About the author

USA TODAY bestselling author Joann Keder spent her formative years (40) on the vast Great Plains of Nebraska, where the sky is endless, and the winters build character. After sixteen years of teaching piano and enduring countless renditions of "I forgot to practice," she returned to school and earned a master's degree in creative writing. A mid-life move to the Pacific Northwest inspired her to shake up her priorities and focus on crafting small-town stories full of heart, humor, and a touch of quirk. With her supportive family cheering her on—and occasionally asking if she’s really working—she plans to continue until there are no more books inside her head.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 16, 2023A riveting read with lots of mystery. Multiple mysteries keep you guessing as to what is going to happen next. I love the characters of Gemini and Feather. They complement each other very well. I loom forward to reading the next book in the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 16, 2022Interesting characters, a puzzling mystery and a great story. I didn't want to put the book down. I just had to know what was going to happen. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 12, 2022Just because you're over fifty doesn't mean you don't need to reinvent yourself and figure out just who you are. As the mother of an over the top controlling daughter who has definite ideas of what is good for everyone else, I could relate to this character.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 18, 2021Something is off at the hospital Leo is at for a clinical trial for a new cancer medication. There's a missing doctor, and other mysteries. There is also quiet humor in this story, like the characters' names.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 16, 2022Welcome to Charming, Oregon where the local doctor has gone missing. Gemini and her husband, Leo, have come to the quaint town in hopes to have a medical miracle. Leo has been accepted into a trial for a new drug and they are hopeful that this is going to be the answer to their prayers. When they arrive the head doctor is missing. Gemini takes it upon herself to solve the mystery as to where the good doctor has gone.
While Leo is in the hospital, undergoing the trial, Gemini meets Feather. Feather is able to speak to the dead and as she is learning how to balance her ability and not allow the town to think she is crazy, she and Gemini work together to solve the mystery of the missing doctor with help from beyond.
The characters in this book are so realistic! I have never read a book before where a character made me feel so angry that I needed to put the book down for a while until I read this book! Gemini and Leo have a daughter named Sophia, and oh my Sophia made my blood boil! She is an adult and talks to her mother with such disrespect that I just wanted to slap her. With that aside, I loved all of the other characters in this book. I felt like I was there with Gemini and Feather helping to solve the mystery.
If you enjoy reading books about an older retired woman filling her days trying to solve a mystery in a small town, then this book is for you.
I received a copy of this book from the author and this is my honest review.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 18, 2022I will start with the fact that this is a good story. I read the paperback version of the book. The author thanks her Street Team including beta readers and her editor for their help in making this story a success. Throughout this book are many typos and other mistakes. It's not just one area of the book. There are misspelled words, spaces between letters in words that shouldn't have spaces, sentences with missing words and words in the wrong places within the sentence, sentences that aren't complete, etc. Sometimes, the flow of the story was difficult to follow from one paragraph to the next within the same chapter. I have a difficult time understanding how her Street Team missed all of these mistakes. I recommend that Joann Keder plan time to reread this book.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2021Maybe, but this story is complex, clever and unique! I have never read a book quite like this! It's a lot of fun. Grab it and enjoy!
