Deep Rescue: A state-of-the-art weapon reduced to a sitting duck... (Depth Force Submarine Thrillers Book 13) Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 382 ratings

An edge-of-your-seat naval thriller! Perfect for fans of Douglas Reeman, Michael DiMercurio, George Wallace and Don Keith.

Jack Boxer doesn’t know who he can trust…

A number of US Navy submarines have mysteriously sunk in recent months.

When the super-sub
Manta goes down with all hands — including Admiral Jack Boxer’s adopted son, Chuck — the Chief of Naval Operations wants to know why. Was human error behind the disaster, or was it a case of sabotage?

Tasked with investigating the sinkings, Boxer agrees to take command of the attack submarine
Scorpion, which has recently experienced a series of unexplained technical problems. He hopes the assignment will help distract him from his grief, and prevent more loss of life.

But on their way to answer a May Day call, a sudden explosion sends the
Scorpion plunging towards the seabed.

Now perched precariously on the edge of an abyss, their distress signal alerts the only other submarine in the sector — a killer sub piloted by Boxer’s Russian counterpart,
Igor Borodine.

Will the Russian submarine reach them in time? Is there a deadly saboteur aboard the Scorpion?

One thing’s for sure — any slip now will spell certain doom for them all.

Igor to save Jack again from sure death at the bottom of the Atlantic after an explosion aboard the sub he was trying to evaluate.

A good story with interesting characters and an engaging plotline.
I will definitely get some more works of the author.

This book appears unfinished. The goal was to determine why all these subs are being lost. This episode of Greenfield’s kindle book series is only 188 pages where most of the previous are 250+. Boxer is put in command of the Scorpion (poor choice of names) to take her out for a test dive with some undercover investigators onboard. The ship goes down, Igor his Russian friend/nemesis happens to show at the last minute and provides air from his submarine.

Two problems with this scenario, Igor is in the US not assigned to his super sub. Why does the super sub happen to be of the eastern coast to respond?
Lastly why does the book end with no rescue or any hint of reason why all the subs are mysteriously going down?

I stared reading the following book. Boxer was obviously rescued, but no mention of what happened in between.

This was a great read. The characters were well described and believable. A little too many bedroom scenes for my taste but I thought the book was excellent and would recommend it to anyone in submarines.
