Deadly Still: Is a serial killer on the island? (Inspector Torquil McKinnon Book 6) Kindle Edition
Has an innocent celebration gone wrong or is there a killer poisoning the islanders…?
West Uist, Scotland
While out on her morning run, Sergeant Morag Driscoll stumbles upon a teenager in serious distress.Catriona McDonald is screaming hysterically and claims she has gone blind.
And her friend, Jamie, is in an unresponsive state…
With one young person dead, another missing, and a third in a critical condition, Morag quickly summons Inspector Torquil McKinnon and the rest of the team to action.
It seems the injuries are linked to illegally distilled alcohol. But were the teenagers the intended target? Or has a larger threat been brewed in the Deadly Still?
DEADLY STILL is the sixth crime thriller in the detective series featuring Inspector Torquil McKinnon: an action-packed police procedural full of suspense.
'Keith Moray gives a delightful mystery tale and at the same time a fascinating look at the island folk of West Uist, a fictional island in the Hebrides. I found the culture almost as riveting as the murders and in all enjoyed the book tremendously.' – Frank Roderus, double WWA Spur winning author

- Reviewed in the United States on January 28, 2020This is a great series about ordinary people living in an out of the way place, and making life work. Really great complex characters and fun mysteries too.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 14, 2020Moray spends a lot of time painting characters and locations/geography. Not that his characters aren't interesting and charming. They truly are. I'm just more of a cut to the chase reader. The plot was interesting as well. I had no idea who killed two people and kidnapped a third, or why. Much better than knowing who the bad gu/gal is within the first 25 pages. Then wondering why, if I can figure it out that quickly, the protagonist doesn't manage it till the end? This is worth a read, thanks to the characters and Scotland.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 16, 2020Another great book in Keith Moray's Torquil McKinnon series. All of the familiar faces were there and a wonderful new incomer to the force from England. It's been a long wait, but well worth it. Can't wait for the next instalment. Highly recommended for those who love well-written, character-driven mysteries. And whilst a police procedural, it's not CSI driven. Thank you, Mr Moray!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 29, 2020Great characters and plots in this series. Story lines that keep you on your toes. One can almost feel the mist from this remote Scottish isle while reading Deadly Still.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 7, 2020An intricate story well told and well written. Recommended to the readers who appreciate an interesting, clean, police procedural set in an exotic location. I certainly will read more by Keith Moray.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 27, 2023While, for the most part, I find this series okay, it could really benefit with better editing. It's a pet peeve of mine that better care isn't taken before a book is released. The storylines are usually a bit different and the cast of characters is mostly likable, although the clueless, grumpy Superintendent is way too cliche, otherwise not a bad read.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 3, 2020Inspector Torquil McKinnon has his little staff spread out over all the island looking for a killer and a kidnapper. This charming story again gives a pleasant and intriguing read.

4.0 out of 5 stars I’m waiting for the next one
This series takes place on West Uist, Hebrides which has a very small Police force so are well known over this small island. The owner of the local rag and his assistant also are a force to be reckoned with as well.
Usually a quiet place, in this instalment 3 teenagers out to celebrate the end of exams accidentally end up drinking methanol rather than the whiskey they assumed was in the bottle. Consequently, one girl is found blinded and with kidney failure, one boy is dead and the other girl is missing.
By the time all the facts are in, one murderer is identified, several Island families are indirectly involved, marriages are cut asunder and some influential people are caught up in the methanol scandal. A great read and I’m looking forward to many more.
