In these letters, Lenny gives the enemy misleading information about allied plans. Once Natasha arrives in London, he takes her for a ride on his Harley throughout England, from the White Cliffs of Dover to a village near an underground ammunition depot in Staffordshire. When they were apart, Natasha longed for him. Now, he misses her. "I gather her gently into my arms, holding her like a breath."

Story Falling in love with Lenny should have been the end to all of Anita's troubles. For her, it's only the beginning, when family secrets start unravelling. His ex-wife, Natasha, is succumbing to a mysterious disease. Can Anita compete with her shadow? Coming back to his childhood home, Ben is unprepared for the secret: his mother, Natasha, who used to be a brilliant pianist, is losing herself to mysterious disease. His father’s new wife, Anita, reminds him of the way she used to look. Lenny goes as far back as the moment he met Natasha during WWII, when he was a wounded warrior and she—a star, brilliant yet illusive. Natasha was a riddle to him then, and to this day, with all the changes she has gone through, she still is. Fooling German espionage may cost Lenny the trust of the girl who captured his heart. Will Natasha discover his secret D-Day reports, disguised as love letters to another woman? After D-Day, her photograph appears on the most-wanted German propaganda posters. Who is the girl with the red beret? Why does she step into his life when he is led by SS soldiers to the gallows? What makes her propose marriage to a condemned man?

Dancing with Air is an incredibly well-written, well-researched historical tale that takes place in the WWII era. Surprisingly, the author weaves music throughout the story in a beautiful, enticing way that added a whole new dimension and made it more enjoyable.
A lovely passage - He will be running his fingers down, all the way down to the small of my back, touching his lips to my ear, breathing his name, breathing mine… here I am, dancing with air…
I liked the two main characters, Lenny and Natasha, and felt very sad for Lenny when it became clear he was losing her to a horrible illness, though her body was there beside him. Ms. Poznansky, a master in story-telling, developed the plot in such a way that it kept my interest from page one until the very end. I also appreciated the well-phrased descriptions, especially while in London - in fact all my senses were drawn in as the author created this intrigue. Danger, deception and romance are woven together perfectly and will keep you turning the pages… captivated.

U.S. Marine Lenny has been dispatched to London, having left his love Natasha back in the states. In his original assignment he works as a currier. After serving in this role for a time Lenny's commanding officer calls him in and prepares Lenny for a new assignment. By this time Lenny has learned Natasha, a virtuoso pianist, is coming to England to entertain the troops. The story is set in the months before D-Day.

Lenny is now in a predicament. His assignment is to seed love letters to a girlfriend with hints that General Patton and an invasion force plan to invade Europe at the closest point between England and Europe, Pas de Calais in NW France. Natasha gets to spend some time with Lenny which places him in a predicament. He must write the misleading love stories to a girl he knows in the states, maintain an apparent sincerity while avoiding Natasha's scrutiny.

Lenny convinces his commander that he should have the freedom to travel through the area he's assigned to write about. He's given permission and brings Natasha along riding in the sidecar of his Harley-Davidson. During his travel to the Straights of Dover he discovers elements of truth to enhance the realism in his letters to the girl in the states. He learns more details about the diversionary plan.
When Lenny takes some time to investigate an ammunition storage area for the Allies his trip is cut short.
The ammunition storage area or depot explodes almost costing Lenny his life.

It takes a long time for Lenny to come around from an apparent coma. Afraid that Natasha may have discovered his letters while incapacitated, he soon learns of Natasha's deep love for him.

This is a heart warming story, a continuation of a thought provoking family saga while observing Natasha's mental decline in her later years.
Uvi Poznansky is a gifted writer who has painted warm yet realistic saga. I strongly recommend it.

This is a powerful, passionate and poignant story of eternal love between Lenny and Natasha. It begins with memory problems that Natasha is having in 1970 and Lenny being her caregiver. Tests have been ordered to ascertain the depth of her problems. From there, the reader is invited into the intense times during WW II while Lenny was stationed in the UK - London as a military courier.

Natasha is a brilliant concert pianist and volunteers with the USO to entertain the troops in the UK. She, of course, wants to be as close to Lenny as possible. This book covers the gamut of emotions that young lovers face during the early times in a relationship. While in Britain, they travel together to the White Cliffs of Dover on a Harley-Davidson. From there, Lenny delivers some courier mail to the RAF base at Fauld barely escaping a horrific disaster.

The imagery in this book is incredible and outstanding. From the songs that are in nearly every chapter to the Harley ride along the British landscape, all of it is done with magnificent strokes of the author's hand.

Anyone who has been involved in a passionate romance will be able to feel the power of the romance between these two lovers. 'Good times and bad times, we'll be there' keeps filtering through my head. One scene near the end of the book is powerful when Lenny and Natasha go to the beach at Santa Monica. The 'bluebirds' evoke memories of a time long ago despite having a significant loss of memory. And, that is exactly how the human mind works in a sickness such as that which has inflicted Natasha. The sensuous nature of the love between Natasha and Lenny is intertwined throughout which, for me, intensified their relationship for many years.. 'Power of our passion...such is hope'.

One other thing I truly enjoyed in addition to the music was the descriptions of items not available during WW II. One was Uncle Sam limiting the hems on women's garments and not having any cuffs on them. The description of Mrs. Babcock's tin safe for meat storage was fascinating to me, as well.

    Most highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Uvi is pointing us to the tiny spark of the stars, the carbon, in all of us.

Uvi Poznanski never disappoints. Her books are art. Whenever I want to take' time out' from the profanities of life, the ordinary, I am reading and
re-reading her books. I never thought, I was into WWII love stories but, Uvi Poznanski has proven me wrong! She is a great writer. I am sucking up every word of hers; she has captured my heart with her art of writing. Unusual writing; and, I've never been one into biblical characters! It took me time to get into her books but, it was worth it! Whatever Uvi Poznanski is writing, it all is art! It is captivating. You know about the fine, filigrane strokes of a brush, the airy colours of paintings, sculptures taking form of what is mere profane structure in the eye of the every-day- beholder: She is giving soul to it! Uvi Poznanski is an artist, a writer - but, her writing is art! Art as a filigrane and subtle playing with words, yet powerful! So powerful! I strongly recommend her books to the searchers of souls and the human heart. I recommend her books to all those who are searching for 'just the little bit more' in a story. The believers in art as a from of expressing the tiny spark of the stars, the carbon, in all of us.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dancing with Air "choked me like a lump of unshed tears.”
Reviewed in Germany on January 15, 2017
I have read a lot of Uvi Poznansky’s books in fact I have read everything she has written. I first became a fan after reading snippets of her work online. Her romantic disposition and luxuriant style of prose left an indelible mark upon me. A comfortable one that I didn't want to let fade. Luckily her stories and the characters within them stay with the reader long after the final page.

Dancing with Air is the forth instalment from her series entitled Still Life with Memories. Reading it transported me back in time and, to a place I am familiar with, England and London. It is clear that her research of 1940s fashion, music and general attitudes is thorough. This shows in her work and is perhaps what makes it easy to fall back into the world she has created with ease. After reviewing so many of Uvi Poznansky's books I find it hard not to repeat myself. Often I’m not sure what to praise, the writer or the words. So this review is a bit of both. If you are considering reading her work, consider no longer.

The last chapter in Dancing with Air is particularly poignant. To quote Uvi Poznansky herself, it "choked me like a lump of unshed tears.”
