About the author

In the summer of 2017, Carol Thomas was delighted to gain a publishing contract with award-winning publishers Choc Lit (Joffe Books). She has subsequently gained best-seller badges for The Purrfect Pet Sitter and Maybe Baby, both books in the Lisa Blake series, and A Summer of Second Chances.
Carol writes for both adults and children: Her contemporary romance novels have relatable heroines whose stories are layered with emotion, sprinkled with laughter and topped with irresistible male leads, while her children's books have irresistibly cute, generally furry characters young children can relate to.
Carol Thomas lives on the south coast of England with her husband, four children and adorable Labrador. She has been a school teacher for over twenty years. Carol has a passion for reading, writing and people-watching and can often be found loitering in local cafes, working on her next book.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 22, 2025I have been going through a phase of being totally captivated by the marriage in trouble trope books. This was a rec (in a Facebook group) that I had never heard of and an author I never read. I jumped in never expected to be drawn in and engaged but I found the writing style just entrapped me and put me through such a gamut of emotions. While I would have liked more details on the affair portion and Simons reasoning the rest of this story more than made up for it. Parts of this had me sad, others made me smile, and others had my heart racing and I broke out in a sweat from the intensity of my feelings. I don't write reviews often, but felt compelled to point out this gem. I love a book the puts me through the experience and this one surely did that!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2016Crazy Over You by Carol Thomas was a thoroughly enjoyable, well put-together novel, focusing on one woman's journey to put herself back together again after the shocking betrayal of her husband. Real, down to earth and wholly satisfying, Crazy Over You portrayed brilliantly the inner turmoil of Abby, and alongside a multitude of other fantastic characters, it was a story of hope, moving on, and returning to the confident, life-loving woman Abby had once been. It was wonderful.
As soon as the story begins, Carol Thomas gets right to the nitty-gritty. Late at night with only her thoughts and the internet for company, it becomes quite clear that Abby is more than a little obsessed with searching out the woman her husband had an affair with. But I, as well as Abby, knew that the late-night internet sessions were getting rather out of hand, and it was time for her to try and let go of the hurt and the pain, no matter how hard it may have proved to be. Although the premise of Crazy Over You by Carol Thomas may have been used plenty of times before, I felt that there was something unique about this story. Through the use of internet forums, finding other people who had been through the same thing, and inspirational quotes scribbled into her notebook, Abby begins to find her way forward and realises that perhaps it's not the end of her after all...
Warm, witty and amusing, Abby's journey towards figuring out a path was a wonderful story, one full of entertainment, blossoming companionship and the revealing of some pretty surprising truths. Alongside Brad, who admits that he is more than willing to pick up the slack from Simon, and who is also utterly cheeky and charming, Abby takes on brand new challenges and opportunities which end up highlighting a version of herself that she never even knew existed. It was heart-warming to say the least, and Carol's writing opened up Abby to the reader on a much deeper level. I adored seeing the transformation in Abby's character, loved watching her become this stronger woman as she went at life with both hands and, for the first time, threw caution to the wind. She'd had her heart broken and Carol handed me those emotions perfectly. I felt torn for Abby, because whenever Simon made an appearance in this novel, it was quite clear that he had been the love of her life. As their history was told to me in the most tender of ways, I could almost feel the shock of the betrayal. It was agonising, and I wanted nothing more than for Abby to get through it. Though the road ahead of her was rocky and full of pot-holes, I felt that if she got her thoughts into order, she'd be more than capable of making it to the other side. Carol's creation of Abby's character was brilliant, I felt incredibly close to her and wanted nothing but the best to go her way.
Overall, I really enjoyed Crazy Over You by Carol Thomas. Written so honestly and open, Carol has done a fantastic job of revealing the inner-workings of broken-hearted Abby to the reader. With an entertaining group of characters accompanying her along the way, it was fun, heartfelt, and packed with amusing shenanigans that really put Abby to the test. I was anticipating the ending and was kept wondering how Carol would close Abby's story, because I really didn't know which direction she'd take. I was kept guessing and loved it.
Becca's Books is awarding Crazy Over You by Carol Thomas with four stars! A gorgeous story full of hope, strength, and marching onwards, no matter what knocks you down along the way. I'd like to thank the author Carol Thomas, for providing me with a copy of Crazy Over You in exchange for a fair and honest review.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 1, 2021Stories about the aftermath of infidelity can be undeniably painful to read. This one definitely had you in tears with empathy for the h's pain but also left me rooting for her as she grew and healed. The story was very thoughtful and well told. This was my first book by this author. I can't wait to explore further!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 7, 2015**I was given an e-copy by NetGalley to review**
Abby is married to Simon and after so many years together, she just found out he had an affair. I think it's important to mention that it lasted a week while he was in DC. The story takes place in...well...Great Britain. She has rightfully thrown him out and is trying to get herself back from the edge. She starts flirting with Brad from work, the sexy PE teacher. Oh, lest I forget, Simon and her have 2 little girls.
So, once she starts flirting and then Simon is pushing to prove his love and regret, you just know it's going to be messy. I didn't want her to get with Brad because that's just unhealthy after a long marriage. No way does that translate into happily ever after. And I didn't want her to get back with Simon either, as it was a week long!!! It's not like he made this little one time slip, he kept going for a WEEK!!!
I really was hooked, Abby is a mess and you want to see her pull it together. I really couldn't put it down until the last couple chapters, and that ruined it. How do I do this without giving it away? I just felt it was too fast a wrap up to be realistic, and the writing slipped from easy reading to simplistic. I just felt she rushed to finish this book and completely lost her flow.
I don't regret reading it, but that ending needed more TLC.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 20, 2022Heroine needed to grow a backbone and leave her hubby and friend behind. Tired of reading about weak women taking their husbands back after cheating. Same old story different details.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 21, 2022This book really kept me captivated. I cried at the realness of it all. Infidelity is really a trial and can seem like an emotional burden to heavy to lift.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic debut book with relatable characters.
Carol writes in a style that is very engaging, written extremely well and is an easy read. Abby the main character, is a very loyal person and through the betrayal is full of questions about herself and life in general. Right from the start, you get a sense of Abby`s pain and confusion. The main characters are very strong and believable. When reading the book it's almost as if Abby becomes a friend as you get to know her so well and join her on a journey of rediscovery. I would imagine that anyone who has been betrayed would be able to identify strongly with Abby. You can feel her anxt, her confusion, her incredible sense of humour and her journey trying to get it right. Will she forgive Simon? Will she go out with Brad? Will she buy a sex toy? The story is not all serious, has a lighter side to it and a feel good factor. It's a great read even if you haven't been through an adulterous relationship. I would highly recommend it and I can't wait for Carols next book :)

