I know for sure that no amount of praise words would do justice to this book, because it was absolutely PHENOMENAL!
When I started this book, I had in mind to read a few chapters before I leave for work, and then continue reading at night, when I came back home. But after the first chapter I was long gone. This book is so addictive, that I really had in mind to call in sick at work, because I couldn’t put the book down. I was already a fan of Michelle’s work, but this book was everything.
I completely lost myself in the book, the story is so captivating and inviting, is like stepping down the rabbit hole and never wanting to come out again. I loved every second of it, the action, the story, the writing and the characters. I was so happy when I found out that this book was going to be Lucian’s book, because I really wanted to find out more about him. There was something about him that cached my attention and made me even more curious about him.
This book was pure perfection. It was a phenomenal journey, the perfect recipe for success. This book has it all: action, an amazing plot, well written characters, the words choosing, everything. Even though it had it’s dark moments when I actually screamed at the book and wanted to send it flying across the room, and plenty of angst, this book is also edgy and steamy with the perfect ending.
I loved the Cotroni – Koslov team, they are powerful and deadly, but also, they are friends. And in their line of work, that is something that can’t be found so easily. Trust has to be earned. I really hope that I would get my wish, and Alexei Koslov will get his own book. I want and need to know more about him, that man is a mystery and has my complete attention. I need, I crave a book with him as the main character.
Elena Lucas, won my heart in a few seconds. Sometimes you read a character and you instantly wanna be their friend, and Elena is definitely one of those characters. I adored her.
I cried with her and for her, I screamed for her, and in the end I was so happy for her.
She is so strong, one of the strong heroines I’ve read, she had a horrible childhood and life, full of abuse and hatred, but still, she is good and kind. She still find the beauty in people and has the power to go on. After all that, she still has fire in her and wants to be free. She wants to fight for her happiness. She is broken, but still she has determination and fire in her.
I admired her strength, power and determination. This girl is a force of nature, she can be so fearful when the time asks for it, and would fight until her dying breath for what she believes.
Lucian Cotroni is strong, calculated, brutal and possessive, ruthless, a killing machine, the perfect head of the Mafia, all wrapped in the perfect disguise of an arrogant Italian God. For most, he is the monster in the dark, the man you should never cross, one of the most feared men.
He screams dark and dangerous, could kill you in seconds and without any effort, and has only one goal: to become the best head of the Mafia there is and to make his father proud. He was always cold, almost without any emotions or feelings, but that changes when he sets his eyes upon Elena. One glimpse is enough for him.
I breath and love Lucian, he is such a great and complex character. Incredible loyal, would always put in front of danger in order to keep his family safe and sound. He is an honorable man, lives after a code. I loved the scenes with him and Elena, he was so protective of her. Always cared for her and made sure she was safe and sound, out of harm way. He took care of her, never pushing her past her limits. He helped her overcome her fears and traumas, and made sure she saw her worth, she realized she was a queen among mortals.
The ending was so beautiful, it was perfect, checked all the important points, gave us a glimpse in the future and the life of this power couple, all leading to a conclusion. I need more, I crave more!
For sure, it is one of the best books I’ve read in the last years, and I can’t wait for more. I crave more and more. I am so excited for the next books in this series, counting the days until I can get my hands on them.

When I first began this book the blurb didn't have a warning attached to it and at the beginning of the book it had a message saying if you need a warning this book is not for you, I have read a ton of dark books and loved them and I have read quite a few of Michelle Heard's books and have enjoyed them immensely even the prior book MERCILESS SAINTS had this similar warning but it was nothing I couldn't handle so I proceeded. Well color me surprised when this book starts out with my one and only hard limit, right there in the first few pages. It's not a flashback which is a ton easier to deal with but it was right there happening in real time I was so surprised and socked I wasn't sure if I wanted to continue the book but I did and in the end I am glad I did. St. Monarch's Academy is a place where all organized crime family's can send their children once they turn twenty-one to gain some additional training that will help them in the world in which they live. It is considered to be neutral ground and the school has one policy, no one is to kill another student on their grounds. Cruel Saints is Elena Lucas' and Lucian Catroni's story. Elena is finally getting what she wants, some freedom from the hell she's been living, her father is sending her to St. Monarch's Academy to learn everything she can about taking over the "family business." Lucian has been studying at St. Monarch's and is almost ready to leave when he meets the beautiful Elena. Do sparks fly? Heck yeah they do. Lucian and Elena have an instant connection but Elena is very wary and has every reason to be but, Lucian has become instantly protective of her and has now made it his mission to make sure no one ever hurts her again. This was a hard read for me at the beginning but once Elena turned twenty-one and left for school I was able to get into the story more easily. I totally loved Lucian and the way he felt for Elena upon meeting her even before he knew any of her story. Elena and Lucian were great together, I wish we had more of their story from the arraigned marriage on, I'd love to see how they grow together. I am hoping they will pop up in some of the future books from St. Monarch's Academy. I would recommend this to readers that enjoy DARK Romances, though this is deemed a romantic suspense I would put it under Dark Romance due to it's content. Happy Reading!!!
