About the authors
John Baltisberger is an author of speculative and genre fiction that often focuses on Jewish Elements. Through his writing, he has explored themes of mysticism, faith, sin, and personal responsibility. He lives in Austin, TX with his wife and his daughter.
Though mostly known for his bizarre blend of Jewish mysticism and splatter, John defies being labeled under any one genre. His work has spanned extreme horror, urban fantasy, science fiction, cosmic horror, epic verse, and he has even written a guide for mindful meditation.
While relatively new to the writing community, (his first book was published in 2018) John has become known for his work in verse, having worked in both extremely short works and massive novella-length poetic epics. He continues to work to push himself to explore new avenues of expression and horror literature.
Naching T. Kassa is a wife, mother and writer. She is a member of the Horror Writers Association, Mystery Writers of America, and the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Association. Naching serves as Talent Relations Manager for Crystal Lake Publishing.
Tim Mendees is a rather odd chap. He's a horror writer from Macclesfield in the North-West of England that specialises in cosmic horror and weird fiction. A lifelong fan of classic weird tales, Tim set out to bring the pulp horror of yesteryear into the 21st Century and give it a distinctly British flavour. His work has been described as the love-child of H.P. Lovecraft and P.G. Wodehouse and is often peppered with a wry sense of humour that acts as a counterpoint to the unnerving, and often disturbing, narratives.
Tim is the author of over one hundred published short stories and novelettes, seven novellas, and two short story collections. He has also curated and edited several cosmic horror-themed anthologies.
When he is not arguing with the spellchecker, Tim is a goth DJ with a weekly radio show on The Feelgood Station, and the co-presenter of the Innsmouth Book Club Podcast & Strange Shadows: The Clark Ashton Smith Podcast. He currently lives in Brighton & Hove with his pet crab, Gerald, and an ever-increasing army of stuffed octopods.

K. A. Mielke (he/they) is the author of Losing Hit Points, and the co-author of Victory Lap with Riley Alexis Wood. They love drinking too much coffee, watching long video essays about philosophy and cartoons, and writing about queer heroes and hungry monsters. They live outside of Erin, Ontario, with entirely too many people and pets to list.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2020Let me just preface by saying that I love monsters of all kinds and I was excited to hear about this anthology about Kaiju!
Devour the Earth was a good mix of stories: serious, irreverent, silly, foreboding, and even poetry from John Baltisberger (whom I've come to know well through his writing this year). The thing I love about anthologies is that I get to preview authors I've never tried or heard of. I'm particularly looking forward to reading more from Reed Alexander (Maggot was probably my favorite and will stick with me for a while) and Kathleen Allen (apparently, There Leviathan is her first published story and it set the perfect tone as the opening story).
There was something to love about each story in this anthology, so if you want more giant monsters in your life, this book is for you!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 10, 2020This is a colorful, original collection of short stories and one lengthy, meaty poem about kaiju - massive monsters that, for the most part, come to take what they want from the Earth and destroy whatever gets in their way. The first three stories tell of great monsters that come from the sea - deep underwater, on the Atlantic Coast, and a cove in Great Britain. These monsters are genuinely scary in their amorphous, random ways. The story, "Next in Line," fulfills everyone's worst fears about amusement parks and roller coasters. The fantastic "The Second Coming of Sundown" tells of reporters who show up to cover the opening of a religious theme park but end up witnessing the larger-than-life battle of a giant mechanical Jesus against the actual Jesus. "Beneath Their Feet" is also set inland where the characters retain their humanity despite the natural giants' destruction and conquest of humanity. In "What Happened to Burlington," a televangelist's exorcism transfers a demon from a little girl to a snail that morphs into a city-destroying monster. The collection is crazily unique, brilliantly imaginative, and often gruesomely gory. It was a fun read!
