Centuries before Dark Root...
A once peaceful land is besought with unrest, as The Great Sickness spreads its malignant vines across towns and villages. Suspicion reigns, as neighbor fears neighbor, and The Church searches for the root of the plague, and a scapegoat.
As the dead accumulate, a verdict is delivered: witchcraft is to blame.
In a sudden upheaval, the once revered Keepers-of-the-Old-Ways are vilified and hunted, as a new consciousness sweeps across the world—
Submit to the new ways, or perish.

I was enraptured from page one. It flowed nicely and brought back the story I have fallen in love with. I am excited to see what Morgan decides to do in the next books.

It's hard to really know what I think of this book. It didn't really make sense until the last few chapters. The first bit of the book kind of meandered and I had a hard time staying engaged. I am debating if I want to read the second.

I received an ARC for an honest review.

Another beautifully written story within the world of Dark Root. This book takes us back before Maggie and her sisters, introducing us to Morgan and her quest to stay ahead of the people that are hunting her.

I love how April Aesheim has not only created an amazing world around the lore of Dark Root but keeps adding to the story with indepth characters. This book brings the same sense of magic and wonder to a new set of characters within the Dark Root history. Love it!

I began my journey with the witches of Dark Root series and fell in love with April's writing, characters, and their stories! I love that they are included in the kindle owners library. These stories are all magical, suspenseful, and exciting! The Alchemy of a Witch part one is absolutely amazing, telling part of story the story of Morgan. I can't wait to find out what happens next!
