Deadly Dorian (Ward Security Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 1,532 ratings

Someone is trying to kill Marc Foster.

Attempted poisoning was bad enough, but when the would-be killer messes with the brakes on Marc’s precious Porsche, the art dealer admits he needs help.

He just wasn’t expecting help to be quite so dark and sexy.

Royce Karras loves his job at Ward Security. He’s making up for a lifetime of bad decisions and a bloody past he’d rather forget.

But Marc isn’t the spoiled rich boy he thought he’d be protecting.

Sticking close to Marc as his “boyfriend” gives Royce insight into his toxic family, but it also reveals a brilliant, compassionate man who completely disarms Royce.

Against his better judgment, Royce finds himself falling.

But can they find a way to make it work when Royce’s past threatens to tear their lives apart? Their future hinges on a lost Renaissance painting, six Bichon Frises, and a pornographic Robin Hood.

No worries, right?

I just always feel a bit unsatisfied/unsettled when I don't get a peak into the future after the couple gets back together or finally stops fighting their feelings for each other. So with it ending right after, I just feel incomplete even though it ended happily and the story was resolved.
I did love getting to see inside Royce's head and what he's dealing with. Seeing him open up to more than just Marc as well and overcoming his fears from what happened in the past. So fantastic book, packed with quite a bit of action in the end.

Marc is a frustrated artist. He has settled for selling others people's art. He has galleries around the world that are very successful. He also has a heart condition that requires medication. When he realizes that his medication has been tampered with he is concerned but not sure what to do. When the brakes fail on his new car he knows it's time to seek help.

Enter Royce from Ward Security. Royce is one of Ward’s best. Snarky, handsome, and good at his job. To protect Marc, he becomes his fake boyfriend. Their connection quickly becomes real once they discover they can't keep their hands off each other.

I'm really glad Royce got his own story. Royce needed someone who can keep him in line but at the same time let him be in control. Because of his past he keeps second guessing everything about their relationship, putting it in jeopardy.

These guys are smoking hot together. A private jet, romantic setting, olive oil, and stolen art, what more do you need to make a fabulous read? Add a sexy mysterious art thief (who I really hope we get to see more of) and the story just keeps getting better. Oh, and don't forget evil family on both sides.

One of the best things about Ward Security (other than its incredible men) is the quick views of some of the Unbreakable world characters we get to see. This is the third book in this series. It can be read as a standalone but reading the other books will enhance the enjoyment of this one. A good addition to my library.

Drake and Elliott continue to go from strength to strength with their books. This duo of writers is a force to be reckoned with in the m/m genre, particularly in the suspense and action categories.

We have all read stories where the bodyguard and protected fall for one another, Drake and Elliot have written one themselves but I promise you, this book is different.

Marc and Royce, two men with troubled pasts are Theon together when Marc fears someone in his family is trying to kill him! The duo are forced to act and boyfriends to explain Royce’s presence in Marc’s life. Seemingly opposite in every way. Marc the creative, self made art magnate and Royce the hardened by life bodyguard, are made for each other. After days of denying their attraction to each other they come together in a physical release of passion. When they each learn it could be something more, they begin to let heir guards down and their ‘acting’ soon becomes reality.

When everything comes to a head and Marc is injured, their relationship is thrown into jeopardy and Royce’s old fears resurface. It takes an old favourite, Rowe, to convince him he needs to allow himself the happiness he deserves.

This is an incredible book, an excellent addition to the series. This book is full of heart and soul. The characters are real and three dimensional and you can’t help but fall in love with Marc and Royce. Though I would say you could read it as a stand-alone, do yourself a favour and check out the other books by these ladies! Deadly Dorian is a must read!

    Damned fine read. Spoiler alert.

This one starts with Marc Foster. Foster is one good looking guy and he's also extremely wealthy via his own hard work. He is currently starving but has been sick as a dog so of course won't be eating anything.

Marc is headed to visit a new artist he's courting. He is in his new Porsche which he loves. The road he's on is full of sharp turns and when his brakes fail he almost goes over the cliff. He manages to stop the car but now he knows he needs help. Someone is trying to kill him so he will get Rowe Security on the case and to do that he will see Lucas Vallois. He doesn't really like Lucas but he know Lucas and Rowe are good friends and a word from Lucas will mean Rowe will take the case. To many strange things have been happening around Marc and he really feels he needs someone looking out for him.

