Dare to Risk it All (Daring Daughters Book 7) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 842 ratings

Their mothers dared all for love.
Just imagine what their daughters will do...

A Magnet for Trouble…
When Greer Cadogan goes to her sister’s Christmas House party, she is all agog to meet the wicked Raphe Coote, Baron de Ligne. Raphe is her brother-in-law, the Viscount Roxborough’s best friend. The sinfully handsome baron is rusticating in the countryside at Rowsley Hall after sinking into a pit of vice so deep he nearly didn’t climb out again.
Much to Greer’s disappointment, the baron has turned over a new leaf, sworn off his wicked lifestyle and isn’t half so dreadful as she hoped he would be.

A Reformed Rake…
Raphe knows he has escaped a disgusting and ignoble end, carousing and drinking himself to death in London’s most sinful whore houses and gambling clubs, and has experienced a long overdue change of heart. His mentor, and the man he admires most in the world, Lord Rothborn, has given him an ultimatum—sort his life out, or Rothborn will wash his hands of him. Lord and Lady Rothborn are among the only people who ever gave a damn for Raphe, and for once in his misbegotten life, he
will not let them down.

Intent on keeping him on the path to redemption, Rothborn has warned Raphe to keep his hands—and every other part of his anatomy—off his host’s sister-in-law, who will spend the Christmas season with the rest of her family at Rowsley Hall.

An Irresistible Temptation…
Greer, however, has other plans. Though she admires Raphe’s desire to take himself in hand and become a useful human being, she sees no reason they ought not to be friends.
No matter how Raphe tries to keep away from the beguiling and mischievous Miss Cadogan, the dreadful creature hunts him down, and Raphe has never been much good at resisting temptation.

Greer truly did not intend to lead Baron de Ligne into just the sort of trouble he’d been trying so hard to avoid, but now she’s gone and done it.

And in the end, she really might have to risk it all for the man she has come to love.

Is listening to reason unreasonable…
Will they listen to their heart or others advises… I won’t repeat it again and again, but yes, I’m gonna repeat it. I have never enough of the author’s stories. Since I read the first book in the related series, each new one is marked like carved on my books or read calendar. I ‘m always running after my list of books to read, but for her, it is always cleared. It has been a few books since this romance has been brewing, everyone warning them to stay away for the other. So when they finally meet, it was a sure thing, sparks fly. Yet the seducer is not the profligate but the innocent maiden. Innocent in deeds maybe but not in thoughts. Greer is shy demure miss, she knows who she is and what she wants. Why she senses in Raphe a like minded soul. He is not as bad as people and gossips paint him. Oh he did everything written about him, but he is no vile nor abusive fellow. He is just lonely and lost himself on the way. Raphe is instantly drawn to Greer but what he is to do when everyone told him to keep his paws to himself and stay away from her. If he were not in his present predicament, she would be the woman for him, fun, never staying in one place, with a wicked sense of humor, a woman after his own heart. It was quite a merry chase for Greer, even if Raphe is a willing prey who hold back. And despite their mishaps and downfalls, I loved how a lioness she is to defend him Andrew he is ready to punching holes to protect her. And while they have less ups and downs than some of their friends, Raphe for a debauched is quite a decent fellow, trying first and last to safeguard Greer from himself. I love the stories do not stop at the profession of love, that we get to follow them beyond the HEA, and see them again later. Plus while the mothers had Montagu, now the daughters have too their champions, with as icing on the cake the always boisterous Bainbridge. It is always so entertaining to see him again, a devoted but with a wicked sense of humor friend. And with this present tale, do we have also new leads for more romances to come… 5 stars 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 onscreen foreplays and lovemaking scenes.

Maybe too graphic for my taste, though the usual understanding of human feeling is there, the dialog crisp and often amusing.
On one page I came across an inexcusable error in grammar. Honestly, it surprised me. Where is the editor in all this?. The author wrote, “Both her and Alana take after me”… HER and Alana?
An egregious mistake in grammar made by such a gifted storyteller!

Loved Greer and Raphes story. Going from a drunken rake to working on being respectable Raphe had his hands full when she arrived at her sisters home for Christmas. Greer knew from the moment she met Raphe she wanted him and she will pull out all her tricks to succeed. But Raphe needs to realize he is worth it. A wonderful story about redemption and love.

I love this spin-off series, but I struggled to read this book. There is a continuity error in the timeline from book 6 to this book 7. In book 6 Raphe went to Dare's house in the Fall of 1839, Cat took the hat to Grace in March of 1840, but this book has Raphe still there "a few weeks" later in December 1840 and Aisling needing to take her dare and get the hat back to Cat so she can take it to Grace. It was distracting to me. Also, the heroine, Greer, was my least favorite of all the female characters in both series.

After eagerly awaiting the latest Daring Daughters book, I was not disappointed. Greer Cadogan is as lively and unpredictable as her mother, which doesn't bode well for Raphe, Baron de Ligne. Raphe has been warned to stay away from Greer, but no one can keep Greer away from Raphe. The hat of dares comes into play again with almost disastrous results, but all is well that ends well. Once again I await the next book in the series!

As always, I adored this book. Greer and Raphe are so well matched and the book races along as their romance proceeds. The steam level is medium, with hints of spice - definitely suiting this pairing! Surrounded by all the characters from this wonderful series so far, as well as new faces equally as charming, the central couple gets their happy ever after with only a few hilarious hiccups along the way. The trio of Raphe, Bainbridge and Dare are always a giggle, and the introduction of the Cootes brothers, Aisling and Alana is intriguing. And seeing Bonnie and Jerry, and Rothborn again in parental roles is so lovely. Emma really knows how to keep her readers wanting more!! Can't wait for the next book(s).

A rake with an enthusiastic lady = sizzling passion !

Greer Cadogan is just like her Mama- lively, impulsive and loyal. She loves the world she lives in and is unafraid to indulge in her curiosity.

Raphe Coote - a man on the brink of disaster finds her too lovely to be with him. He tries to push her away but that just brings her closer !

A few mistakes, a couple of fights and our couple find their happy ever after !

A heartwarming tale of falling in love ( literally !!! )

Steam Level : open lovemaking scenes ( elegant)
Tropes - Invested storyline, rake and heiress

He doesn't see himself as a hero but as a dissolute Rake who has nothing to offer.
She doesn't see herself as a woman men would fight for.
When they meet it's like rubbing two sticks together - you produce fire!
A thoroughly entertaining book that introduces new characters and reunites us with old favourites, It tugged at my heart strings in places and had me laughing out loud in others.
What more can I say, except to say very well done Emma Leech, you've done it again!

I’d have enjoyed this book more, if it hadn’t had so many sex scenes. Honestly, I’m finding them so boring, in book after book, by so many writers, and it rarely moves a story forward. This is not a criticism of Ms Leech’s writing, which is very good, but more a comment on every writer who’s succumbed to the idea that it’s necessary in order to keep the reader’s interest. I see it as a filler. I mean, how many ways can it all be described? And really, is it always so amazing for every female in every book? When I find a writer who doesn’t use sex scenes at all, but actually stirs the emotions, and makes you feel for the characters involved, I know I’ve found a writer I’ll read again and again.
