About the author

Escape into addictive, sexy, emotional M/M romance.
A.D. Ellis is an Indiana girl, born and raised. She spends much of her time in central Indiana as an instructional coach/teacher in the inner city of Indianapolis, being a mom to two amazing teens, and wondering how she and her husband of over two decades haven't driven each other insane yet. A lot of her time is also devoted to phone call avoidance and her hatred of cooking.
She loves chocolate, hot tea, sweet wine with friends, pizza, and naps along with reading and writing romance. These loves don’t leave much time for housework, much to the chagrin of her husband. Who would pick cleaning the house over a nap or a good book? She uses any extra time to increase her fluency in sarcasm.
A.D. uses she/they pronouns.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 29, 2016A.D. Ellis has done an incredible job with this new novel. Coming out of an introduction of these main characters, the story takes you on an incredible emotional roller coaster ride that will pull at your heartstrings. The story line remains strong and the main characters are well developed. Bryan and Jase were in the Military together forming a strong friendship together until the attraction for each other brings them oh so much closer together. Bryan being an out and proud gay man and Jase, a very closeted straight man who was very confused of his sexuality. Jase knows Bryan is gay and he has experimented with men in the past, but Bryan was different. He wanted it with him. After they come by from Deployment Bryan is Discharged home and Jase is reassigned to a base out of state. The two keep in touch for approximately about a year, then see each other again at a wedding. Bryan finds out that the wife that Jase was going to divorce is still around and that Jase has a baby. Everything has changed, but their feelings for each other haven't. Evidently Jase's wife knows about Bryan and is blackmailing Jase in staying with her. Jase's parents don't know he is gay and Jase is afraid he would lose everything due to his homophobic father. Bryan and Jase spend as much time together as they can in that weekend, but that appears to be it. After a long period of time they don't contact each other and Bryan still can't forget him. After Jase's wife comes back with a Sugar Daddy and Divorce Papers and Giving up her rights to their child, Jase makes a decision to move him and his son to Indianapolis to start a new life hopefully with Bryan if he can find him. It's been almost a decade. Their long time relationship comes together with the three of them and Life is good. But Jase's father is not done yet when he finds out Jase is with a gay man....Jase's son is at stake, what does he do? His Homophobic father will not let Jase taint the family name so he tries to destroy Jase and Bryan's little family. Loved this story... A beautiful story of friendship turning into love... A Must Read
- Reviewed in the United States on May 5, 2016OK First off I liked the story but I was so mad at some of the characters in this one. Jase's family drove me crazy and I couldn't understand why he didn't stick up for himself and Bryan. After I try to get over that , I liked that this story spanned some years. They met and hook up in the military for about a week before they go home where they lose touch. 2 years later they meet up again and get together for about another week. Jase is married and has a son which affects his decisions which I can understand. He wife leaves finally and when you read this story you will cheer that statement too. He decides to leave his home and take his son to find Bryan. At this point it is about 5 years later. Bryan has never forgotten about Jase and when they were together they talked about going to a convention so of course that is where they find each other again. Now Jase and Bryan are together, raising his son and being a happy little family until Jase's parents show. They find out about Bryan and hell breaks loose. This is where I go crazy, instead of Jase telling them to go jump, he leaves Bryan and goes home with his parents. I am leaving some drama out and once you read this it will make more sense. Bryan is heartbroken but he feels Jase has to put his son first and cant take the chance that his parents will try to take Gray away from them. Now they do get their HEA but I was so disappointed in Jase at the end. This story definitely had me turning the pages to see what happens next so I have it a 4 but would have been a 5 star read if not for the horrible parents.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 28, 2021This is a dramatic, heartbreaking, romantic and sweet story. After Jase had figured out that he might like guys, he married a woman so that his very bigoted father would never know. Then he met Bryan while he was in the service. Bryan had been attracted to Jase from the moment they met, but was happy to just be friends. He constantly teased Jase by asking if he wanted to meet behind the dumpster and make out. But when their last deployment together was almost over, Bryan got a little more serious about it, but was still shocked when Jase to meet behind the dumpster. After Bryan got out of the service, and Jase moved on, they thought that that was the end. Fate had a different plan for them though. The journey that Jase took was not an easy one, he had little confidence, parents who threatened him and a wife. Bryan was sweet and caring enough to not be an added stressor. This has an intense storyline and some interesting characters. It was really hard to put down, I couldn't wait to find out what would happen next.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 31, 2017This,was a fantastic story and I was ready to give it a five star until about eighty percent when Jase shows no backbone and let's his father lead him around like a puppy. It was disgusting. No man in his right mind would leave with someone like that let alone have their son around him. Going for 3 weeks was more dangerous to Gray than staying would have been. It nearly ruined the story for me.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 23, 2016This story of two friends who travel a very rocky road from friendship to love was outstanding.