Royce Karras, a member of Rowe Security, meets Quinn, another Rowe Security man, at Jeffrey Ralse's house. Royce got the assignment with Foster. He will be posing as Marc's boyfriend and that's not something he's comfortable with because Royce is far from the cuddly boyfriend type. In fact he's one mean looking guy. A guy who has had to fight his whole life. A guy no one at Rowe security really knows anything about.

It will have to be Royce though because Garrett and Dominic who could have played the part with no problem are both on assignment already.

Marc Foster is several inches taller that Royce, his shoulders were wide and his body slim. He's is nothing like what Royce expected to see. Nor is he a spoiled egocentric idiot. Royce is as gay as Marc is and thinks this gig might not be to bad.

Foster has two brothers and a sister who treat Marc like S**t. His sister lives in the guest house and goes in and out of Marc's house like she owns it. Her first meeting with Royce throws her for a loop because the minute Royce realized she was coming he grabbed Marc and kissed the hell out of him. His sister detests the fact that Marc is gay and uses every opportunity to let him know she doesn't approve.

Marc explains all the things that have happened to him over the last few months and Royce is beginning to see this assignment will be all about finding someone who wants Foster dead. .

So begins one damned fie read.

This one has Royce, Marc, Marcs sister Lilah, his two brothers, Gabriel and Richard, Quinn, Dominic, Garret, Sven, Rowe, Noah and the rest of Rowe Security, a call from Royce's Uncle who turns out to be one the head mobsters in NY, a Marc and Royce stealing a painting from the man who's been holding that painting for decades, a Marc and Royce growing close, a Royce who hates his family, a boyfriend named Michael who died, a Royce who will always remember Michael, a Marc who finds himself insanely attracted to Royce, Marc's sibling who are less than helpful and see nothing wrong with helping themselves to anything in Marc's house, a raid by Rowe, Noah, Royce and the rest of Rowe Security and Royce Karras doing his best to forgive himself, take out the trash and become part of Marc Fosters life.

5.0 out of 5 stars such smoking hot spin off series, cannot wait for the next installment,
Reviewed in Australia on April 13, 2018
I love Drake and Elliot's Unbreakable series, and am totally loving this Ward Security series spin off. Such delightful secondary characters brought to life and love in their own stories. Says a lot when an original MC, from the original series holds the title for a spin off series and really it made perfect sense that Rowe Ward's influence continues like his does.

A lot of mixed reviews about this book and in particular Royce Karass. Personally, I found Royce to be a complex character, gritty, dark, hurt and just a little bit emotionally fragile, something totally at odds with how he presents himself and runs his life. From the first 2 books in this new series, you'd almost be forgiven for expecting Royce to be a totally unlikable man, but yeah, you'd be wrong because in his own story he opens up exposing his hurts and vulnerabilities to us as readers right from his first page. I connected with him right away.

Despite being extremely proficient at inflicting harm onto others, Royce is not ex-military, though his childhood helped shape him to become a very competent security operative with a take charge badass attitude. Thankfully these days he's working for the good guys. Royce has had a lot of emotional turmoil in his life, as the remaining son of a notorious NY crime boss, Royce survived the loss of his father and brother early on in life only to lose the first love of his life when Royce's shady lifestyle crossed boundaries. As a man whose grown to be a bit cynical and distant, embroiled in heartbreak and regret for his past mistakes, Royce has had and lost his HEA, and now in his early 30's, he's learnt to erect walls and keep his distance from everyone, anything to minimise any potential emotional pain. He's almost knocked on his ass when he meets Marc for the first time, lust drunk for a beautiful gorgeous man so far out of his league it's not funny.

Marc Forster, a late in life surprise baby, he has 3 older siblings, all of whom are not fond of Marc, nor his sexuality, but are happy to use his success as it suits them. At 28 Marc comes across as a well put together smooth, highly successful art dealer, but truthfully he is also a very complex character. It's clear even from early on, that Marc's is a very different man in private, warm, giving and prone to seesawing self-esteem issues, a man very aware that his siblings are not fond of him, especially since it seems one of them is trying to kill him. Closing in on 30, Marc would love nothing more than a solid relationship with a man he can trust and love, not unlike what he sees his friends falling into. Marc is completely blindsided by his new bodyguard Royce, a gruff, commanding man sent to act as his fake boyfriend, so he can provide 24/7 protection while they figure out which of his siblings hates him enough to kill him.

