Challenge Accepted Kindle Edition
Riley's single-mindedness usually gets her into trouble. More than that, she hates losing, so when the horse farm she inherited from her late parents can't keep going, she knows she has to do something. A well-timed invitation to a gaming convention is just what she needs for her second chance.
She used to be known as CareBear, but she left that name behind when she was slut-shamed out of the scene. That doesn't mean she's given up, though. Riley's not the kind of girl to quit. No, with her neon dreads, a few tattoos, and a chip on her shoulder the size of the draft horses she loves so much, she'll just cuss a little louder and double down.
Because she's in this to win - both the farm and the games - not to meet a man. Especially not one who thinks he's better than her, because in these circles, guys like him are usually out to destroy every woman who tries to break into the industry. That makes this a challenge she can't turn down. After all, she doesn't care about anyone's opinion but her own - and proving that she won't be chased off.
She just didn't expect this guy to be so… Sexy? Understanding? Amazing!
Void is everything she's ever wanted. He's also her competition, so if she wants to save the family farm, she can't get distracted by his ripped body, sultry smile, or those sweet words that are quickly destroying the anger that got her this far. She's seen that trick used too many times before.
Everyone else may be playing a game, but Riley?
She's fighting for something much bigger -
The gamer girls.
The Gamer Girls series features strong women and the men who love them. Knowledge about gaming and/or gamer culture is not necessary to enjoy this story. Graphic language and situations that are suitable for a mature audience are included. CHALLENGE ACCEPTED is a standalone novel which moves forward a larger story.

About the authors
Auryn Hadley is an American girl who swelters in the summers with her husband, three dogs, and the neighborhood cats. Her coffee addiction is impressive and allows her to keep writing the next book. Her husband keeps telling her it's great, even though he doesn't like to read, so she ignores him.
With a degree in biology, a few decades in gaming, and a love for all things out of this world, she writes across genres looking for the story that is begging to be told. From love to loss, hopes and dreams, there's always an escape waiting inside the pages of her books. She tries to capture the idealism of New Adult literature while addressing more adult topics because life doesn't get any less exciting when you grow up.
As you would expect, Kitty Cox has a love of cats, but also dogs, horses, and pretty much any animal. She's always enjoyed a good love story. A chance meeting involving a martini, a margarita, and some laughs with another author convinced her to finally put words to paper - and now she can't seem to stop.
From the sweet and tender idea of second chance romances, to the hot and dirty thrill of stories intended for adult audiences, the wonders of falling in love are where her imagination goes. She likes to blame it on the hot and spicy climate of her home town in Texas. Then again, it could just be a result of growing up on stolen romance novels hidden under her pillow at night.

I absolutely adored the actual gaming. The banter between the players, the action, the camaraderie... I love the characters: Riley is so badass and caring. Logan was a surprise, I didn't expect to love him so much, he's so genuinely sweet and seriously imperfectly perfect. Kitty is great, I hope she gets her own book. Knock is too adorable. On to book three.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 30, 2020Business owner, farm girl, dreads, gamer - Riley does it all, with attitude. She meets Void, a stellar gamer with his own secrets, and they hit it off nicely.
After the first book, I was expecting this one to be darker, so I read it with a sense of waiting for the other shoe to drop. While there were a couple of nasty scenes, the overall tone was lighter, and actual game [and chat] heavy. Tempered with more romance (and by that I mean sex) this is definitely a different tone than the first book, but still an enjoyable read.
The books share the same gamer world, familiar names woven into the story seamlessly. I look forward to the third and will be starting it next. An example of the writing, overall sound but I caught a few missed typos:
"She made her way into the kitchen and glanced back at the group of guys lounging around her room. This felt so normal, now. These were true friends. It didn't matter that this was the first time they'd all been face to face. There was a strange connection they shared that no one outside the scene would understand. Pro-Gamers hung out with sponsored gamers who were close friends with everyday gamers, and no one even batted an eye at it. The best part was that not a one of them cared that she wasn't a man."
- Reviewed in the United States on March 16, 2016Challenge Accepted covers yet another genre and shows the varied range of characters in Ms. Hadley's arsenal. She writes in such a way that you are not just an observer, but the words truly put you in the story. The belief is spun so well it makes you feel that these could be your friends and makes me hate closing the story.
Riley is a strong female character, but Logan isn't a pushover either! I enjoyed watching the personalities unfold and compliment each other. I can't wait to see where this series takes me.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2023This series started with a bang, breaking my heart and putting it back together in a cycle. "Challenge Accepted" is in the lighter side, a bit less angst, but packs no less of a punch. I absolutely adored the actual gaming. The banter between the players, the action, the camaraderie... This shows the gaming community as it's supposed to be: a family where we've got each other's backs, where no one is really a stranger because we don't need to know each other "in real life" to be part of the team. I love the characters: Riley is so badass and caring. Logan was a surprise, I didn't expect to love him so much, he's so genuinely sweet and seriously imperfectly perfect. I love Kitty, I hope she gets her own book. Knock is too adorable. I love the Paradox guys, wish we had seen more of them. Love the Executive Pain guys as well!! I was really glad to catch glimpses of the "Flawed" characters. And that last reveal? Daaaaammmnnn. It's not a plot twist, or even that big a deal, but I did not see that coming, haha! I really just enjoyed this story so much! My only issue is sometimes the point of view shifts in the narration, and it's not right away obvious that it's another character's point of view. But it's not jarring enough to take me out of the story.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 30, 2023I love video games and this whole series does such a dang good job of making it REAL! I have read many video game books and none of them have been this length or this well done. Great characters, setting, plot, spice, and I am just sucked in to every book and every character. I hope all their characters get a book by the time I'm through the series. Thank you for making something for us gamer girls :P
- Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2018Challenge accepted is another winner in the Gamer Girl series. This book (second in the series) can be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading Flawed first, as the overall plot (to identify and capture some gamers who have gone over the line in their effort to keep women out of--in their opinion--a male-only industry). Characters overlap between the books, but I especially appreciate the authors made no effort to rehash the prior book's plot, only making relevant references to past events. As with book one, the explanations of the industry and rules/ regulations for gaming, makes Challenge Accepted an interesting read with a complex, yet easy to follow story line. Very well done. I am looking forward to the next book(s) in the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 12, 2021Another wonderful story from Auryn Hadley and Kitty Cox! Riley lives the life I would love to! She has a fantastic horse farm and gets to play video games. As a lover of both, she was just an amazing character. She is strong, and in your face, taking no prisoners on her way to get what she wants. She is unapologetic about who she is.
Unfortunately, it is not all great for Riley, the Kings of Gamers are coming for her, and doing all they can to harass and keep her down. But she pushes through and shows them to be the idiots they are.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 20, 2023I understand nothing of the gaming world so I'm frequently lost in the playing, but it doesn't matter because the characters and the relationships they have and are forging are amazing. I love how this series is girl power forward but not at the expense of man hate. Riley has found an on-line family of men who are in awe of her and protect her. My only disappointment is that I was hoping that this series would be more built on the characters of book one. I loved them and I'm hoping to see them get a HEA. Now I'm doubling down on this cast of characters getting their own HEA.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loving this series
I'm a casual gamer and these books are very good and interesting to read. Not as much need to walk away from this book for a breather as book one but very happy this isn't a cookie cutter series. Great H/h and side characters and pulled me right into the story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing
This series is turning out to be one of if not my top read of 2020. QQ and Void’s story is sweet and romantic in a I’m going to kick your ass kind of way!
About to jump into Fragged cause I found this amazing series thanks to Virtual reality, book 3 in this series. I hope Cyn gets a HEA at some point. He deserves to be loved the most...