Bryan and Jade meet and serve together in the Army. Toward the end of their tour they finally allow for a very hot weekend together and although both would like to continue the affair, Jade is locked into a loveless marriage. His wife is a heavy duty golddigger who threatens to out her husband to his homophobic father and mother if he ever tries to turn her off and also threatens to take their son away as well.
Jade and Bryan's love of each other is very romantic and sexually hot. The love that they both have for Jase's son is also very touching.
Each of these points provide history, jeaprody and excitement to the story.
(I personally enjoy romantic stories to hot and heavy sex stories, so I give this five Valentine hearts.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Bryan and Jase
I enjoyed this story with it's loves and heart aches and to see love to win out over all I know this doesn't always happen in life but it does happen. So heart aches and all this was a beautiful story and it was great to show that love can over come fear and persecution while there is love we can over come all phobia's.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet romance!
4.75 stars.
This was very good! It was so sweet to watch Jase and Bryan’s relationship blossom and deepen, and the angst was at a good level—not too much to be overwhelming, but not too little as to make their romance seem too easy.
Grayson, a certain secondary character, was very cute and such a darling; he was a drop of golden light in the story. Braeton, another secondary character, was a nice addition to the cast too, and a great ally. I hated Sierra and Frank (Jase’s father), however.
It was very sad that though some people around them are open-minded towards same-sex relationships, many others still aren’t. The latter could even be openly hateful and attempt to hurt gay people! I know such bigots exist, but it was still shocking to read about their hostility and nonsensical close-mindedness.
So overall, this was a lovely story that was both gripping and touching. I’m so glad that Jase and Bryan got to be together, even though I knew they would since this is a romance. There wasn’t really anything to complain about in the book, but I guess we could have seen a bit more character development for the protagonists, and even for Gray and Braeton? The romance was compelling and heartwarming, yet I feel that we could have seen some more of Bryan and Jase’s relationship, like with the Gen Con and their video gaming—the friendship parts of their romance, not just the intimacy parts, though the latter are cool as well.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hmmm Yah Sorry.
This is an okay story about Bryan and Jase after they arrive back base from doing an military stint together. Bryan heads back home to his parents in Houston and to attend a wedding a year later. He doesn't expect to hear a voice at the airport of Jase turns and sees hes not alone a wife and baby too. The story losses me at this stage cause why would Bryan stay in the same hotel as Jase and his family and everything else happens after.. They have a fling together for the weekend and go their separate ways. Time fly's with no contact.. why isn't Bryan moving on to someone more worthy of him... Fate steps in again and they see each other.... Sorry Ms Ellis I think the time/years separating them lost my connection with the characters.. I think I would love to read Braeton's story he seems a wonderful guy..

4.0 out of 5 stars This is a really good read.
This is a fast paced intense read that keeps you on the edge of your seat and your heart racing. It's about Bryan an openly gay military man and his straight best friend Jace who is also in the military. It's a story about how love can conquer all even when the odds are against you. It's about fighting for what you want and need even if it means a custody battle with your homophobic parents or a blackmailing wife. It's about two men who learn that they are meant to be together and are stronger together than apart. Recommended
