Dads with Benefits (Fairview Single Dads Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 944 ratings

ELLIS:

There’s a new single dad in the group, and he wants more than just support.

I’ve got problems on the job, but I’m in luck: the new dad at my support group is exactly who I need. James is sympathetic when I tell him my boss won’t stop coming on to me. I’m up for a huge promotion, and I need help. Maybe a fake relationship will make my boss back off.

But when James offers to be my pretend boyfriend, I’m forced to start thinking about romance again. Acting is one thing, but I don’t do real relationships, and besides, he’s straight—or so he says. This relationship was supposed to be just one dinner, but we’re getting closer than I expected.

Straight men make the perfect fake boyfriends, but I’m not sure if we’re pretending.

JAMES:

It’s my first day in the single dad support group, and the single part is already at risk.

I came to this group for advice on single parenting, but Ellis has more to offer. He’s a good dad being harassed by his all-too-forward boss, so naturally I want to help. I’m straight, so it doesn’t bother me that he needs a pretend boyfriend.

But faking it turns out to be harder than I realized, especially when I get to know him better. He’s completely charming, and irresistible to boot. I want to veer off the straight and narrow with Ellis, but his past is holding him back. I’m falling for him, and I’m not sure how much longer I can pretend.

Our kids are playing matchmakers, and this fake relationship is starting to feel real.

This is the first book in the Fairview Single Dads series. It can be enjoyed as a standalone with no cliffhanger. Readers can expect a spicy MM romance with several steamy scenes.

A Dads Series
This is single dads Ellis and James's story who meet at a local Single Dad group. This story starts out when James offers to help Ellis be a fake boyfriend for him. Sometimes I wanted to hit Ellis over the head and tell him to accept the love from James. I found this story quiet good and am looking forward to more in this series.

Terrific new book by Jason. This is a gay-for-you, second chance romance and it is very well written. I liked James. He doesn’t struggle with his attraction to Ellis, nor does he hide it from his son or ex-wife. Ellis, on the other hand, is very damaged by his parents’ volatile marriage and wants nothing to do with a relationship. Neither can help falling for the other. James gives Ellis room to come to him on his own terms but boy is it a long journey. The hot and cold from Ellis gave me emotional whiplash at times. I liked that both of the kids are interesting side characters that add to the story but don’t overpower it.

Compelling story-line about loving and learning that you can love and be loved. I enjoyed the characters and the story kept me engaged!  The author's writing flowed and i so enjoyed these characters.

Ellis and James were really likable and i quickly fell into the story. I loved their journey to trust and love.  They were both authentic and watching Ellis learning to let go of his past perceptions of a relationship was touching.

This is book one of the Fairview Single Dads series and i am so looking forward to the next book!

James is a single divorced dad. He and his ex-wife have joint custody of their eight year old son Brandon. He has recently joined a single dads group. He is attending his first meeting, where he meets Ellis.

Ellis is the single dad of his six year old daughter Sarah. He and James hit it off at once. Ellis has a problem. His boss’s son is sexually harassing him. He finally makes up a boyfriend to put Ian off. He tells James about it while he is looking on his phone to find someone willing to be his fake boyfriend. James then offers to be his fake boyfriend. Will this remain a fake relationship?

The story itself was cute, the concept, the plot was great. However, there were a lot of typos and repeated sentences, and I usually don’t care about it, as long as I understand what’s going on, but this ones made me confuse every time.

Have to say upfront, blame how long it took me to read this totally on me. Between an entirely too busy schedule and my attention span shrunk to practically nothing, despite this book be all kinds of wonderful reading it took forever. I fell in love with these two MCs practically on page one. I mean what is there not to love about two wonderful single dads who turn out to be just right for one another. Also the author's handling of the two kids felt spot on and very genuine. His use of Ian as a villain at was also very well done, making him more than just one-dimensional. Overall, the author has once again produced a highly enjoyable awesome read!

This author has written another romance that hit all my pleasure points! This story is about 2 single dads, Ellis and James, that meet at a single dads support group. Ellis needs a fake boyfriend to attend his business social events mainly to keep his boss’s son at arms length and James fit the bill. I knew where this story was headed, but it was the journey that kept me captivated. At times I wanted to take Ellis aside and talk some sense into him. At other times I wanted to tell James....well actually, read the story yourself, lol. All in all, I’m never disappointed when it comes to this author’s romantic tales. This is one of my faves of his. Absolutely loved it.

Even though I received an arc for review, I bought the ebook because I love supporting this author’s talent.

Very good book about two single dads connecting with each other.

Very well written, the flow and pacing are good. The characters are easily believable and I loved the kids.

There were two areas that left me confused as there was a time-jump that happened without any explanation back to what just happened. They were minor but were jarring at the time. Aside from that, the story flowed extremely well.

Looking forward to checking out more books from this author. This was the first one of his that I read.

    Thank you!

The premise is a truce and tested romance trope with the addition of kids. However the book needed some editing.

Repetitions of words from sentence to sentence made it hard to let the prose flow. At one point the word 'shaft' appeared so often I was expecting to break into the song.

I was also thrown by the term p-spot instead of prostate, which again was overused in one scene.

Continuity of actions was poor and the descriptions of interactions were lacking. It made for understanding a scene difficult. At well over 50% through the book I couldn't confidently tell you what each main character looked like. I

With a few rounds of editing i think this would make a pleasant read.

This is a hot and sweet love story. I really enjoyed the dynamics between James and Ellis, but their kids were my favourite. So cute!
