5.0 out of 5 stars This book could be made into a great film
So well written. This book is set in the very topical post pandemic world. Observing currently the chaos in cities affected by the '2nd wave', it was chilling to read about where the world could go as a '3rd wave' takes hold. The plot soon develops through time and across continents. John Goodman cleverly develops his characters and allows the story to unfold. There are great insights into areas of life we take for granted which just simply wouldn't be available as civilisation crumbles. It is also a story of hope and resilience of the survivors left around. I find myself wishing there was a sequel - what happens next......... ?

5.0 out of 5 stars Intertwining and hopeful
Excellent. Gripped from the first page, this relevant tale gave me a sense of calm and hope in the world we currently inhabit. Rocked by a virus, the stories woven and intertwine like an adult fairytale with a neatly finished and heartfelt end. Accents were apparent in much of the phrasing, bringing the characters to life from kindle screen to my imagination. Oh how I wish I’d had some nettle tea to sup while I had turned the last few pages.

4.0 out of 5 stars Topical genre hybrid
This is very pleasant mashup of detective novel, rural drama and post-apocalyptic road trip, set in a transatlantic near-future devastated by a pandemic. So far, so topical, you might think, but the tone is closer to something by Kazuo Ishiguro than any airport-shop thriller.
The story unfolds in some refreshingly clean and unfussy prose that was a joy to read - a definite page-turner. The novel has some wonderful evocations of a post-crisis England - a kind of ruined, pastoral quietude that seems quite appealing right now... and it also has some interesting things to say about separation and the bonds of family.
Overall, highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Read......
A whodunit set in a disturbing but strangely familiar new world.
The story ranges across time and locations and twists and turns right to the end
Particularly liked the strong, tenacious female heroes and that the reader was confronted with both physical and mental distress in a brave and insightful way as we followed the journey of the main characters.
If you are looking for an unnerving but timely story for our times and a good read then I recommend you give "Death, Dot and Daisy" a try...........

5.0 out of 5 stars Thoughtful, and thought provoking
I found this book gripping and very thought provoking. I was soon immersed in a post-pandemic world full of surprises, many of them bad ones, but also with enough human sensitivity to raise it way above the usual disaster stories. A very entertaining read which I will remember for a long time.