This novel is a good read that draws you into the story in the first chapter. Carol Thomas has drawn a very real, sympathetic main character, Abby, who you quickly begin to care about. Abby's life is in shambles as she is trying to cope with the reality that her husband has had an affair. Abby loved her husband, believed in his love for her and their daughters. Suddenly her perfect life and family are destroyed. The story follows Abby's journey as she rebuilds her reality and her self confidence and even her own identity. The novel is both heart wrenching and then laugh-out loud funny at time. The author writes about real people in real situations and writes with compassion and understanding. The story takes a surprising twist near the end which will keep you reading enthusiastically to the last page.

4.0 out of 5 stars Crazy Over You—heart-warming and heart-wrenching!
Although aware that this book was probably written for women rather than men, I bought it because I saw a reference to it on a friend’s Facebook pages and I wondered how well she could write! I should add that I’ve tried writing fiction myself, so I’m well aware of the difficulties, especially for one’s first book.
I was impressed. It has the wealth of honesty and detail that comes from personal experience and, even if Carol has not gone through the troubles that beset Abby (her principal character), I suspect she has been close to someone who has! Written with the background of being a mother and a school teacher herself, her description of Abby’s day-to-day life will be recognised by almost every woman in the country. It is by turns amusing, full of insight, heart-warming and heart-wrenching. She has an excellent grasp of pace, motivation, description and dialogue that kept me glued to her story right through to the end.
The depth of Abby’s emotions and of her reaction to her husband’s infidelity came as something of a shock—many a husband will examine his memories and his conscience with trepidation. If the book has rather idealised—perhaps somewhat superficial—male characters (particularly as seen from Abby’s point of view), that’s not altogether surprising. It tends to reflect the cliché about men being from Mars and women from Venus—Jane Austin didn’t understand men, either.
I would certainly class this book as something much better than ‘chick-lit’—it’s a very promising novel as the start of what I hope will be more writing from this author. Despite being a mere male, I found it eye-opening, touching, romantic and gripping—a book I have no hesitation in recommending.
