DAX: Royal Protectors/Sidewinders Crossover Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 216 ratings

From USA Today Bestselling author Kat Mizera comes a crossover novel between the beloved Las Vegas Sidewinders series and the sexy Royal Protectors series.

This time he’s playing for keeps...

Rugged hockey star Dax O’Day has always had a thing for his best friend and teammate’s twin sister, but that’s a line you don’t cross. Not in hockey, and definitely not in life. He just can’t stop thinking about her, and when she turns to him for help, there isn’t a chance in hell he can refuse her—even if it means getting his hands dirty.

Beautiful and brilliant, Isla Campbell is a physics professor who comes from a titled Scottish family. She’s loved Dax since the first time they met, but he’s never really seen her like that. With her grandfather trying to marry her off, who better to come to her rescue than the most uninterested, eligible bachelor?

Dax is torn between walking away from the only life he’s ever known to answer the call of duty and keeping his distance from the woman he can’t live without. The longer they put off the inevitable, the harder it becomes to choose.

USA Today Bestselling author Kat Mizera is a South Florida native. Born in Miami Beach with a healthy dose of wanderlust, she's called Los Angeles, Long Island, upstate New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Atlanta home. She's never been able to pick which locale is her favorite, but if pressed, she'd probably choose the west coast.

Kat's a typical PTA mom with a wonderful and supportive husband (Kevin) and two amazing boys (Nick and Max). When she's not writing, she's either scrapbooking or indulging in her second love (after writing) - traveling. Greece is one of her favorite places in the world. She loves that Athens is a big city with a small-town feel. The food, beaches and culture keep her going back as often as possible. She hopes to retire there one day so she can spend her days writing books on the beach.

As you can guess from her series, the Las Vegas Sidewinders, Kat loves hockey. She is also a freelance hockey writer, covering her favorite team, the Florida Panthers, and any other teams that have an interesting story. The rest of the time, she writes novels: sexy, romantic fiction that she hopes makes you as happy as it makes her. There's something enticing about hockey players and romance...

When your Kindle keeps falling on your face because it's the wee hours but you're determined to push through because you can't put it down, you know you've found a book for your Favorites Shelf.

What I love most about Dax is that he won't just settle for what's easy. He has get himself where he needs to be first, and he truly believes everything that is meant to be will fall into place once that happens. He doesn't stop fighting for Isla, but he gives her time to figure out what she wants and how he fits into that. Both characters learn there's more opportunities to be found if they open their hearts and minds and wait for the right timing.

Life lessons aside, the passion and loving ways between these two will deliver all the feels. Once they realize their feelings for each other are mutual, they jump right in and waste no time making up for lost time (past and future). And when they finally find a way for them to be together, doing what they're each meant to do, in a place series readers have already fallen in love with, you'll find yourself counting the days til the next release. ♡

Dax is amazing. I love how we get both the Royal Protector and Sidewinders worlds in this one. Dax is unsure about what he wants to do after hockey but knows what he wants when it comes to love. Isla is super focused and knows she needs a change. You feel her fears throughout this one. She sees change as bending and changing who she is for someone else. Dax fights hard for his love and figuring what to do next. You feel the love between Isla and Dax and the timing and distance. By the end you will love everything about Dax and Isla. I could not get enough of this one. I love Dax and Isla so much.

Ilsa is the twin sister to Ian one of the Sidewinders. And as the only girl in the family her grandfather wants to see her married off and having kids. So he repeatedly invites men over for dinner to try. Growing sick of this she finally tells him that she has a boyfriend. Without thinking to hard she tells him she is with Dax. Ian's best friend on the team and her crush for the last two years. And he is all to willing to play along. Until he wants more. This book fits in well in the series. And this series should be read in order.

I started reading the series with the Blizzards and since the first book I have purchased each book. I love all the characters, their stories, and how each new books builds on the previous one.

This book is a cross over between two of Kat Mizers’s series, Las Vegas Sidewinders and Royal Protectors. The two main characters each are dissatisfied with their life, and need to figure things out, but are their life goals compatible?

Dax is an NHL player for the Las Vegas Sidewinders and has been playing professional hockey for 10 years. He loves hockey, but wants more for his future, but he isn’t exactly sure what he wants or how to accomplish it before time runs out. If he wants to join the FBI, he’s Canadian and would need US citizenship and needs to get a bachelor’s degree plus have 3 years experience in a related job experience to qualify, he needs to figure it out soon.

Isla is seemingly very happy as a university professor in Scotland who teaches physics and occasionally astronomy and a scientist studying black holes. She has been in love with Dax her twin brother’s best friend and teammate on the Sidewinders. They’ve been friends/friendly for 5 years, but nothing has ever happened between them. Her grandfather has been meddling and pushing her to get married and have babies, and pushes her too far at a family dinner when he encourages a guest to ask her to be his date at her twin brother’s upcoming wedding. She tries to fake already having a date and is pushed into naming someone... she tells her family it’s Dax.

She reaches out to her brother to gage how Dax will react . Dax tells her brother he’d be willing to be her fake date or real date. When Dax arrives in Scotland he and Isla quickly fall into more than a fake relationship when it turns steamy the first day. Weeks later, after going on vacation together and moving to Las Vegas for the summer it’s time for Isla to return to Scotland, but what happens when they have 5,000 miles between them and too many hours difference in time zones, never mind super busy schedules that will prevent them from being together for months?

Dax and Isla didn't disappoint! This couple has seemed perfect since they first appeared as side characters. Both seem to be at turning points on their lives and now is the perfect time to jump into a whole new life! I can't wait to see where their new path takes them!

Loved that the two series were combined. Dax and Isla story is great and has been building for a few books and now that they’re together, happiness.

Once I picked up this book I couldn't out it down. Dax and Isla were always meant to be together but being on different continents three both of them for a loop. I'm so glad that they got their HEA though as they both deserve it.
