These books are just what I need after a stress-filled day at work and being bombarded with stress-inducing news reports at home. The characters are relatable and likable. The mysteries are good, not impossible to work out but when I relax I want to be entertained, not to keep working. I'm hoping to find more books by these authors, the humor in these books is something I think most of us can relate to. It takes intelligence to create good humor and it can be found here. The minimal typos are due to oversight rather than the ignorance of the writers.

Somehow I got the impression that this was the first seven books in one series, so I was surprised to find three books about one set of characters, three about another set of characters, and one that was a standalone.

The first three books were okay, with two ladies of an undetermined age getting embroiled in solving murders. The plots were pretty farfetched, especially in the third book, but the books were mildly entertaining. I did get tired of the lead character obsessing about food and her weight, though.

The second set of three were about a young woman in a bakery solving murders. These were also farfetched but okay.

The final book involved a different young woman moving into a house haunted by an actor from the 1940s. I gave up on this one because the main character was just too annoying.

This selection was really cute. I really enjoyed reading the books that were included. After the stress of the plague I have been looking for mysteries that are more light hearted instead of the blood and guts slasher type. This selection fits the bill. Good read.

These are the first stories I have read by Sylvia and Leigh Selfman. Flo and Izzy are hysterical, while constantly getting into trouble and life threatening situations. Especially Izzy, I wonder how she has survived so long. The plots supporting characters are very compelling. The stories in the bakeshop series were well plotted, both with some interesting twists. I like some humor with my mayhem. I could see the ending coming in the first one's but the author caught me by surprise in the second one. The final story about Arden and her ghostly roommate definitely grabbed me and held on tight . It had a spectacular ending. The reason I have given this anthology four stars instead of five, is because the proofreading throughout left much to be desired. Throughout all the stories, there were words left out, words or phrases repeated, when they shouldn't have been. This probably bothered me more than it would some readers, because English and literature has always been my strength. When I come across grammatical errors, it throws me right off the track, detracts from the enjoyment of the story. These ladies are so good at what they do, that I will continue to search out their stories, but I truly hope they find a new proofreader.

I thoroughly enjoyed all of the stories. They definitely held my attention. I read all the stories in one afternoon. I did not want to put my iPad down. I would recommend these to anyone who likes cozy mysteries. They have a tendency to relax you and not tense you up like some stories do.

I think that I read these books in about a week and a half; one after the other! They were easy reading, funny, and the characters were full of life! If getting old and being retired is half this much fun, I for one am looking forward to it! Great summer reading for the baby boomer crowd!

Absolutely loved the last one, apart from a number of grammatical errors, but the Izzy Green ones didn’t do it for me at all. Pretty much all the same formula, and she got to be very annoying - I couldn’t read more than about 2 and a bit, sorry.
