DISAPPEARING ACT: A Fossil, Colorado Book (#2) (Fossil, Colorado Books) Kindle Edition
Fossil, Colorado is Georgie’s destination, but she takes a wrong turn and ends up in a creek, only to be rescued by Brant Ward, who doesn’t quite know what to make of her. Georgie prefers men from a distance, but circumstances have taken that away from her and she’s forced to reveal her past to Brant. The more untangled her family dynamics become, the more twisted they get. When the ultimate secret is revealed, it’s almost incomprehensible, though it answers so many questions. It also raises a new one—will Georgie and Brant survive the evil twosome pursuing them?

About the author

Ann Simas lives in Oregon, but she is a Colorado girl at heart, having grown up in the Rocky Mountains. She has been an avid reader since childhood and penned her first fiction "book" in high school. She particularly likes to write mystery/suspense/thriller with a love story and paranormal or supernatural elements. She is a three-time RWA Golden Heart Finalist. Simas currently has 42 books in print. All are available in both paperback and in ebook format.
An award-winning watercolorist and a budding photographer, Ann also enjoys needlework and gardening in her spare time. She is her family's "genealogist" and has been blessed with the opportunity to conduct first-hand research in Italy for both her writing and her family tree. The genealogy research from decade's old documents in Italian, she says, has been a supreme but gratifying challenge.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 7, 2020Disappearing Act by Ann Simas is the second book set in Fossil, Colorado. It's always good to see people from previous stories and how their lives intertwine. This is an excellent read. Ann's characters are relatable and personable. Enjoy!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 1, 2021Mara Flynn has been on the run from her sadistic step-brother, Joel, for 8 years. Her latest move is taking her to Fossil, Colorado, a small Rockie Mountain town that she has chosen by looking at a map. Now going by the name Georgie, she quickly finds herself in trouble after landing in a creek during a snowstorm.
Brant Ward is staying at a friend's cabin and happens to hear Georgie's crash. He soon rescues her and brings her into his cabin. Georgie is obviously scared to death of something and Brant has to figure out how to befriend her since there is no way out of the cabin for a week.
This book turned into more of a romance than I was expecting, but there was plenty of suspense as well. Georgie learns more and more about Joel and her equally evil sister, Dot, as she tries to figure out how to continue to hide from them. Joel seems to have tracked her down and she is desperate to run away again. But, with her growing love for Brant, she doesn't see how she can do that, either.
The book was well written and the twists and turns kept me guessing up until the very end of the book. My main complaint with the book would be that there were way too many coincidences throughout the book for it to seem realistic. Still, it was entertaining and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys the romantic suspense genre. Just be warned that the romance aspect plays a pretty big part of the book.
I was given the chance to read this book through the Candid Book Review group and chose to review it.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 4, 2020A great addition to her books that I've read already. Was not disappointed when I picked this novel up to read. It's long, but very worth the read and time. It has everything you'd want in a book. And will sweep you up in just the first chapter.
Georgie aka Mara is on the run. She's been on the road for years. Moving around from place to place trying to stay ahead of the psycho people and a haunting past she left behind. But everything will eventually catch up in due time. Only will she be strong enough to take the offered hands to help her out of the mess she is in?
- Reviewed in the United States on July 18, 2020You are not going to want to put this book down! Disappearing Act is a page turner from the beginning of the story until the happily-ever-after at the end. You meet many interesting characters however, the two main characters Brant and Georgie are super easy to fall in love with. Georgie is so smart, proud, and incredibly strong. The pain and loss she endures and survives through is commendable. Brant...fun-loving, protective, sexy, and family-oriented. Together they discover happiness and a love that neither thought was possible.
This story kept me guessing and wishing...and hoping. I would definitely recommend this book!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 1, 2020I really enjoy this author's books. She draws me into her world quickly and keeps me there until the very end. I liked the main characters in this book. I, of course, hated the "villains" in the story. I though they were especially detestable. They were immoral, crazy, and very unlikable. She did a good job at making them that way. This was a long book but I didn't notice that because the plot moved along at a steady pace. It is well worth the read and I would recommend it to others. I will continue to read books by this author in the future.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 23, 2020When I get the chance and see one of this author's books I try and get my nose into it. I missed the first one of this series but I still had to venture in none the less. How could you know that making a wrong turn would turn out to a start of being turned upside down. Georgie and Brant give us quite the adventure in this. You are there as things become unraveled. Oh what a twist was weaved but now it just got twisted another way.You flip the pages but you seem like you have just entered into a drama that has no ending but that is how a author knows to keep us what where they want us. When you are finished a breath or two might be needed.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 6, 2020This was a great read. It is the second in the series. It was well thought out and read smooth. It took you through ups and down with the characters and the plot line. This is my first book by this author and I recommend her book to all. I loved the characters. Very well done, worth the read.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 2, 2020This was a good book. I always enjoy reading Ann Simas books, you never know what you are going to get. Georgia is on the run then fate puts her where she needs to be, found by Brant.
