3.8 out of 5 stars 7 ratings

After another booze binge, journalist Dean Sharp wakes to find the world has changed. He is trapped in his home, while outside the city is burning and in the streets people are killing each other in wanton acts of violence. Isolated and alone, Dean must face his own demons as he tries to make sense of events that have an odd familiarity about them. Soon he will question if the terrible dreams plaguing his sleep are the result of alcohol addiction or memories of a past he is not meant to remember. The present is an endless nightmare of slaughter and madness. And the future of all mankind hangs in the balance.

I have to say i have read some of the reviews and i don't think some people have read the book. This is an amazing new type of horror and not a zombie book but a new breed of horror but without giving the game away the infected are more like 28 weeks later then zombies so living diseased humans. It is a fast paced book that has a great way of keeping you reading and not wanting to put the book down until you finish it. My girlfriend read this and doesn't like horror but was so amazed had to kept reading and the book made her happy, sad and she nearly vomited twice as the gore is that graphic. This is the first in a new series of horror and each novel will also be made into a film in the future. So have a read of the sample and get a copy today.

First, let me say that by title, description and cover image, I assumed this would be a zombie book. The first part of the book even starts off as a zombie story, but it soon gets derailed. There are very strange flashbacks which eat up large portions of the book and are of no value to a customer who wants a zombie survival story.

Second, the writing is excellent. The author clearly knows what he's doing. I give him high marks for his writing skills.

Third, even if you buy the book for the story itself, (Instead of zombie stuff) the main character is not very likable. He's an extreme alcoholic who does selfish and stupid things, it's very hard to relate to him or feel sorry for him.

And finally, I didn't finish this book. This is the first time I've written a review without 100% completion. I just gave up on it at about 60% on my Kindle. It completely lost my interest, and I found myself skimming, trying to figure out when the story will stop doing its strange flashbacks and return to the main story.

I'm rating this book a 3 out of 5. For the price and the actual writing, it's a 5 star book. But, I'm rating it based on what I thought it was: A zombie survival story. The side story arcs are not my cup of tea, but others may find it entertaining. Of what little zombie action I saw, it was quite good. Unfortunately the story took a left turn and never came back to the zombies until long after I'd stopped caring.

This book is written well enough but for me the story moved too slowly and I felt no connection with the main character and just wanted to tell him to grow a pair and shape up.

The concept was an interesting one but I found that the author spent too much time on meaningless context and not enough time on tying up loose ends. I also think that he used way too many illustrations/references that distracted from the story rather than adding to it.

    WOW!!

Such a gripping read. I was hooked from start to end with twists and turns at every corner. Slipping fowards and backwards through time the story travels at a fast pace!

This one novel made me cry, laugh and feel nauseated!! Descriptions are vivid and storyline is epic.

A MUST read!! I loved every page! :)
