About the author

Silvia Violet writes bad boy M/M romance. She can be found haunting coffee shops looking for the darkest, strongest cup of coffee she can find. Once equipped with the needed fuel, she can happily sit for hours pounding away at her laptop. Silvia typically leaves home disguised as a suburban stay-at-home-mom, and other coffee shop patrons tend to ask her hilarious questions like "Do you write children's books?" She loves watching the looks on their faces when they learn what she's actually up to. When not writing, Silvia enjoys baking sinfully delicious treats, exploring new styles of cooking, and reading to her incorrigible offspring.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 28, 2024Finally Devil got his own book! It was worth waiting for. Debil is the cousin of the mafia leader Lucien Marchesi. Devil is reckless and impatient. He is an adrenaline junkie and a psychopath with a heart of gold. He lives his cousins Lucien and Angel. But something is missing. When his cousin Lucien is blamed for a murder he didn't commit, Devil becomes unhinged. He can't lose Luc. During a reckless encounter he realizes he is being followed by a cop. Joe is a police officer dedicated to bring down the Marchesi. He is an honest man and a good cop. But when he sees Devil something shifts within him. The second the two men meet it is instant combustion. They can't keep their hands off each other. Or other body parts. But can Devil trust a cop when he is part of the mafia? Can he stop himself from breaking into Joe's apartment to have his way with him. Thr two men don't understand what's happening between them. But they haven't gone unnoticed. When Joe is put in danger will Devil be able to save him in time? What will the Marchesi do when they learn of Devils cop? Oh my gosh!! This book was so hot!! My kindle was smoking The chemistry between the two men.was all consuming. I loved Devil thd second i read about him in Luc's book. Devil had a surprising caring side to himself. I loved how he tried to take care of Joe. Nothing escaped Devils attention. It was beautiful how Devil didn't fight his feelings. He could be a dominant but also tender at times. Joe's life is his career and helping others. Where Devil has the love of his family. Joe has no one. His family died when he was five. Placed in foster care he never felt special. Until Devil. I don't want to spoil the story. It is so amazing I had to purchase it on print. Also get the Christmas Edition of Devil and Joe. It continues where this book ends! Sylvia Violet has such a talent of bringing out emotions. Her characters are fully developed. You become invested in their HEA. There is no cheating. A unique gay romance! I would suggest you start with book one Lucien. Characters from book 1 and 2 are included in book 3.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 24, 2020This is my favorite if the series and the most natural progression of a relationship. Devil and Joe are two adults very aware of where they stand with each other and whose dynamic doesn't feel coerced in the same way Angelo and Lucien's did. Which I appreciate. Is it the most healthy? Nah. But considering their circumstances honestly they're pretty close. Which is surprising when you consider Devil is the one depicted as the lose cannon of the trio. So, what did I like?
Pros (Spoilers)
Both Devil and Joe have an equal stake in the relationship. The most Devil does to try and take any real control of Joe's life is at the end after he's injured and frankly even that wasn't a hard rule Joe was wanting to fight in any capacity.
Development. The relationship spanned the course of about a year. This gave its inception and eventual evolution the room and space and DEPTH it needed to feel organic. A piece I felt was lacking, especially in Angelo's arc.
Characterization. I feel like Devil and Joe had two of the strongest characters in the series in terms of how they felt in the page with motivations that made sense, Devil just wanted to protect his family, Joe just wanted to protect people within the eyes of the law, both also saw distinct character growth. Devil becoming more mellowed and level headed, Joe becoming more open to interpretations of Justice.
Having a character with clear competence and able to defend himself and hold his own by himself in the Marchesi world was a breath of fresh air.
Finally, their struggle and stakes just felt much more tenuous and high. Devil and Joe are star crossed lovers. Made for each other but because of their lives seemed on some level doomed to heartbreak. Their story is one of compromise. Of romance. Of dedication and it's in this struggle that they really shine. I couldn't figure out how they'd get their happy ending and that just made me more committed to their story
So with all that being said, why 4 stars and not 5?
Cons
Pacing. This could be in part me being greedy, but their story felt rushed. Especially at the end. The climax and everything that happened lacked the proper tension I felt it deserved because the prose glossed over a lot of the finer details. Even the taking of the big baddie of this book happened off screen which is different from the other two books who's climaxes were much more tense.
I loved these two and I wish we had more time with them. Frankly the amount of time covered could have easily been a book twice the length of this and it was disappointing to see we wouldnt be getting anything else from Devil and Joe directly.
Editing: while my pacing complaints are subjective, the real reason I removed a star was because of glaring editing plot holes. I initially noticed them in Angelo which had it the worst. There was a whole section that switched randomly to third person and made it incredibly confusing to read. But even in this book, I caught glaring issues like mistaking Devil for Angelo in the text.
I even think Devil's backstory got retconned somehow? I had been under the impression Sabrina was Devil's mother based on conversations between Lucien and Peter but by this book, that seemed to not be the case? It was jarring and confusing and frequent enough to really take me out of the story.
Overall. I recommend the book. Especially this one. It's my favorite and I love these two characters separately and together. The sex was hot (I need more bottom Devil), the romance surprisingly sweet but I wish the editing had been more thorough and the story longer. If we ever get a sequel with these two I would be over the moon
- Reviewed in the United States on September 12, 2020No one wants to pick a favorite...but Devil may have been my favorite in the Marchesi Family series. Devil and Joe’s story was full of so much emotion. The emotions were always so close to the surface with these two. Both men just challenged each other SO much. The push and pull between these two was palpable. The hate sex was seriously off the charts HOT, and cue the blushing and fanning of oneself. This bit of enemies to lovers just packed such an emotional punch. Each man had his own hurts from their past that defined who they were. I loved when they shared those feelings with each other. Baring their souls, almost daring the other to walk away from the realness that had turned into a relationship when neither was looking. Devil and Joe were just so made for each other. In the scheme of the Marchesi series I loved how their story fit into the overall storyline. Everything felt like it fell into place and completed the story all around. This has been one of my favorite series by this author. I can’t wait to see how the spinoff series, Vigilance, unfolds.
If you are a fan of audiobooks, I couldn’t recommend this more. When the narration can make you both blush AND cover your eyes, you know it’s a good one. Michael Dean just blew me away with his narration of Devil, as well as his reading of the whole series. It’s rare for me to only listen to a series, and not have read first. I saw so many recommendations for this series, especially the narration, and it being Michael Dean made me dive right in. I listened to these books back to back to back, and I’m so glad I waited.

5.0 out of 5 stars A cop and a mobster fall in love...
Devil and Joe are my favorite couple in this whole series. A mobster and a cop. Both with a dominating alpha attitude. Both can give and receive. I love it! Bad-ass hot alpha men. It goes a bit crazy now and then, and both like it more rough. But they were made for one another.
You can expect fantastic action like in all the other books, possessiveness, very hot scenes, secrets, and a HEA. Both know they are bad for each other, a cop and a mobster. How's that supposed to work out? Still, they can't stop seeing each other. They can't stop falling for each other.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!
Since last book, I was waiting anxiously for Devil and Joe' story. As intense as the two previous books in the series, this is a little more twisted and morally debatable. I loved how Devil and Joe struggled to find a middle ground making them vulnerable with each other. It was a treat reading all the emotional charged dialogues and interactions. Really, Ms Violet is a genius. I can't wait to discover what else her devious mind concocted next! WOW!