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant!!
Well this was certainly a different type of romantic tale to the first book, and I loved it all the more for that fact! For once. The expected had become the unexpected and I adored that element!
There are a couple of Authors that I expect surprises from, and Auryn is one of those. That doesn’t mean I ever see the surprises coming though! Even knowing that I need to expect the unexpected I still never have any idea what is going to happen next.
This was surprising for the softer tone, the more relaxed type of romance, but it still has that bit of a kick. There are still moments and scenarios that make you think “well, I didn’t see that coming!” And the changes in situations certainly keep you invested in the story.
This is a much more smooth, relaxed sort of romance more especially when compared to the raw, hard hitting line of the first in the series. The change of pace was brilliantly done, surprising in a different kind of way, and I have to say it’s making me rather suspicious of what is going to happen in the next book!!
Each story in this series is about a different couple, so it gives the perfect opportunity to have new and entirely different personalities and histories, friendships and priorities, and yet maintains the scope to interweave their lives to whatever extent they wish. The connecting theme of gaming leaves these stories brilliantly open to and other life elements they might wish to include, and from this and the previous stories completely individual slants, they fully intend to use that in thoroughly engaging ways.
I really enjoyed the Characters in this one, Riley is no pushover, she’s determined to be successful in her endeavours regardless of what others may intend. So many points I felt bad for her, this isn’t a person who has had the easiest or simplest sort of life, and I loved the way we gradually learn about her history. Bit by bit this believably complex woman is revealed to us, in a way that is somehow more honest. There isn’t a sort of history dump where we learn everything in one go, rather she gradually comes to talk to her love interest about who she is and why, revealing more about herself and her life as the story goes.
I also loved the fact that Riley and her best friend Kitty owned a horse business, it did give me a bit of a snicker initially because I’ve been wondering when the Authors would have this type of living pop up! Although the idea of raising and breeding horses is mentioned as a pipe dream in another series, this is the first I’ve seen it given the centre role, and I loved the surprises THAT element shared along the way.
Where the first book shows the darker side of the ‘Gamer scene’ alongside the community element, this book centres on the sense of community and camaraderie that happens, and I absolutely adored the genius behind that balance. Every hobby or passion has so many facets, and this series is so far showing that beautifully!!
If you enjoy your romance stories to be different each time, keep you on your toes even when it’s a smoother, more relaxing type of tale (though still not fluffy), with unique Characters and stories that you can entirely believe whole considering a variety of societal issues and injustices, then this series is one you absolutely must pick up!

5.0 out of 5 stars Kickass
A Strong, Kickass heroine who doesn't apologise for who she is. Riley has reinvented herself. The first time she entered the arena as serious gamer, others were very vocal, telling her the wrong information, making her look bad, without a leg to stand on when the accusations flew. Now she is determined to show how good a gamer she is , and prove herself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Continuation! A Must Read!
Auryn and Kitty successfully delivered another entertaining instalment of their Gamer Girls series. I've read this series more than a few times. I love how the authors make the characters relatable. You can't help but root for them!
