Get The Yak Out Kindle Edition
Prepare yourself for a dose of quintessential British humor seasoned with modern deadpan cynicism. If the phrase "Can't be bothered" resonates with you, you're in for a riotous journey through the misadventures of the master of minimal effort and the Sultan of staying under the radar.
Meet Ben, whose philosophy in life is to choose the path of least resistance. But alas, even the most indifferent hipster can't escape the curse of a Friday that unfolds like a tragicomedy. Maybe he should have declared "CBB" before emerging from the sanctuary of his bed.
London's public transport grinds to a halt, shattering Ben's dreams of an effortless commute on the one day he desperately needs to get home. Buckle up for a ride where avoiding effort becomes the ultimate challenge in a city paralyzed by transportation mayhem.
The day transforms into a chaotic circus featuring showdowns with his boss, cat-and-mouse games with Finnish gangsters, unenthusiastic assistance to lost tourists, and a mission to ditch a clingy local wino lackey. All while navigating the absurdity with the grace of a sloth on roller skates.
But fear not, this isn't your typical Nordic noir post-apocalyptic space-aged bromance. Instead, it's a tale of one cynical hipster’s race against the clock to get to a place he didn’t want to be in the first place, peppered with encounters with zombies, cosmonauts, Bentley drama, and the kind of chaos only a reluctant hero can attract.
"Get The Yak Out" invites you to join Ben on a laughter-filled quest where indifference reigns supreme. The question remains: Are you ready to yak? Dive into this side-splitting tale where deadpan cynicism meets British hilarity, and let the laughter ensue. It's time to get the yak out!

About the author

Christian was born and raised in southern Sweden. Already at a young age he developed a flair for writing, or at least scribbling. For many years it never amounted to any competitive or commercial attempts, but the words kept coming. They kept coming to the extent that all of a sudden there was a book. Then another one. And then more.
Christian currently resides in Heidelberg, Germany. He’s got a daytime job in the aerospace industry. No, he’s not an astronaut or even a rocket scientist, and albeit being in the far periphery of the field, it is an exceptionally fascinating area to be in.
He’s a history buff, a travel addict, a huge sports fan, fascinated by astronomy, and would like to get better at photography.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 17, 2025A funny and absurd story about a long journey. The main character starts out as a bit of a self-absorbed twit, and goes through 36 hours of increasingly bizarre adventures.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 14, 2021Normally when someone is talking about a man bun wearing hipster they're talking about millennials. The upside of them is they tend to be more socially aware. Unfortunately in this case the protagonist was a bun wearing hipster who is also misogynistic narcissist. I understand the necessity of having a less-than-perfect hero so there's room for growth throughout the story. For me there wasn't enough. I really did not like him and would not have cared if he had been killed in a big plot twist that revealed someone else as the protagonist. By the end he went from being a hundred percent a****** to maybe 90% a******. I really think the author missed the mark with this character and I thought he was very lacking. If it hadn't been for good writing and an engaging plot I would never have finished reading this book. I'm not likely to recommend it to anyone I know.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!
Funny, witty, highly unpredictable! This book was a joyride all along, I loved every page of it! I really don't understand why it doesn’t have more stars! I guess second degree is for imaginative persons only...

5.0 out of 5 stars Was glued
So different to anything I’ve read, couldn’t put it down. Loved the narrative in the main characters thoughts. So worth a read and I bought it thinking it was a chick lit book 😂

4.0 out of 5 stars Kept on entertaining.
This book just kept giving any giving. Raucous encounters with a plethora of characters. The Zombies part is just exquisite. I eagerly await more. Thanks Christian.

5.0 out of 5 stars It’s better to travel than to arrive.
Like Ben, I have had my share of nightmare journeys; both to and from the office. I have travelled in the days before mobile phones and clearly recall the queues snaking back from the public phone box outside the railway station. And this was in the days of slam door trains. Remember them? No Uber back then and no Add Lee. In that respect, I think Ben could have fallen back on some corporate assistance, but then, had he done so, we would have been robbed of a very amusing tale.
Ben needs to get from Croydon to Tottenham. It’s his sister’s wedding in Paris the next day so there’s an incentive right there. But events are against him. I liked the simplicity of the plot and the author’s ability to keep the pace going in what is a road trip with added hazards. Wonderful characters, snappy dialogue and situations that will resonate with any battle hardened commuters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Downright funny!
This book had me laughing out loud.
The protagonist has a sarcastic wit that had me chuckling all the way through.
The absurd situations Ben finds himself in while he tries to get home from Croydon to North London with no public transport is genius.
From the thugs, to the zombies, to the oddball companions he picks up along the way.
It's an entertaining and engaging adventure of persistence against all the odds.
And downright funny too!
