    Trish McCallan was born in Eugene, Oregon, and grew up in Washington State, where she began crafting stories at an early age. Her first books were illustrated in crayon, bound with red yarn, and sold for a nickel at her lemonade stand. Trish grew up to earn a bachelor’s degree in English literature with a concentration in creative writing from Western Washington University, taking jobs as a bookkeeper and human- resource specialist before finally quitting her day job to write full time.

    Forged in Fire, the first book in her Red Hot SEALs series, came about after a marathon reading session, and a bottle of Nyquil that sparked a vivid dream. She lives today in eastern Washington. An avid animal lover, she currently shares her home with four golden retrievers, a black lab mix and two cats.

This romantic suspense is a mind blowing and thrilling read that readers can really sink their teeth into. Ariel and Rhys are strong, captivating characters that make it easy for readers to connect which in turn makes it easy for them to become completely caught up in the story. The chemistry between Rhys and Ariel sizzling with lots of electrical intensity that readers can feel leaping off the pages but it also has some strong emotional vibes flowing from the characters as well, which isn’t really surprising considering the situation these two are in. The past relationship between the hero and heroine play an integral part in the story and is the cause of a lot of the emotional turbulence which keeps the outcome of their relationship in question. The plot is steady to fast paced and steadily builds the suspense throughout which keeps readers glued to the pages as a sixteen year old crime begins to unravel and truths are revealed. Ariel was always convinced of her dad’s innocence while others including Rhys were sure that he was the infamous serial killer. This keeps emotions in constant turmoil while surprising twists and betrayals keep readers on the edge of their seat. The story takes place in an intriguing small town which adds ambiance to the story and as more information and evidence comes to light, everyone starts to realize the far reaching consequences of ‘what if they were wrong’ which ensures that there is never a dull moment to be found in this thrilling romantic suspense.

    I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy of Dark Legacy book 3 in the Dark Falls series .
    I must say this story is a suspenseful and purse pounding read .
    I was drawn into the story from the beginning . It's a very riveting and action packed storyline . I love how Ariel is a strong and capable total rockstar . The chemistry between Rhys and Ariel is smokin' and off the chains . The story leaves you on the edge of your seat . This is a fantastic well written story . A second chance romance included . The characters are incredible . I really enjoyed reading this book . I highly recommend taking the time to read and enjoy this story . I'm looking forward to more in this series .

    I love second chances and reading about the one that got away. And the reason that Rhys and Ariel need a second chance is one of the most tragic I’ve come across. The story sucked me in and pulled me along for the ride. I didn’t want to put it down when distractions like my day job interrupted me. I can’t say that the true villain in this story was a big surprise to me, but I’m going to blame that on my own overly suspicious nature. I enjoyed this and look forward to reading the next in the series.

    I don't like to give negative reviews, but I'm not sure what happened to this story. It just stops at Chapter 9. Really would like to know how it ends. Not sure how it could be published this way and not caught. Don't like spending money for a book that's not complete. I feel sorry for the author if it's a publishing problem. IF they update the complete book, I will be happy to come back and alter the rating.

    UPDATE: I noticed one reviewer said they downloaded the book again. So I tried it and it worked for me. So, I altered the rating to 5 stars.

    So I originally didn't get the full file and was upset about it, but the author contacted me and I got the full version. I was so happy with her response to the issue, she was great. I changed my review to accurately reflect my thoughts on the full version of the book.
    I loved this book, it was action packed and Ariel was so kick ass. She is extremely smart and funny, especially with Rhys. Although they had some difficulties and conflict throughout they managed to come together at the end. The twists and turns of the book kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. The only thing I would have liked to see, was what happened with her sister Ashley after her betrayal, and also if they confirm that her father was innocent or not. I was kind of waiting for that conclusion the whole time, I wanted her to be right, but there was no word on that so I was slightly disappointing with that. But overall, the book was great, as usual for Trish's books

A detective and a crime writer with a past…can they work together to solve the crime and answer unresolved questions. Well written and fast paced this story was entertaining. The villain was predictable and so was the outcome, but the buildup of scenes and the gotcha moments were fun to read. Good characters and story. Looking forward to more from this series and the Ashley book from (sister) from this author.

    A 5 Star Book for Sure! The Suspence kept me turning page after page. The attraction and stress between the two main characters was great. I would have liked to have seen more between the two sisters, gone deeper into why the one turned in her father. I would have liked to see the antagonist portrayed as a darker sociopath with darker and deeper reasons for the killings. I would recommend this book as a good read!

    I have been saving this series to read together. Have just read Dark Legacy and find I only have up to chapter 9: paid full price so I am not very happy. I have all trish mccallan books so am a fan but very disappointing to not be able to read the ending. Not happy at the moment 😒chapters 1-9 were good but no stars left till I get to rest.. how does that happen?
