at the ending but think it’s a nice touch.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 4, 2017A,different plot and I liked that. The characters are lovable and sweet. This was a fun book and worth the read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very romantic
Great story and characters! I actually liked this even more than Bryan and Jase, even though I gave the latter a higher rating; I’ll explain later.
The story for Brody and Nick is relatively longer and more complex, which I appreciated because I got to see more of their relationship. They go through ups and downs like you would expect any couple to do. My complaint against some romances is that they have a great lack of conflict, or they only have one minor conflict between the partners that is very quickly resolved. So I’m glad that Brody and Nick went through a good number of hardships that are also believable and natural. Their relationship is not too easy but not too challenging either.
Nick and Brody were both developed and 3D characters in that we witness their different sides, dive down some layers to explore their points of deep emotion, and have some backstory. Though it was mostly Brody who wrestles through his issues and insecurities, I enjoyed watching how he overcomes them and matures as a person. It was pleasing, though, that in spite of all the mistakes Brody makes and all the hurt he causes for Addie (his female best friend) and Nick, Nick and Addie still love him unconditionally and see the best in him. Thankfully, Brody does deserve their faith and love because he always tries to do the right thing, even though he messes up a lot.
The romance is of a more three-dimensional and well-developed type too. We got to see what activities they do together, like camping, hiking, and boating, which show us the friendship and companionship side of things, not just the sexual side. Also, I liked how they already established some sort of an emotional bond before the start of the book (though it was mostly through text conversations), and that it took even longer for this bond to deepen into sincere romantic love. I tend to prefer the slow burn kind of romance, after all. Relationships feel stronger and more solid to me too if the partners have known each other for longer and have gone through more difficulties together.
What brought down my rating a bit, was that aside from some typos, there were many instances where a pronoun reference was unclear (not sure if “he” referred to Nick or Brody), or it was uncertain which character spoke a specific line of dialogue. There were some times where transitions aren’t clear either, and I had to reread to figure out where the characters are now located. A greater problem was that characters sometimes change their minds or attitudes too quickly, in my opinion; maybe the emotional transition was too abrupt, or I needed to see more internal (and at times external) conflict first. They wouldn’t give up without a good fight, as they say.
Nevertheless, I really enjoyed reading this book and loved Brody and Nick’s romance! It was very sweet and touching.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nick and Brody
I enjoyed the tenderness of this book, though sometimes I wanted to smack the characters silly!!! This story is about how sometimes a bad decision can take you to a good place in life and how to value the things you have. It is not a long book so you can finish it in one afternoon ( maybe a weekend) and relax with it. The first part is kind of slow, but the ending picks up the pace Nd is worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic heart clenching story
The story was well paced and emotionally intense. I almost cried when my battery died 80% of the way through and raced home to finish. Where I did cry in the end. Wonderfully crafted story and cannot wait to read more from A.D.Ellis.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another great book in this series
Nick and Brody decide to fake marry essentially to save money. As time moves on they develop feelings for each other that turns to love. But what happens when one of them runs scared. Two broken hearted men, one who can't say I was wrong and the other left devastated and alone. Can love being them back together again.

3.0 out of 5 stars A cute story idea, that gets lost
Brody and Nick by A.D. Ellis is set around the idea of 2 friends that get married for financial gain, but end up falling for each other. Army specialist Brody King, is looking to get out of barracks housing, but the only way to live off base is if you are married. Brody can save some money if only he can find someone to marry…enter Nick Ferguson. Nick is close to graduation, but has settled his life with his volunteer work and potential career path of starting his own charity. But he needs out of his current rooming situation and marring Brody seems like it is the best of both worlds.
This is one is a series of books, we didn’t ready the others, so safe to assume you can read as a standalone. Brody and Nick are great characters, and you fall in love with the beginning of the story. We totally got caught up in their rush to get married, and their sweet, sexy vibe. But the story kinda loses steam, and becomes a bit drama and angsty. As expected they fall in love each other, but when they are both ready to tell each other, something throws a wrench in the story, and drama. Plus they tend to emote a lot, and on and on and on. We tended to skim a bit.
There are lots of great things about this story, the development of characters and their friends is really fun, everyone should have friends like these. And their journey to love is great, how they fall in love, you actually feel for them, and believe. And the best part is the epilogue, 5-star, A.D. Ellis should write a course in good epilogues!
Brody and Nick is a cute marriage-of-convenience story, which makes you believe in love, but too much drama and angst makes it a long read!