While they seem like night and day, at somewhat opposing spectrum of socio- and economic lifestyles, at their most basic level, the men are remarkably similar. They both have been hurt in the past, made poor life choices and felt the backlash of those bad decisions and they both hide behind a facade that they use as a buffer in their lives so their vulnerabilities are hidden. One thing that they can't seem to hide is their attraction for each other. The chemistry between Royce and Marc is off the charts smoking hot and its a problem that elevates the fake boyfriend scenario from pretend to real in no time flat.

One thing about Drake and Elliot is they can write seriously blistering hot sexy times between our heroes, looking back over the Unbreakable series, all four MC's Lucas, Snow, Rowe and Ian and their respective partners steamed up the Kindle and reading their stories without asbestos gloves left you prone to 3rd degree burns. This spin off series is just as sexy. Starting with Geoffrey and Sven, Quinn and Stephen, this new series is seriously so good.

As expected Deadly Dorian was no different in the bedroom, or patio, or studio as any other Drake and Elliot novel. By the time our heroes get horizontal on a regular basis its apparent that Royce is all about control and Marc is scorching hot in his submission. Add in the layered danger from the family member trying to kill Marc to a past that has come full -circle for Royce with deadly ramifications and Deadly Dorian is another great story by these two very talented authors.

Add in cameos from Lucas and Andrei and Rowe and Noah and really what's not to love about this series. Plus, who doesn't love a gritty crime romance story with a great sense of humor. With the appearance of Rowe and Noah, tense became silly and delightful when they started dropping bad puns as fast as they were dropping bad guys. It was sexy and cheeky and smoothed the rough edges in the novel.

I really enjoyed this instalment, I pre-ordered it as soon as that option became available and I don't regret that I could have read this on Kindle Unlimited for free, because I would have bought it anyway. If you're a lover of Unbreakable series, and Ward Security series, you wont be disappointed.

    Highly recommended.

I loved this book and the relationship that built up between Mark and Royce. (Rowe Ward only has himself to blame for hiring such sexy bodyguards.) The story keeps you guessing right to the end who is trying to kill our young art collector and I definitely got the wrong bad guy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Drake&Elliott send the Ward Security guys on an explosive new case!
Reviewed in Germany on May 11, 2018
Marc is a successful Art Gallery owner with in Cinncinati. Suddenly someoneone attempts to kill him in various ways and forces him to seek help at Ward Security. Dark and reclusive Royce is assinged to the job, and because Marc thinks the killer can only be amongst his siblings, Royce is introduce as his boyfriend. No matter how hard both men try to deny the attraction they feel, it doesn't last too long before they give in and blurr the lines between professional and private. The case even becomes more complicated when Royce's old life knocks at his front door. To rescue his mother from his mobster relatives, Marc and Royce jet off to Italy to steal an unpayable painting. That, falling hard for Marc and sending the whole team in on a secret mission, was certainly not in the bodyguard job descrption Rowe had in mind at the beginning.

In „Deadly Dorian“ Drake&Elliott present us with a different version of „bodyguard and client“, making it to an unstoppable page turner until the end, again! Royce and Marc have dark, troubled pasts they try to make up for with all their strengths. Both MCs are described to vividly and mutlilayered, that you can't help but liking them instantly. Marc's spiritied, compassionate and creative persona disarms Royce and us readers at the same time. But it is Royce's full story being unfolded, that really made my heart ache. When it had been tender with Geoffrey& Sven and magical with Shane&Quinn, this time it is all hot and explosive with Marc&Royce. I am sure one can read and highly enjoy the Ward Series as stand-alones, but after this crazy and mighty explosive installment, I am intriged to check out the Unbreakable Bond series soon, too. It left Royce (and myself) awed and touched to discover all those gorgious guys around Rowe and Ward Security are a true family with unwavering support and deep friendship. Can't wait to see what those two writing wizzard ladies have in store for all the guys next!
