WHY C. G. COOPER MATTERS
Fiction has the power to change lives.
Pay a visit to Cooper Country and you’ll understand why. With his unique voice and flair for creating characters you’d love to hang out with, C. G. Cooper imparts every one of his novels with messages that perfectly illuminate what Faulkner called, “the human heart in conflict with itself.” In them, characters confront hard truths about life, the necessity of war, the military industrial complex, and why and how good men and women die.
But there are messages within the messages.
There is the power of the individual to triumph over evil against overwhelming odds; the struggle of good people against their inner demons; there is brotherhood, family, the discovery of allies in unexpected places, struggles with faith; there is community; there is authenticity; Cooper’s heart is on every page, beating hard and fast through action and moments of tenderness alike.
Expect high-octane action, slow-burn thrills, and gut-wrenching drama. Expect the ultimate conflict of the human heart.
This is Cooper Country. Lives will change.
THE LOWDOWN
Drawing on his days as an infantry officer in the United States Marine Corps—a stint that came on the heels of a degree in foreign affairs from UVA—Cooper sifted his experience through his vivid imagination and created Corps Justice, the first novel in the beloved Corps Justice series. Thus, a band of characters was born that would go on to enthrall readers throughout 17 novels and counting. With more than 2 million book downloads and multiple appearances in the Amazon Top 100, C. G. Cooper remains one of the most successful USA TODAY and Amazon best-selling authors.
In 2020, he won the prestigious James Webb Award presented by the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation for his novel Chain of Command.
In addition to bouncing around the country in search of the perfect vacation (turns out, it is anywhere with his family), Cooper has called Nashville home ever since his final Marine duty station. When not enjoying the laid-back lifestyle of Music City, he’s doing his best to add more novels to the growing list at cg-cooper.com.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2014Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAnother good one from Cooper.
This one starts with Cal Stokes jogging. He jogs right on over to a guy he's met everytime he's jogged this route. Monsoor is his name. Cal has stopped an spoken to him many times.
Monsoor thinks the good looking America is his friend. Monsoor doesn't know that Cal knows he's a jihadist and Cal's only marking time with Mansoor to learn what he can. Monsoor thinks Cal is gay. Not hardly but then Cal will go to any lengths to remove this peice of crap from the landscape. Which he does.
After killing Monsoor, his bodyguard and good friend Daniel Briggs joins him.
Cal is still amused about those thinking he needs a body guard. He's more than capable of taking care of himself. A fact he's proved more than once.
Briggs is a good friend though and he and Cal head to a meeting with the POTUS. A meeting the president has been trying to set up for months. A meeting that Cal wasn't in the mood to attend. Cal has no love for any politician but he finally agrees to the meeting.
At the meeting Cal is advised that the POTUS wants to clean up Washington. He wants to honor his campaign promise. He also knows someone is trying to sabatage what he's trying to do. He'd like Cal's help to make good on his promise and figure out who the sabateur is.
Cal has no use for politicians. Men who, if they were employed in the private sector, would be fired for the bs they pull and the money they waste. Nope. These guys wouldn't last ten seconds in any major company and Cal has utter disrespect for the lot of them. His marine buddies and SSI employees are twice the men these idiots are and way more trustworthy
Cal also has no use for some of the Americans of today. Americans that have no problem being supported by tax dollars. Americans who are all about me, me and me.
While there Cal's old friend Brandon Zimmer, a newly elected Democrate from MA arrives. Cal and he catch up and they then get the news that the Vice President has been killed and the FL has been wounded in an explosion.
So begins one pretty damned good read.
This one has crooked Govt officials, bombs, murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, an ingenious plan, friends, comrades, traitors and Cal Stokes and SSI in the middle of it all.
This one also has an ending I never expected. One good read.
I'm waiting for the next one. Five Stars.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 2, 2013Format: KindleVerified PurchaseDid I spell Clancy right?
