DECK THE GNOMES: A Christmas Valley Romance, Book 7 (Christmas Valley Romances) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 20 ratings

DECK THE GNOMES (A Christmas Valley Romance, Book 6)(50,939 words)

The gnomes have it . . .

There’s something quirky about the Christmas gnomes scattered throughout Gingerbread Cottage. For one thing, they’re never in the same place in the morning that they were the evening before. And then, there’s the tittering…

Bonnie Hall wants to know who’s messing with the merchandise after she closes up every night. There’s no budget to install security cameras, and even if there was, who’d believe her about rearranged gnomes, anyway? She’s on her own finding the culprit.

Griffin Conte is trying to convince Bonnie to marry him. In an effort to further his cause, the security expert insists he’ll accompany her on the overnight surveillance gig she has planned to catch the gnarly gnome hooligan.

But...things aren’t what they appear to be inside Gingerbread Cottage. Both Griff and Bonnie are surprised at what can happen when the lights are off.

Ann Simas lives in Oregon, but she is a Colorado girl at heart, having grown up in the Rocky Mountains. She has been an avid reader since childhood and penned her first fiction "book" in high school. She particularly likes to write mystery/suspense/thriller with a love story and paranormal or supernatural elements. She is a three-time RWA Golden Heart Finalist. Simas currently has 42 books in print. All are available in both paperback and in ebook format.

An award-winning watercolorist and a budding photographer, Ann also enjoys needlework and gardening in her spare time. She is her family's "genealogist" and has been blessed with the opportunity to conduct first-hand research in Italy for both her writing and her family tree. The genealogy research from decade's old documents in Italian, she says, has been a supreme but gratifying challenge.

Deck the Gnomes was a good story. The characters were well-written and likable. The main plot of the romance was good.
The extras, the gnomes and the guardian angels, felt ridiculous and forced. They just weren't necessary. It felt like unnecessary cheap tricks.

A unique story of love and mischief that has some drawn out parts that seemed unnecessary and other rushed parts I would've enjoyed learning more about, despite this I did enjoy this story. Overall I enjoyed reading about Bonnie and Griff and those pesky gnomes, seeing how their relationship developed and how Griff got on so well wirh Sadie and Cassey was heartwarming. The other characters in the town and their lives where intriguing and I would enjoy reading more from the series.

Deck the Gnomes is an entertaining story with a couple who falls in love with the "help" of gnomes who dwell in a Christmas Valley shop, The Gingerbread Cottage. Christmas Valley residents are introduced to us in each story, but we also revisit older participants and the stories develop. It's fun to see how the characters interact with each new story.

First, I want to thank Ann Simas for proving me this book so I may bring you this review.

Ann Simas does it again and comes up with a very cute and entertaining Christmas book in Deck the Gnomes. This book had me smiling from ear to ear.

Kudos to the adorable and very cute cover for the book. It definitely caught my eye and was enticed to see what it was all about. However, reading Ann’s past work I knew it would be a great book.

I thought this was cute that she wrote: Whatever you no, do not piss off the gnomes!

Another cute saying in the book by an unknown author was: I have been good this year. Okay, I have been good most of he time. Never mind, I will buy my own gifts.

Ann Simas must love Pizza cus she mentions it a LOT in her books! Now I have serious craving for pizza.

I love how FruityCakes from the other books were in this book too. So if you are not craving pizza by the end of the book you will be craving cookies.

In this book we meet Griffith Conte and the triplets.

Never had I heard the term commitment relationship suicide other than this book before. I thought it was quite comical.

I enjoyed this book so much! This is the seventh book in the series but my first to read. I got it because the title and cover caught my eye. I could tell that it wasn’t the first book as characters were established and there were small references to some of them. Even though I knew it wasn’t the first book, I was able to fully enjoy it on its own. I am very interested in previous books.
I like Bonnie and Griffin. I could relate very well to Bonnie. I loved that her children were a part of the book. I can get annoyed by children being introduced in the opening chapter and then you don’t see them again until the wedding. Do they even know the groom? In Deck the Gnomes, Sadie and Casey were included up until the end. I admit I was a little disappointed that they weren’t in the wedding part. I was expecting to read what they wore and what part they played in the wedding. It was a teensy disappointment though as there were surprise guests, (at least a surprise for me), attending. They drew my attention away from the children.
If you are looking for a fun book with Christmas and love magic, pick this up. The gnomes are really part of the story, too. I’m planning on reading the rest of this series. *As of the writing of this review, Deck the Gnomes was available in the Kindle Unlimited program. I used this program to read the book.*

This is the fourth book I have read by this author. I enjoy her writing. I like visiting Christmas Valley. The romances are quick, sweet, and full of chemistry. If you are not a fan of insta-love this series isn't for you. I did not mind it in the books I have read in this series so far. I liked Bonnie and Griffin. I had previously "met" Bonnie in another book. I enjoyed seeing her story unfold with plenty of mischief and a bit of the paranormal aspects. I am sure I will end up reading the other books in this series that I have not read yet. I would recommend them to others who enjoy Christmas romances.
