5.0 out of 5 stars Another great read
This book has a much more condensed timeline than the previous entries in the series, with Harris managing to pack plenty of action into a single day. I liked how smoothly the narrative baton was passed between characters, giving the reader multiple perspectives on all the different threads that were in play and allowing the tension to build (I might have been rude to my husband when he tried to interrupt my reading when I was near the end!). It was also great to see the universe as experienced by some "normal" characters, rather than just the warrior/spy/assassin type characters we've seen previously.
I'm a bit worried Harris has set himself a hard task to tie up all the threads in book four, but I look forward to seeing where he takes us next!

4.0 out of 5 stars Science fiction, but not as we know it
Harris returns to Neela Kane, who will be inaugurated as the Speaker of the Commonwealth. Evil forces are trying to stop her. Vivid descriptions of the special powers of some of the protagonists. The parallel story of two poor but spirited young people trying to survive and their encounters with the police adds an unexpected twist. Gripping read; could not put it down.