Well, it took Tom awhile to become the great author he is today, and I believe this author will need to work and develop before he can attain Tom Clancy's stature, the respect and notoriety we all have for the man.
This is a political novel. l won't say thriller because I was never on the edge of my seat, but there was backstabbing; there were turnovers; plans were made that took generations to accomplish and yet there was no hurry.
The plans actually began shortly after VJ day, Victory in Japan. WWII didn't end all at once, you know. First there was Victory in Europe, then Victory in Japan. Since Japan hadn't signed the Geneva Convention and treated prisoners of war worse than ¿*¢* many more prisoners of war lost their lives due to torture, strange diseases and lack of food.
Truthfully, most Japanese soldiers ate only a little better than their prisoners did.
This book talks about a group of Japanese officers who would have been tried for their war crimes, for getting their jollies by playing Marquis de Sade with prisoners. They changed their names and got away with it for many, many years.
After the war these men continued to meet together because they had only one thing on their minds: REVENGE.
When they grew too old to accomplish this themself they passed their goal to their sons. As these sons grew older....aw, you get the idea.
One of these sons, Ishi, has gone to Harvard with a U.S. Senator's son, Brad. Ishi's family is very wealthy, having made their money in electronics and gaming. Ishi invites Brad to spend some time at his family's hotel in Las Vegas, all for free. After all they're buddies.
Brad wakes up the next morning covered in blood with a dismembered blond next to him. She WAS just his type. Brad doesn't remember a thing. Ishi tells Brad not to worry, he'll take care of everything.
Little does Brad know that this is just one time out of many that an influential person has been caught in a compromising position while several Asians walk around snapping photo after photo to document it.
Nor does Brad know his father is involved in a group of veterans, mostly
ex-Marines, who have worked together to prevent Americans from being harmed.
Sure the armed forces fight America's wars, but who defends a single American when only a handful of people from another country gangs up on him.
Little does this Council of Patriots know that more than one person is being picked on and more than a handful are creating the harm. By the end of the book...why should I spoil it.
This book moves slowly at first. There's a twist at the ending...dang, the last three books I've read have had a twist at the end. This one hit so hard I thought I was going to get whiplash.
It will be interesting to see the council ride again.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 16, 2025Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI had read these books a few years ago, but didn't remember the author. Found them again the other day and haven't put them down yet.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseA number of former and current high-ranking politicians have formed a Council of Patriots to help ensure America’s safety and protect this country they love.
The Council decides to work with Cal Stokes and Stokes Security International [SSI]. SSI forms a covert branch of the company that interfaces with the President and the Council.
SSI gets involved with a Japanese multi billionaire who plans to put his puppet into the office of President so he can return Japan to its glory days.
Join Cal and the team as they go to the Democratic Convention in Las Vegas to try and find and fix the corruption.
There are many twists and turns as the story unfolds. Read along and join the adventure. I think you will really enjoy this book, I know I did!!

- Reviewed in the United States on June 22, 2018Format: KindleVerified PurchaseA group of former important, high-ranking politicians have formed the Council of Patriots to protect America... Cal Stokes and members of SSI go to Las Vegas on a mission...
This story is fast-paced, adrenaline-fueled and full of in-your-face action. You get to see into the hearts and minds of some very patriotic Americans, as well as enemies who will stop at nothing to get what they want. There is evil in politics and especially in politicians who want to rule the world. Then there are good men and women who continue to protect America long after their military obligations have been fulfilled. This book has all of that and more!
The second book in the Corps Justice Series is even better than the first and I have high hopes for the rest. I look forward to reading them all — as well as the Daniel Briggs books.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very good sequel.
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseCouncil of Patriots (Book 2 of the Corps Justice Series) I suppose it is fair to say that I didn't enjoy this as much as Book 1 in the series but I think that MAY be down to the fact that Book 1 was VERY good. The writing style flows nicely, the new characters fit into the story nicely and are believable, even the technology is believable.
Despite saying I didn't enjoy it as much as Book 1 I do want to see then next in the series as soon as possible.
